Youre video quality is good but you are not get more views because of these SEO problem, if you want I can fix this problem.😮😮😮😮😮
Giving you a like and a comment but don't want to ruin any Clive books as I've started collecting them...thanks to one of your earlier videos. Merry Christmas man!!!
Thanks for the review, Austin! I always see Cussler's books in my local bookstores, so it's good to get somebody's view on them. :)
Ace Ventura... 😂
These books sound great. I am going to have to expand my Cussler universe beyond the Fargos and Isaac Bell.
Good to see you back and I am happy that you enjoyed this one. Merry Christmas to you and have a great holiday season.
Thanks it’s great to be back! I really enjoyed it and I’m really happy I gave this series a chance. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Have a Merry Christmas! 🎄
Thank you sir, I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a great new year!
Hey Austin - I was sent here by Kevin Towle Reads and I'm happy to have checked you out. Great question! I enjoy series, but there is NO way I could keep up with more than one series at a time. I try to read a series and then PERHAPS a standalone book sort of as a "break". If that makes sense. I'm a new booktuber, so when I see others read five or six books at a time, I just am amazed! I can barely keep up with two! Haha! :) Glad to be your newest subscriber - Merry Christmas to you and yours, friend! :)
Thanks for subscribing! I just subscribed to your channel and I can’t wait to see the content on there. A couple years ago I only read 1 series at a time and sometimes it can be confusing lol so there’s times now that I’ll read just one series most of the time I try to have 2 or 3 going at one time. Merry Christmas to y’all as well!!
@@OuterWorldMedia Thanks for subbing! :) Yes, and if a series has 1000s of names I'm supposed to remember, I'm of the attitude: "Okay...I'm outta here." LOL!
@ that’s how I approach some series specifically (wheel of time, a song of ice and fire) I have them on my TBR but I don’t know if I’ll ever get around to them lol I saw that you have some stormlight archives videos. I’m very interested in checking those out as I’ve been wanting to read that series for a few years now.
@@OuterWorldMedia Yes, I'd love to hear your thoughts after you read them. I tried Mistborn but couldn't get into it so I was hesitant with the Stormlight Archives but have been really enjoying them. I just wish I was caught up because it's heck trying to avoid spoilers! LOL.
last breed- rambo III ... was gonna be rambo in RUSSIA & (die hard.. weak and mamby pamby) merry xmas as 2024 everyone
Merry Christmas!
Congratulations. Nice to see one of the good guys making miniature versions. Wishing you and the family good health and fortune.
Thanks for your well wishes! It means a lot.
I definitely feel like I’m in the middle of too many series. And there’s so many more I want to start!! I have a goal for next year to complete 10 series that I’ve already started.
I can’t wait to see your reviews of those series. I wanna try and finish a couple I’m in the middle of next year.
@ Good luck to us both!
Congrats on the upcoming addition! It will definitely change your life. 😊 Excited to see how your channel evolves!
Thank you so much! I’m really looking forward to being a dad!
This series sounds like it is all over the place.
It has been so far. Which isn’t a bad thing they’ve all been good books there’s just been others that I think I’d prefer to read more again.
@@OuterWorldMedia I have a channel update coming announcing I'm leaving BookTube. I don't want you to be offended by anything I say in the video; it's not directed at you. I will continue to watch your videos, because I genuinely like you. I'm just over the whole BookTube experience. It's been a pretty negative experience for me. I'm going back to the way my channel functioned a year ago.
No offense taken sir. I know you’ve had your issues with how booktube can be at times and I definitely get your frustration with certain aspects of it. I’m sorry your experience hasn’t been the best sir. I still look forward to communicating with you and I hope you still enjoy the content I put out. I’ve taken a little hiatus myself to recharge my batteries and refocus on what content I put on the channel.
Gotta come back to this one after I read it Peace Keeper!
Let me know what you think sir!
Good review. I just finished it last night and I liked it a little better than you did. It was finally more of a classic western with grudges, gunslingers, settlers, and evil land barons. It was written way back in 1960 so the tone was slightly different than the previous books. LL was still honing his vision of the series at that point. I hope you will be ready to re-join the Sacketts and the wagon train in January!
I agree with Bing, Austyn. But hey, thats us lol. Nice honest review buddy!
