The weaker magikarp is, the stronger gyarados needs to be. The stronger magikarp is, the weaker gyarados needs to be. That’s just how this concept is. Do NOT buff both.
@ninatote6426 I haven't tried Gyarados yet so let me know if I'm wrong, but I imagine it has some of the same reasons Tyanitar has, being too easy to bully in the early game and relatively easy to kite once it hits its evloution. And from the looks of this video, Gyardos probably gets shut down by stuns and hard CC such as mean look.
@ninatote6426most pro play viable Pokemon are really good at every stage of the game. You can imagine why a pokemon designed to be bad early game wouldn't do well in competitive pro play.
It’s probably the same people that don’t play TTar as much either. Level 9 for full evolve Ttat compared to Gyrados to level 4-7. So yea, it tough, just like Ttar. People do get upset as well with TTar since you can’t really do much early gamesHowever, I do agree with the moves, a lot don’t co-op with each other. Like there good but they are more mix and match.
Opening Aqua Tail's trigger window so that it doesnt go on cooldown for being pushed away for just half a second, as well as letting it be used intermittently between waterfalls, would be enough of a buff for that move. Waterfall being cancellable is enough for that move. And bounce having, even just a tiny amount of movement while charging is enough for that move. (I know gyara is curling up to jump; let him wiggle around or something idk) Dragon breath is fine. All of these changes aren't even usual buffs, just QoL changes to fluidity that are intuitive to how people expect to play it. But that alone would be huge.
I agree with most of this, but I have a problem with the fundamental point of dragon breath. It seems like the devs couldn't decide whether or not to make Gyarados basic attack based. Aqua tail and waterfall are completely anti basic attack, and Gyarados's melee basics just don't make sense. I hope they rework most of its kit
Haven't played it yet but it just looks... clunky. This probably wasn't their intent but instead of having this giant dragon serpent it feels like we got one of those dragon costumes they use around Chinese New Year with a couple of guys underneath holding it up. They'll probably end up just tweaking some numbers on it but I'd love to see them tweak waterfall to move like Dragonites DDance. Having it move in those curving sweeps instead of those hitchy straight lines I feel like would make its gameplay feel much more natural without having to completely rebuild it from the ground up.
It’s like Garchomp ult where you’re locked into movement for a few seconds but with chomp all his attacks are telegraphed and he changes direction instead of snapping like Gyarados waterfall. If Gyarados can also have a “turn” animation like chomp it would look better visually and could be better technically
Its so easy to counter. Just play really aggressive when it's still a karp. Then when its gyarados, you just walk away. Stuns work really well on him as well.
I don't agree with anything you have said. Personally, I feel it's a high-risk high reward. If you can't be smart with how you play or work as a team as Karp, you deserve to lose. The only thing that needs to change is Gyarados survivability. All CC basically ruins his abilities. Make his waterfall grant immunity to hindrance and buff the shield he gets from it. He's too squishy and CC vulnerable. I had my UNITE MOVE canceled as I was coming out of the ground by a Trev horn leech
Gyarados feels very hit-or-miss. The problem to me is his tankiness, his kit clearly implies he needs to dive in to do his thing, but he is too frail to even try doing that. He definitely needs more Lifesteal as well, it’s very weird to me how he barely has any lifesteal.
Freaking love this Pokemon. Through some matches I've found out that goal getter helps you enjoy pretty quick if you have the energy for it. But I've been wondering! If magikarp puts on exp share and lanes with carry speedster I bet you could evolve pretty quick. The carry gets the experience and you get the aoes
Gyarados seems fine, amazing Unite move, good ability, pretty good or okay moves. Magikarp feels like his basic attacks should be a normal speed like every other Pokémon, working with teammates could be especially good. Bounce might need a small quality of life buff, some moves get canceled frequently too, but I think that they should buff it after a while and not rush it like Metagross.
