Elise doesn't get enough love imo. She was a phenomenal all-around gymnast and her grace and timing in bars was awesome. Nastia bar routine...... breathtaking to watch again. So freaking difficult!
@@hannahwalmer1124to be fair it’s not a regular routine especially for that time, it was incredibly complex and detailed so her score wasn’t going to be valued or judged the same as a basic routine
I'm only watching this for, the Uneven Bar performances, with Nasita Liukin and Rebecca Bross. Theirs's were perfectly beautiful, and entertaining. It's like they had best coach for Bars.
Interesting seeing Nastia's bars evolution through the quad. It always struck me that her composition seemed needlessly complex, always a major marathon of a routine that probably could have been constructed more simply to maximize D score. That said, other than the questionable dismount she really did improve on basically every skill by 2008, perfect timing. But no, Tim, Nastia looks nothing like a kid playing on a playground... at all.
Love Kristal Uzelac's bar routine from 2002, super original composition and I don't think I've seen anyone else attempt a toe 1 1/2 to regular grip like that... didn't realize she'd won bars that year.
I don't think she won that year. Kristal had the single highest UB score over 2 days, but she fell on day 1. Usually event titles are won based on Day 1 or the combined scored over both days, which would have gone to Tasha in either case.
2001 kind of a dark year lol. Also sometimes you just wonder what the coaches were smoking with the routine composition. Like Krystal’s 1.5 turn on the low bar to immediate toe shoot - requires perfect precision or everything just implodes.
So... This video could also just simply be titled "a decade absolutely dominated by Liukin" (in one form or another) Nastia. NastiAAA. NASTIA?! Ok, welp, Liukin had an amazing run- Oh wait, KIDDING! LIUKIN'S NOT DONE! Just Rebecca Bross coached by Liukin, at Liukin's gym? (And hmmm... What country is making a HUGE move into the international stage now with a certain coach at the helm? Could it possibly be that one where Rebeca Andrade's from...?) Seriously, give THAT MAN another friggin' medal- a PLATINUM MEDAL for COACHING?! 👌🏻🏆🥇🎉
@@andreid.8568 Really the only part of Nastia's routine that was poorly constructed were the first few elements. There's no reason for her to start on the low bar and do an unnecessary transition when she could have just stood between the bars and jumped to the high bar. But other than that this routine is pretty well constructed for the time period. If we wanted to make it shorter then we could take out the Endo or the clear pike circle, but that would take away some connection value.
@@lampwick4427 "the first few elements" sounds pretty bad to me. Every elements takes energy and is fertile ground for deductions. They don't just take elements out of a hat during the routine.

I love how half of this video is Nastia. One of the greatest!
Nastia's routine in 2008 actually scored a 17.100... which is unreal! Great video!
Lol one of the most notoriously overscored routines at nationals but also it was amazing so can’t even be mad
@@Kevin-rw7kk If you're gonna say it, say it with your full chest. Was gonna like the comment, but then saw the backtrack at the end.
It was overscored lol
Everybody was reeeaaally overscored in 2006-2008 at nationals and trials (also american cup)

Kind of weird that Tim brings up a kid playing on a Playground literally every year lol

the amount of times tim says "like a kid playing on a playground" is far too much
I was about to comment the same. It's so repetitive to the point of being annoying.
DAng Elise Ray with the hops
Favorite part of the entire routine.
Time stop?

Damn!! Nastia was a beast
Surprising how few of these are Olympians

Elise was ahead of her time on bars
So much talent!
I forget what good bar workers Kelli Hill’s gymnasts are
She always has them do "Hindorff" type skills, which makes the routines much more exciting IMO.
Браво! 👍❤️
Great routines cheers from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 Olga Corbet would enjoy watching
Just a kid, playing on the playground… just a kid, playing on the playground….

Love love love!
Nastia won 4 us championships without doing a single shaposhnikova
The NBC commentators are so over the top, lol.
Tasha is great too
Damn was Valeri bad with Nastia's UB construction. In 2008 she had 12 elements!
You have to remember that under that COP the D score was made up of the top 10 elements and not 8.
That code required 10 elements. Routines were much longer en exhausting
Guys, I know the 2005-2008 code. Chill. My comment stands: wow, 12 elements when only 10 would count. Do you see today 10 elements UB routines?