I agree it did have more of the western feel that I’ve come to associate with a Louis Lamour novel. For whatever reason it just didn’t do it for me lol I’m glad you enjoyed it though! I will be rejoining the wagon train in January and I look forward to seeing you back on the trail again!
I don’t know why I didn’t enjoy it as much as everyone else lol I guess I’ll just blame it on lack of sleep from traveling so much on the trail😂
I'm probably not the one to ask. I tend to avoid series in general, and I don't even like to have multiple books going at once. At most, I do one piece of fiction and one of nonfiction at the same time, along with any essays, magazine articles, or short stories that I work in kind of randomly. As far as series go, I would definitely want to stick with one at a time if the books have a continuous plot and have to be read sequentially. If we're talking about the kind of series where the books stand alone and can even be read out of order, I wouldn't mind having a couple going at once.
I’ve only read a nonfiction and fiction book at the same time together a couple time and I really enjoyed it and I need to do that more often. Thanks for your input!
Oh man... Why are you giving Kevin props. His head is going to swell... Oh man never seen you without a hat on... A first for the channel. What a great discussion question... I was literally thinking this last night as I was trying to add a book to my Kindle for night reading in bed. I wanted to do the Clive Custler series you are reading but it's a little overwhelming starting all these series. I didn't pick Clive because the library didn't have book one but if I had that would be about 5 series I have started and not one of them finished. Should be a good discussion.
I had to show off the new haircut😂 I think you’ll enjoy the Dirk Pitt series. This is one I think if we could do a review together over zoom or something we’d probably spend 45 minutes comparing it to action movies and laughing about some of the dialogue in the book😂
Steal away buddy! 😊 great topic! I am reading, slowly mind you, like 10 series with another 7-8 i would like to start. I am on the crazy side and think switching back and forth between 3-5 is more enjoyable and practical. But that is my opinion. Great video!
Good point switching between them. Never thought of this... Be a good argument for many series. Not bad for a city slicker.
Way to overachieve Kevin!😂 in all seriousness I think that you do a great job from what I can see about balancing the multiple series. I think reading that money series for me might be a bit much but I’m finding myself wanting to read more and more series so I’m sure I’ll be up there with you soon lol thanks for your input sir!
Usually three series at a time is my max. Preferably it would be two longer series (10+ books) and one shorter series (trilogy). Theres also not enough trilogies out there, it seems like everything now has to be 30+ books.
That sounds like a great balance for reading multiple series. I agree there aren’t enough trilogies written. Thanks for your input!
It depends on the individual reader and what their priorities are. If you are reading 15 series and you want to complete them by the end of 2025 then you probably have too many on the go. I think you have to consider your available reading time, what else you want to read, as well as your reading goals and timeline. For me, 2 or 3 at once is probably the limit in the short term but I might have as many as 10 or more ongoing over a long term. By the way, I just finished The Professor and the Madman and loved it. Thanks for the recommendation and you did not steer me wrong. My library had the DVD movie as well so I plan to watch it this weekend.
I agree reading goals as well as how much time you have definitely affects how much you read at one time. Thanks for your input! And I’m glad you enjoyed the book! Let me know what you think of the movie!
@@OuterWorldMedia The movie was a fairly good adaptation and followed the book quite closely with the exception of a few details that didn't really have a negative effect on the story. If you get the chance, definitely watch it. Mel Gibson is James Murray and Sean Penn is W C Minor and both were good in the roles.
One of the reasons I don't read much fantasy is because they always seem to be part of a big series. I actually prefer stories to be self contained.
I enjoy the idea of the same characters in multiple books. However I also enjoy having stand alone novels and not committing or feeling obligated to commit to a 15 book series.
4 day weekend?!?! Must be one of them there state employees... Not looking forward to Daybreaker. I'm not enjoying this series at all and if you say this isn't one of the better ones I can only imagine what I'm going to think of it.
No state employee here sir😂
This sounds like good escapist action adventure. I have to keep an eye out for this one.
It was a good read and I think you’d enjoy it.
Cool. I'll start this once I get a hold of the first few, managed to grab some of the later ones. Sounds fun.
Nice wrap up! I should finish DayBreakers tomorrow i think. You are really enjoying those Dirk Pitt novels! Have a good holiday week Austyn!
Thanks! I finished the Daybreakers last night. So far the Dirk Pitt series has been amazing! Thanks Kevin I hope you and your family have a happy Thanksgiving!