I’ve played max crit emblems (brown and white), scope, claw, rapid fire + slow smoke. I bounce in, smoke, dragonbreath and auto attack. Even it’s unite pairs well with a slow smoke to zone out someone. I’ve been doing over 80k each game. It could use a boosted auto being ranged though. Also max crit emblems helps magikarp secure with auto attacks in early game paired with razor claw, and splash helps proc razor claw as often as it can. Some people are way better with aqua tail but I personally don’t like the stuns and I don’t like the clunky mobility of waterfall. I like that bounce helps you launch into team fights. It’s unite charge feels pretty good too. I think Magikarp could be tuned up even just with the auto attacks. The attack speed is abysmal and considering how flop it already is they could really just buff it to whatever the regular speed is(?) to give it a chance. Maybe a slight shield for flail.
On Magikarp, I agree the whole concept is that it needs to be weak, but it needs Something... The problem is this: if the only consistent ways to rush the effort meter are KO and scoring, then you need either something to help you do that, maybe ypu need to run score shield? Or you're already dominating your lane and it's less relevant anyway... What if splash was a knock up, even without damage?
When are they making another healing support? We've been stuck at blissey, clefable, eldegoss and comfy forever and it seems like people hate when you pick comfey so really only 3 choices. It's like they are obsessed with all rounders and don't ever add any supports which is my favorite pokemon type.
Having a lot of fun with Gyarados, but I agree with the comments on its moveset. Probably won't see tournament play, but hey, I found another Pokemon I enjoy playing.
So basically Gyarados’ mechanic is similar to Kayle in LoL (sorry for the reference but its actually really clear but with a few notes to mention) Seeing as how Kayle also is a late game scaling character in LoL too, but with Gyarados an gauge is built in and increases every second (although slow) plus with quick takedowns and scoring a player can eventually evolve as early as level 4. Its just a unique release and im looking very forward to playing this pokemon fr
The last few Pokemon have been released underwhelming in terms of power is because they kept releasing outright broken stuff that made the game unfun. It's a much better strategy to release them at potentially low power, see how it goes, and buff if needed. The fact they can't fix Mewtwo after all this time kinda proves this is the best way for this games devs to handle releases.
The problem being, in ranked people can often capitalize on any weakness they find. Ie Deci, Greninja, and Cinder getting griefed really hard in lane. Magikarp is that to an extreme level. I feel like in draft this could be good, just get paired with a good goodra or Mamo and capitalize with kills. But I think it needs to be reworked where you 100% evolve at lv. 6 for example, or filling your gauge and get it early.
Dragon breath should have a more noticeable paralyze like pika's thunderbolt. I had to read that it does i couldnt tell from gameplay. Aqua tail should slow, or throw on each hit or gyarados should have more mobility during like azumarill. It seems like you can just walk away from it. Or u cant move at all but up the damage and its uninterruptable. Waterfall seems ok but it should throw or slow on each hit. I havent seen enough of bounce. Unite move seems like more of an escape than anything. It should be a complete disruptor slowing and throwing everything it hits with a slight stun on landing. Its kind of underwhelming as is for having this giant tornado.
Magikarp should get a boost or evolve faster while a teammate is using exp share. That’ll shake things up strategically and still stay true to the Pokémon
I'm not familiar with what engine is this game developed on, but I don't know how hard, it would be to implement those quality of life improvements, it seems like the best they can or are willing to do, is adjust damage or defense values, I remember when they adjusted Charizard, to be able to more more freely while attacking, Gyarados needs that kind of changes, not just adjust values and move on, but those kind of changes are so rare in this game.
I played this Pokémon as soon as it was available and came to the same conclusions. I feel like it needs a big buff considering it can be cc'd from its dash and ult. I have no problems evolving, it's actually easy for me. I also feel it's a bit too squishy. I'm looking forward to the buffs. 100% in love with this Pokémon
This pkmn will get a lot of hate because of bad players using it, i would buff it like this: waterfall=instead of auto using it you have to press the button for every attack so you can cancel it, bounce=faster charging and a vision extention on the camera, aqua tail= beeing able to move while using it or beeing able to press it multiple time instead of holding the button and some more invincebility so it cant be cancelled so easyly.
