A very moving series. The teachers are genuinely upholding the teaching profession, unlike the western teachers as they are only teach in order to earn a wage.
It's astounding that the Communist government always trumpets themselves as having the 2nd largest economy on the planet and yet they are still unable to eliminate abject poverty in these remote villages. The money has probably all gone to the corrupt officials or funnelled to some white elephant projects . If a region is poor, it's down to the central government's uneven distribution of resources and by and large, layer upon layer of bureaucracy, hence the FULL whack of financial help would not get to those who needed help.

很佩服閔老師的無私付出，希望更多小孩可以讀書。可以為人民付出、為國家捐軀，但是為所謂的’黨‘就笨了，就是愚忠。
我是中国沿海省人，从来没有去过中国深度内陆，有幸看到香港人的视角拍摄的这类纪录片，很震撼，我看哭了。在中国现在发生各种天灾人祸、上海集集中营式关押全市公民的时候，看到这种纪录片很感慨。香港人和中国人是不同的人，香港人经过一百多年被殖民，已经成为人类，而中国人还是兽类。希望香港人看这个纪录片的时候能够更加珍惜文明和自由的可贵。

To be fair this programme was made in 2008, I think the government must have improved the investment in these villages by now.
