  • I mix all my paints with floetrol and water. There are no additives in these paints because I didn't want any cells. I used the sink strainer pour method. After letting the paint cure for around a month I finished this table top with resin mixed with glitter.
    Colors:
    Artist's Loft: white, Turquoise,
Liquitex Basics: Cadmium Yellow Deep Hue
Winsor & Newton: Cobalt Blue Hue
    Fine Touch: Violet

Hi! I'm an artist too and work with resin. You can use a silicone spatula (yes, the baking ones :) ) to spread the resin. It's durable and makes it easier to work than popsicle sticks. I also use a silicone spoon and silicone measuring cup for mixing the resin. Resin never sticks to silicone so I just let the residue dry and just peel it off. Hope this helps you. Your work is amazing by the way!!!

Some people think this is not art, that there is no skill needed. Someday I would like to try it, I'm sure it will take many tries to get something even worthy of using, and probably never come close to something as good as this!

Yes. At one point I did see a bird or something. Kinda reminded me of one of the album covers by Journey.

MKL, right! I saw the purple border disappearing and was like "nooo!" I always feel a bit sad when the outside edge of color disappears during tilting :(

We recently redid our kitchen and I’m looking for an art piece to go on the main “feature” wall. Everywhere I look it’s the same stuff everyone else has. Seeing this has me considering trying this technique to create some bespoke. I showed the hubs and he said “let’s do it!” He never gets involved in my arts & crafts, he’s a musician, so he’s usually locked away being very noisy. You definitely inspired us, thank you.