I haven't been enjoying the kit of these two past releases. I kinda don't care for Meta nor Gyarados, not because I don't like the mons, but the kit feels so weird.
spragels : i think this pokemon needs a buff pokemon unite: sure ( buff it that i overpowers everything) spragels : i think this pokemon needs a nerf 🤣🤣
The best way to buff magikarp is getting more effort value for plays that take skill, maybe more EP for scoring points (eg points per point scored instead of only a flat number for 10+) but nothing for doing nothing
I know this is going to be an L take but I’ve been finding success in getting level 4 gyarados by playing a sort of support karp 😂 I use the smoke screen item to create openings for my lane partner and I to take out the opponent. It’s been working because I notice my teammates are letting me get the last hit as karp but that’s in masters, I know that gets harder in lower ranks.
They should add Regigigas to the game because of what moves they can give it like for its unit move they can give it crush grip and make it so it more damage the more hp a pokemon hase. They can also give it slow start for the first 2 to 5 minutes of the game so when slow start is over the opponents pokemon are (hopefully) evolved to deal with Regigigas better.
Man you can tell they're weren't sure on it because theu stealth dropped it. Maybe they can improve the time it takes to evolve it while increases the combo potential in garados moves.
hello jake. i remember i was on one of your streams and you noticed me. you said "oh you got an injury on your arm? awh man sorry you had to get stitches." and id said that my dad did the stitches himself. and last year he sadly passed. i was skyler (sky burst), and this is my brother's account i just wanted to update you. and personally gyarados is one of my favorite pokemon. much love from the phillipines.
Bad Players will naturally int with this pokemon but i played eledegoss today even tho my duo was playing Zoroark i went to magikarp lane to help and he evolved before 8:50 .... But there werr games where ally and enemy gyrados did int hard too
Gyrados is gonna be impossible to balance properly, buffing magikarp makes would make it more consistent but that would require gyrados to be toned down significantly but if you buff Gyarados then you have to compensate by making Magikarp even harder to evolve, personally i think because its such a new thing for the game people are just kind of learning from it and i think ee just need to wait a bit before we make any judgement calls yet
I do think Magikarp needs a buff. Gyarados doesnt need move buffs but changes. You do need to be able to cancel waterfall, aqua tail is too easily interrupted, and you should be able to move the camera with bounce
Those shouldn't be the only two options though. And it's sad that the fan base has become so desperate that their willing to take absolutely garbage upon release as a win cause at least its not broken. That's like choosing between a 50 dollar dog crap sandwich vs a 10 dollar crap sandwich when a non crap sandwich should be an option
@@theendlessphoenix2799 Yes I can, You're enabling and making excuses for the devs to not even attempt at middle ground releases. Bad upon release kills a game just as fast I'm terms of money hype and player base as broken upon release does
gyarados sucks hard early-mid, but literal monster in late game. the magikarp phase so slow and the evolve charge is too high. even if you evolve you are still 2-3 level gap with others. but if you catch up with their level especially at lvl 13 he hit's like a truck and that ultimate is broken if they gonna adjust him i'm sure that they will boost the charge faster but the will also nerf some moves to compensate not a fan of bounce skill but i can see it's potential. waterfall is better imo both aqua tail and dragon breath is good you can pick either depending on your playstyle i really love his ulti it's a chef's kiss
Ppl are saying give it healing when it does Aqua Tail. And also remove getting stunned out of Aqua Tail. Just don't give it more damage unless they wanna probably buff Magikarp's damage(?) Idk, it's just missing something. But on the bright side, at least his Unite move is better than Metagross.
I think magikarp is a good addition to the game, and I think we need more pokemons like it. complicated to use but will be a great asset when combined with great strategy. maybe they can even adjust other existing pokemons to be like it, too many players have gotten used to brain dead button mashing.
As much as I would haved like Metagross to have been OP on release (currently my fav Pokemon in general that's in Unite), does prove that they aren't making the game pay to win by making new Pokemon OP and a req for ranked.
Its moves just dont work; theyre boring, and not impactful. They also couldve made its basic atks change. It couldve ranged where the attack is weaker when opponent is far, but when they are in melee range the basic attack turns into melee, and its a stronger attack. This symbolizes gyarados versatility in the main series games. It can be ranged, but its better as a melee mon. Or Dragon breath could’ve been a move to temporarily turn all basics to ranged attacks for a short time with a manna bar that can shoot a bunch of small ones until it runs out and maybe a charged big one (up to the player to use bar accordingly. And thrash as a secondary move that does the same for melee attacks And the other move set couldve been bounce and aqua tail. Bounce in where you can move while you use it, make it faster to cast/aim; and the second move couldve been an aqua tail that acts more like gyro ball, (circular attack with a knockup. In terms of synergy. You can bounce out, and dragon breath and become ranged temporarily. You can bounce in and thrash Or you can aqua tail into thrash; or aqua tail, eject out into dragon breath and be ranged.
