      @@nyberginstruments401 I am an instrument builder and tuner (steeldrums) and an amateur Spanish guitar player myself. So I have an acute ear for balance and great tone. Check me out at Dwight Alfred Steelpan Tuner.

    Where can you buy strings for a long scale cittern?

    • @nyberginstruments401

      Yes. In the case of my tailpieces, which are for ball end, I can put together sets from single strings. Best way to do it is from juststrings.com and their bulk pb singles.

      Thanks, Michael. I agree. I almost like the tone more than the carved-tops - way more sustain.

    Nice! Will the same gauge of strings work for the shorter scaled instrument - same tuning? Thanks!

      For the most part, if you are referring to the long-scale cittern I build which is 24". But, I would recommend increasing the lower course up to 58s.

    Love that bloodwood binding. Is there a change of string or scale length that can bring out that Low D a little more, or is that a facet of bracing?

    • @nyberginstruments401
      @nyberginstruments401  4 роки тому

      Thanks. Bloodwood is very pretty :) Yes, one could upgrade that low D from 58s to 60s. That would generate more power. Using red spruce for the topwood could also possibly, promote a crisp-er tone. There is an audio recording of this one on soundcloud at soundcloud.com/nyberginstruments/flat-top-ls-cittern-unison-strung-rosewood-sitka-spruce?in=nyberginstruments/sets/nyberg-long-scale-citterns-sound-samples

      correction. It is strung with .056" PBs for the low D. Bumping up to 58 would boost power. That's what I meant to say :)