I live in an area where the "neighbors" are at least a half mile away, but some of them have had Christmas lights going for a week or two already. I don't know; maybe they just never took the things down. 🤔 Have a great Thanksgiving. And I'm cool with pumpkin pie, but it's sweet potato for the win. 😁
I’ve never been a fan of sweet potato pie. I’ve tried it a couple times and I didn’t mind it but it never tasted as good to me as Pumpkin. I hope you have a great thanksgiving!
Good stuff as always! I really need to start The Daybreakers this week. I have been cheating and reading other stuff that appealed to me in the moment. Have a great Thanksgiving holiday and week!
Thanks! I tend to do that sometimes lol that’s why I try to read 2 or 3 books at a time just so if I’m in the mood for a action thriller I have that lined up or I can jump over to a horror or science fiction book and not get bored with what I’m reading.
I like pumpkin pie but pecan is my favorite.
Ive never been a pecan pie fan myself but as long as you have some kind of pie on thanksgiving that’s all that matters lol.
Congrats Austyn. Life will indeed change, family first always! Longmire is on my shelf and i am dying to try it out. Nice to hear you are excited about Dirk Pitt. Reading Lonesome Dove in January with some other BookTubers…
Thank you sir! I’m really interested to see what you think of Longmire. I can’t remember if you said you’ve read lonesome dove before or not but either way I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it!
Congratulations! When the baby's here, are you going to review the books you read to your baby? Like which books are fun for parents to read to the kids? My sister is expecting a baby as well and I could use some tips on great books to get her. I've got the Odyssee and the Iliad on my TBR for 2025 as well. I bought them in 2022 and they've been gathering dust on my shelves ever since. I'm looking forward to your thoughts on them.
Thanks! I honestly hadn’t thought of doing that but I’m willing to give it a shot lol keep an eye out later in 2025 for those reviews!
Congratulations and best wishes for the new upcoming expanded family! The Killer Angels is a brilliant book and I am sure you will love it.
Thanks! I’m really excited to start the killer angels in 2025.
Congratulations to you and your wife! Yeah, it's probably not the time for getting too attached to a reading plan. 😁 I'm all about anything Tolkien, so I look forward to that if and when you get to it. The Killer Angels is probably the first "adult" nonfiction book I read, and I still have a soft spot for it. I happened to read it a couple months before my family visited Gettysburg, and it really helped to make that an amazing experience. I can't complain about The Iliad or The Odyssey either. I'm not the biggest fan of Westerns, but Lonesome Dove seems so well regarded that I probably should give it a try eventually. But anyway, all the best for a great 2025. Thanks for the video, and have a good one. Edit: Just struck me that The Killer Angels is actually historical fiction. But it was so grounded compared to most things I read of my own will at the time that it felt like nonfiction. 😜
Thanks! I’m really excited to dive into middle earth. The killer angels seems like a great historical fiction novel. I’ve never visited any civil war battlefields but I’m hoping to change that in the next couple years. Lonesome Dove in my opinion is a book that lives up to the hype.
@OuterWorldMedia My favorite battlefield of the ones I've visited so far is Shiloh. It's a nicely preserved site, but I would warn that Shiloh is a difficult battlefield to understand unless you know the battle pretty well. A good part of it was basically a disordered mess with a bunch of dudes slaughtering each other in the early spring woods. Gettysburg is good first battlefield to visit. It's a touching experience, and in my opinion, the battle and the field are fairly straightforward to understand. Have a good one!
Congratulations old boy! Life is about to change. 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks! And I’ve been told it’ll change quite a bit but this just means I can tell my baby about what I’ve been reading instead of my wife😂😂
Congratulations! 🥳. My oldest daughter is expecting in May. That baby is going to change your life man. If your channel slows down it's understandable. Blessings! 🙏
I don't think you ever got my email? Never got a reply. Anyway my mailing address is: Mr. Dustin Neely PO Box 25 Lyons OH, 43533
I don’t think I ever received an email but I’ve had a couple issues with it. I’ll get that book sent out ASAP to you sir!
Thank you sir!
Couldn't pick 5 !! Last of the breed Flint Riley,s luck Man called Trent All Sackett books from book 1
It’s extremely hard to pick a top 10 favorite books by him let alone 5 lol. His catalogue of books has to be one of the greatest ever in my opinion.