Buff magikarp to make it evolve a bit easier, buff Gyarados health, fix the basic attack and rework aqua tail. A lot of areas it needs work if they could do this with balanced changes when it comes to the numbers it would be solid.
Not gonna lie though, playing Gyarados is the first time my teammates start the match mad at me. It's sad, like I get it, but it's rough when the match starts and on the mics I hear I'm just trash 😅
Yeah Gyarados is kinda like Claude from Mobile Legends where he is sht till u purchase Demon Hunter Sword and when u do , its like u are playing a whole another hero .
Its move cooldown speed is so slow, plus the ability barely affects anything, against speedsters it’s useless, and it can’t heal itself because it has NO lifesteal. Annoying.
auto attacking for me isn't funny, specially on melee pokémon. looks like timi don't know how to put QoL changes on pokémon, they only adds or subtracts numbers. look at mamo's charge attack: he just can't hit the auto on a moving target. even if it is in its range, he just wave at nothing. They won't change aqua tail to be easier to use, nor making movement possible while readying bounce. Probably buffing both karp and gyarados and people will complain until the next pokémon comes out. so sad how awful this game is designed
Gyarados should by design be the mon that thrives vs unorganized teams while being almost unviable vs proper teams. If Gyarados can still be relevant in a match even after being camped for 5 minutes, then it's too strong. =)
It is a skill Pokémon. Why make it brain dead and broken? As for griefing, they should fix rank matching so that they don’t get paired with good teams.
Its not good at all. Good players can do well on it, but generally speaking, its not good at all. As a scizor player, I am not threatened by Gyrados AT ALL. It literally cant do any damage to me.
yayy.. Yet... Another...🙂all......Rounderr🙃. edit*** That's also still gem locked for the first week even though the developers said years ago they'd stop this🙃🙃🙃

I hope for 1 more pokemon release before Miraidon on pokemon day
I said this from the moment i saw this kit. I said it would suck and jungles would grief this pokemon. So please play it so i can hit 1600 faster
What should i get for now and future uses metagross or gyarados?
metagross is better
@@SentientChezburger ok thx I'll buy it :)
I agree this pokemon will gets buff for next update, this pokemon absolutely fun to play
gyarados sucks hard early-mid, but literal monster in late game.
the magikarp phase so slow and the evolve charge is too high. even if you evolve you are still 2-3 level gap with others. but if you catch up with their level especially at lvl 13 he hit's like a truck and that ultimate is broken
if they gonna adjust him i'm sure that they will boost the charge faster but the will also nerf some moves to compensate
not a fan of bounce skill but i can see it's potential. waterfall is better imo
both aqua tail and dragon breath is good you can pick either depending on your playstyle
i really love his ulti it's a chef's kiss
Ppl are saying give it healing when it does Aqua Tail. And also remove getting stunned out of Aqua Tail. Just don't give it more damage unless they wanna probably buff Magikarp's damage(?) Idk, it's just missing something. But on the bright side, at least his Unite move is better than Metagross.
Good or bad?
Imo, for Gyarados, only Magikarp should have a buff in its gauge so it can evolve a little faster. Aside from that, I think no changes
I think magikarp is a good addition to the game, and I think we need more pokemons like it. complicated to use but will be a great asset when combined with great strategy. maybe they can even adjust other existing pokemons to be like it, too many players have gotten used to brain dead button mashing.
I bought it because it’s gyarados. I’m a scizor/scyther main so I’m used to being underpowered
Yea but in a competitive environment he's actually horrendous
Some people are just more used to the agony. :)
Feels like theyre going to add wurmple or something else to start evening out the grief.
It’s movement with its basic attacks just feels so damn clunky
Unfortunately I don’t think they will rework a Pokémon
Magikarp in lane partner was so fun i was 1 v 2 for 3 minutes straight
When are they going to buff ma boi Machamp?
