I am not sure why anyone would say you were overly negative or "naggy" with your review. I appreciate the honest and candid reviews and you always give appreciation to the positive things on the ship as well. Not everyone will have the same experiences on cruises and perhaps the ship was very crowded and maybe it was understaffed. Keep up the great work and know that most of us appreciate the honesty and the great content!!
Glad you enjoyed it. We try to balance out any challenges we find with the positives - as there's no such things as a bad cruise, we're on vacation and loving it.
I would ask all of you guys to share a few seconds of video showing wheelchair accessible spaces. Like any ramps on the ships, wheelchair space in the entertainment areas and theater. Anything that might be an obstacle or anything that might encourage us to use or avoid a ship. Simple things like the hand washing stations can a person in a self propelled wheelchair have space under the sink so they can move close enough, accessible bathrooms and so on. 😊
The biggest thing we noticed on the Seashore was the extremely long wait to get an elevator. We never went by the elevators that we didn’t see someone in a wheelchair or scooter waiting. Thanks for your comment we will keep it in mind for our next vlog series.
Thank you so much for responding to me on my excitement about your first experience with MSC. I truly appreciate it because you two are gracious and not just needing 5 star plus perfection...just good..thank you, thank you. I will be watching this keenly. Now I am already back to Yacht Club Only when/if I try MSC and comparing that to regular situations on other lines depending on all the details we all have learned to do. I am not sure where in real time we are but sure you are making the best of it and enjoying anyway...so glad your daughters/families/guests loved the show...that is truly great...I hope those cards got changed??
I was cringing while watching this one... the only thing that kept me going was looking for the letter and loving your content. There's no way I could do a ship with more than 3500 passengers... not even sure if I could do THAT many, but it would depend on the ship/layout. Thanks for 'taking one for the team'!
I agree with many of the comments based on the first day that it does not look relaxing, service oriented or inviting but it is only the first day. It does seem dark/cramped with a nickel and dime climate vs my preference for bright/space and all in. I think it was a good choice to get the drink package based on this vlog.
I must have watched dozens of reviews now of MSC, and despite you all saying you are giving it a second try etc, it staggers me that you all keep trying to make it worthwhile. I can say this categorically, I will never spend my money on an MSC cruise. It looks, and sounds now, like at hell sea. Any redeeming pluses, can be kept as far I am concerned. The noise in that atrium is unbearable. Like Blackpool at sea. I dont consider myself as a refined person, and I would hate to do a Cuanrd cruise, with that pomp and ceremony, but MSC can do one frankly. With so many great cruise lines I am amazed you vloggers keep givng MSC another chance. Great video by the way. Love your content.
We had a good experience in the fall on the Seaside but unfortunately that was not the case this time. We don’t have any plans on giving MSC a third try.
I am fairly confident in saying I have watched all your videos of cruising, and as soon as you stepped foot on this ship & in the first 10 seconds onboard it felt very chaotic to me. I hadn’t had that impression in any of your other videos. Seeing how packed & loud it was, was even a turnoff for me and I’m in my 30’s.
@@CruisingCanucks I’ve had more relaxing embarkation experiences with Carnival 😂 & Norwegian was excellent from check in to getting aboard. Looking forward to seeing how my first Royal cruise goes this August!
it is beautiful. we just got back from a 4 night cruise. great time. ship was amazing and maybe we just got lucky but there was a great group of people on board. lots of fun
I loved Seaside last year I was hoping Seashore was a clone, it did not feel crowded and loved the 2nd buffet mostly for late night snacks. I can discount their lack of free additional dining option for a lower fair & if drink package was selected with room it was way cheaper. Also over night at their private island is great, I see other cruise lines starting to do that, which at great ports is just great!
We found out that the Seashore is the same size as the Seaside but they took out common area and added extra cabins and therefore it holds 400-700 more passengers. We definitely felt like it was overcrowded compared to the Seaside.
I loved the drink stations on the Disney Fantasy with our handy 64oz yetis. Making drinks so inaccessible is always a pain on cruise ships. Trying Princess with Premier package for our first time in June where we hope the Medallion class service makes it somewhat easier.
Canadian here. I enjoy your vlogs. Planning our first cruise. Which medical insurance do you purchase when going on a cruise and which company. Need all the advice. :)
We have used a variety of different types. Fortunately we have yet to have a claim while travelling so we do feel that we recommend a specific one. We currently have a Platinum American Express Card that provides a good insurance travel plan but recognize that it is pricey unless someone is travelling as frequently as we do.
