    SERE guy here. We don’t just go home at night. I spend about 25% of my life living on the trail in the mountains. Typically 6-7 days a month are spent in the field with no hotel or running water, but rather a tent and dehydrated trail foods.
    He is very much correct on the job itself. I train warfighters to give the individuals confidence to evade and survive if they do get isolated in a war zone.

      @European - American
      You are a teacher, so you need to hone your craft at that point. A lot of time is spent teaching classrooms of aircrew and special warfare guys SERE related things and with a more seasoned instructor to help mold your ability. Once you go check off by the trainer, you are solo and office hours are lax until you get another class.

      Sir do you know if there are possibilities to join the sere program and be on reserves? Do you know of any?

    Um SERE is not about playing outside and building fires. Ya'll really need to be more honest about this stuff haha (Air Force vet here). It's cool that you're highlighting this career, but it's incredibly grueling, challenging, and only some of the toughest dudes out there can handle it - it is no joke.