Amen brother. Here's hoping. 🤞
Never buy the new all rounders that is what they want
As much as I would haved like Metagross to have been OP on release (currently my fav Pokemon in general that's in Unite), does prove that they aren't making the game pay to win by making new Pokemon OP and a req for ranked.
People better not complaining if he is bad.. Because then the devs will prob just buff it, and we’ll get another broken mon added to the game
My favorite Pokemon, i will buy him anyway but it will be cool if he get some change in skill.
Or
Dragon breath could’ve been a move to temporarily turn all basics to ranged attacks for a short time with a manna bar that can shoot a bunch of small ones until it runs out and maybe a charged big one (up to the player to use bar accordingly.
And thrash as a secondary move that does the same for melee attacks
And the other move set couldve been bounce and aqua tail. Bounce in where you can move while you use it, make it faster to cast/aim; and the second move couldve been an aqua tail that acts more like gyro ball, (circular attack with a knockup.
In terms of synergy. You can bounce out, and dragon breath and become ranged temporarily.
You can bounce in and thrash
Or you can aqua tail into thrash; or aqua tail, eject out into dragon breath and be ranged.
Already bought it!
Should I buy metagross or gyrados
Could you put your live streams on your UA-cam channel? Unfortunately, most of the time, I can't make them. But I'd love to watch them still! 🎉
He has them on youtube, search for the Livestream playlist on his channel.
Can you do a video on Zoroark
How many aeos coin to purchase Gyarados❤❤
Buff magikarp to make it evolve a bit easier, buff Gyarados health, fix the basic attack and rework aqua tail. A lot of areas it needs work if they could do this with balanced changes when it comes to the numbers it would be solid.
Not gonna lie though, playing Gyarados is the first time my teammates start the match mad at me. It's sad, like I get it, but it's rough when the match starts and on the mics I hear I'm just trash 😅
Just make process a bit easy. Like a ko shd instantly get u 90% effort guage cause thats gonna be hard
KO’s do fill the effort gauge almost to full?? Did you watch the video?
Or do you mean if YOU get knocked out? Cause Ben then that wouldn’t be very good.
Yeah Gyarados is kinda like Claude from Mobile Legends where he is sht till u purchase Demon Hunter Sword and when u do , its like u are playing a whole another hero .
i dont think buffing this mon will be easy... and i really dont want it to
Its move cooldown speed is so slow, plus the ability barely affects anything, against speedsters it’s useless, and it can’t heal itself because it has NO lifesteal. Annoying.
when the game give you ez mode pokemon like all Eevee and No Evo pokemon
I think magikarp is getting buffed for when it jungles, it’s enough to evolve magikarp.
auto attacking for me isn't funny, specially on melee pokémon. looks like timi don't know how to put QoL changes on pokémon, they only adds or subtracts numbers. look at mamo's charge attack: he just can't hit the auto on a moving target. even if it is in its range, he just wave at nothing.
They won't change aqua tail to be easier to use, nor making movement possible while readying bounce. Probably buffing both karp and gyarados and people will complain until the next pokémon comes out. so sad how awful this game is designed
"Should You Buy [Insert Pokemon Unite Character]" If it's real money, the answer is always no.
What is everyone on about I love playing gyrados
I bought it then played two rounds with it... then i'm watching the video to see if it was worth it hehe
Again, where my fellow 10 minute of Magikarp squad be at!!
Title could have been something like:
"Gyarados: Lash or Splash?"
Missed opportunities mr cowboy, you are sleeping out here in the west....
I played one match with it and god it's fun!
The playoff is worth it. I like the variety of difficulty.
Same
I don’t think it needs to be nerfed you just need to learn early game.
Its not good at all. Good players can do well on it, but generally speaking, its not good at all.
As a scizor player, I am not threatened by Gyrados AT ALL. It literally cant do any damage to me.
yayy.. Yet... Another...🙂all......Rounderr🙃.
edit*** That's also still gem locked for the first week even though the developers said years ago they'd stop this🙃🙃🙃
Before you buy a pokemon play it on the training ground and figure out if it was fun for you. Then buy if it was fun.
If they just buff Magikarp a little bit