We went through the embarkation chaos twice; once when we initially boarded and the again when we reboarded for the 7-day. I hear you about the buffet…in can be nuts. Eventually we figured out to use the glass elevator at the very aft end and go in there. Even if the aft serving stations weren’t open it was MUCH more civilized back there. Our MDR experience was ok; not amazing or even “good” just adequate. Our biggest complaints were slow drink service (it’s the point of sale system they use creates a bottleneck in the service flow) and those idiotic “smart” elevators
Great tip on the aft elevators - we found the same. Our boarding on MSC both times has been really good though. Drink service was mainly okay, but we had a couple times where it was a little slow. SMART ELEVATORS - we didn't think they improved service on the Panorama and felt the same about them on this ship. Good news is we lost weight doing so many stairs on this ship!
We were thinking if we were to do MSC it would be for a European cruise which are more port intensive. We normally spend the maximum amount of time off the ship and eat out (though very frugally). And maybe we'd bring back food local from the ports we visited, and not rely so heavily on MSC's lack of food choice/availability. Basically, their ship would serve as a floating hotel, lol. Still only a thought. Not sure if we're willing to hand our money to MSC just yet though, lol. Looking forward to the rest of the vlog to see if it improves.
I'm sure if you were able to upgrade to yacht club your experience would have been so much better. If I go on msc the yacht club is the only way to go.
Last time I used my soft sided beautiful luggage by the way, we were flying to Texas and it poured! My suitcase must have laid in a huge puddle at the bottom of the luggage carrier as everything inside was soaked!
How unfortunate. We were afraid that our daughter and family would have the same experience because they were travelling with soft case luggage but fortunately all their clothes were dry.
We' ve only done 4 MSC cruises with mostly good cruises...but yes, they do tend to overcrowd their ships. It's weird how MSC is so strict on embarkation day about wine, soda, or water...but we've experienced a lax policy at the ports, usually ushered on to our cabins even when verbally declaring we might have rum we bought. Go figure? But we really hope your cruise turns out much better. We're sure better weather will make a difference.
Oh my this hasn't started out very well at all. Sorry guys, hope it gets better. The ship seems very dark inside, or is it me? What were they thinking only having one buffet, and not fully open? Yikes! Fighting to get paper menus every night, when they knew you preferred that! MSC is a big no for me, just something about the line and the comments I've heard that has put me off. Last straw was how Ben and David were treated on their last MSC cruise. I will be interested to follow along, and see how it goes. Cheers from London, Ontario.
May you live in interesting times, the Chinese say; so, the real question still unanswered is: Do they have Crown royal on board, at least that could be a salve for your expensive beverage package. I'm really looking forward to the rest of this adventure!
Y'know, I don't think I'd be especially mad about replacing 1 of the multiple private island days for an actual port, even if it was "only" Nassau. As much as the Nassau port zone is something of a manufactured experience, it does have a bit of local flavour, where the private islands are *entirely* manufactured experiences. To each their own, though.
We booked this cruise to special due to the two days at the private island. We love to snorkel and wanted lots of time at the beach with our family. We were impressed that MSC made the effort to bring us to a different port instead of just adding another sea day.
Our first 20 cruises were on Carnival without a drink package and we never had to go to a bar to get a glass of water if we wanted a drink. That's new to us. We'd be happy to get our own water if it was available - Marella had water filling stations at each elevator.
@CruisingCanucks have u seen the prices on carnival that is why you are probably on a msc cruise, I have been on 10 of there ships. They always have juice stations and ice and water stations in all of there market places. I guess I will check in May when I'm on the seashore for 2 weeks.
MSC is a no-go for me. I’ve seen so many reviews where they stumbled on organization for basic cruise functions - why should I trust them to organize during an emergency if they can’t handle the basics?
After watching this video, I am also confident that this is not the cruise line for me. There were too many things that would have dampen my spirits form the card being incorrect, to the wet luggage to the MDR fiasco, and that in first half of the video.
So we are setting sail on MSC on May 12. So I’m given the option to link my cc at home, but this is my first ever cruise. What is it for? To cover additional items you might want to purchase? For the gratuities at the end?
You have to have a credit on file because there is no cash and no credit used on the ship. Everything you purchase is applied to your ship card and onto your onboard account. Your credit card is then used to settle that account.