I have thought about this series for years and years, but finally decided against it. Good video though Austyn!
I think you’d enjoy parts of this series but not others lol
This one was a banger for sure! Enjoyed it alot! Good review Austyn!
Thanks!
Austyn: are you going to start reading romance like Hide and Read and Faceless 😂 ….seriously though, good review!
I don’t see any romance books in my future sir😂
Glad you enjoyed the book, and I'm glad it makes you curious to check out more nonfiction history. It really is an interesting if fairly sad story. On a side note, I had noticed several new books that at least touch on this topic showing up "recently" (as in the last five years or so), and in trying to figure out why, I discovered that the movie adaptation of this book was released around then. So that would likely be the reason. 😁 Thanks for the video, and have a good one.
I need to check out the movie one of these days. I’m trying to find more books like this one but haven’t had any luck so far. Thanks for watching!
This sounds so interesting. This seems like a definite case of the truth is stranger than fiction. I just put a hold on it and the movie at my library. Thanks!
I really fits into that category. I think this book is an obscure one and I don’t know why it’s not more popular or well known.
You got me curious so I looked him up. He cut off his own 🐔!? 😬
Sad, eh? Schizophrenia can be one helluva "drug."
It appears so sir. I had to do a double take when I read it.
I have the first two books on my shelf but have yet to read them. I find the commitment required to start this series intimidating. Maybe I will have to suck it up one of these days and dive in.
I’d recommend just giving it a shot. Most people I’ve noticed tend to warn about how dense and long the books and series is. I’d just give it a shot and see if you like it lol.
10 books close to 1,000 pages each. Yikes. That's what scares me away from fantasy.
It’s really daunting lol but I’ve enjoyed the first 2 books so far.
Fine commentary. I was hooked on this one as soon as the "Chain of Dogs" plotline got moving in earnest, and its conclusion absolutely crushed me. As much as I want to say Coltaine, Duiker and some others from that plot were my favorite characters, I think I have to give the hat tip to Iskaral Pust. It took me a page or so to accept that the crazy dude was seriously speaking his "internal monologue" out loud, but once I did, he made me laugh out loud many times. I can't recall if his wife Mogora figures in this one much, but she's hilarious too. I've heard a lot of people talk about how much they hate Felisin because of her behavior, but I'm not sure how the hell they're expecting a previously sheltered and now severely traumatized teenager to act. Thanks for the video, and have a good one.
Thanks! I enjoyed this one. Not as much as book 1 but the conclusion of this book really made me stop reading and made me wanna reread it again. Duiker had to be my favorite character. While I enjoyed the craziness that was Pust duiker was a solid character. Pust was a very entertaining character though. Felisins character though I didn’t have a problem with how she reacted to things in the book or what she did. While I didn’t enjoy what she did I think it was logical for what had happened to her.
Sold!
It’s a really solid read!
Sounds like a great week!! I need to add some more of these to my future reading.
Thanks for watching!
This sounds so good. I am patiently looking for books one so I can start this series!
I think you’ll really enjoy this series!
You only have 12 more to go. 😆
Only 12?! I wish there was at least another 20 to go😂
I really liked this one as well and perhaps the most of any of the series so far. Echo Sackett is a great character and this book was filled with action as well as some other memorable characters. Echo kind of reminded me of Mattie from True Grit. As I have said elsewhere, the series has finally started to hit its stride (not that the previous books were bad, not at all). Hopefully, this trend continues with the Daybreakers.
This one was a nice change of pace for this series and I wouldn’t mind reading more books with echo in them.
Can't go wrong with number 56. That was good old Lawrence Taylor's number. Nice little review. I love that you call it smut that's hilarious. 😂
I didn’t even make that connection till you said something😂 Go Big Blue!
Great review! I read one or two of the later books in this series as a teen, and I recently picked up several of the early books. I see a lot of people on Goodreads being rather critical of Pacific Vortex, so it's nice to hear a passionate endorsement of the book. Looking forward to reading it for myself 😊
Thanks! I’ve only read the first 2 books in this series but I don’t think anyone should go into it expecting it to be a life changing series lol but if you go into it with the mindset of having fun and enjoying a character that’s a cross between James Bond/ Indiana jones then you’ll really enjoy it. Happy reading!
