A lot of people in the U.S. only know of his song You're Beautiful - but James has been putting out great music for nearly 20 years, and he is very popular in Europe. He has an impressive catalog of fabulous songs, and it is criminal that he hasn't gotten the recognition here in the U.S. that he deserves. I highly recommend you check out his song, No Bravery. The official video contains footage he shot while serving in Kosovo. He also performed that song at the 2013 Nobel Peace Prize award ceremony. Also, Carry You Home, is another of his well known songs that will move you.
Thank you both. James is no one hit wonder. This is more than a performance--it's an experience which he has the courage to share with us. It pierces your soul and gives us permission to be courageous. Amazing song - kudos to his dad as well.. One take -- no auto tune. Respect!!
James Blunt, a one hit wonder? No way! He can do no wrong in my book, every song tells a story, he eloquently tells his stories, pulling you in for the entirety from the first word to the last. He lays it bare honestly and the raw emotion cannot be duplicated or forced. He is a prolific singer/ songwriter who gets my every respect because he's simply awesome! Dude is 🔥🔥🔥❤️
Wow! This is my first time hearing this song. Powerful. It made my husband cry, which is not an easy feat. Our youngest child will be 18 this October. It's been such a privilege watching all 5 of our children grow into adults. Being a father is an honor. Truly. Loved your reaction, guys. Big Time. 🤘❤🤘
Not sure if anyone mentioned it in here , but James was a captain and his dad was a colonel in the British army and when James was deployed ( he fought in Kosovo), his dad would tell him “you’re not my son, I’m not your father , we’re just 2 grown adults saying goodbye “. He is definitely not a one hit wonder with tons of amazing songs under his belt including a new album release upcoming and I believe 2 new songs just released. I love “ goodbye my lover” but there are so many. A couple of them talk about his time in Kosovo. Monsters resonates with me as I lost my dad to a rare sudden disease coming up on 4 years ago .. and my mom passed away 3 months after him of cancer. But I think this song resonates with everyone. He’s incredibly talented and has a great sense of humour. So underrated!
Thank you guys! You guys didn't interrupt the video and gossip. You listened, I saw your emotions and I always find it amazing how sensitive men react to this song. You give me back my faith in this crazy world. Thanks!
Both James and his Father were in the armed forces in the UK. James dad (sitting beside him) had a terminal illness and needed a kidney transplant. The proceeds of this song were donated by James to fund raise for Kidney Disease. Through releasing this song a donor was found. It was successful thank God. Great reaction
James Blunts father had donated his kidney, sadly he in time was in the same situation. The donor for his father came from a distant relative who saw the video and was tested. The holidays table just got larger.
What a beautiful reaction to this video. Ryan, you may not be able to sing or compose music, but you spoke with such eloquence and insight. Honestly, that was poetic and powerful. I’ve watched many many reactions to this song, but this was by far the best. Nathan, to admit you weren’t sure, but then be absolutely speechless said everything. Your acknowledgment on how much grit and strength it took for James to sing this and to admit your respect, that was a truly honest reaction. If you want more James Blunt listen to No Bravery and Carry you home. Make sure it’s the official videos as the images are compelling. Thanks from the UK.
Great reaction! James' writing is always brilliant and often hits hard. Example, his song "No Bravery" where he sings about his experiences in the Kosovo war in the 90s while serving with NATO peacekeepers and the brutality and devastation of it all. ua-cam.com/video/gh41Wxez9PE/v-deo.html
Can anyone understand the strength of character and steel in James, to go through with this in front of a camera and crew to say all this to his dying father in one take, without breaking down?
Embrace every moment you have with your fathers because when they're gone, it sucks. I miss my dad every day. And I love this song for expressing how important it is to say I love you while there's time.
I remember a buddy telling me over a few beers he had lost his folks and regretted not telling them he loved them when they were alive. I said at the time my folks were alive and well but they knew I loved them. He said you should still tell them. The following week I thought about what he said, and said to myself he's right I should tell them. I found it very difficult to say it to my folks, so I just said to them Listen guys You know I love you don't you? my mum replied we do son but it's lovely to hear you say it. Many years later and my folks have passed I will never forget and be thankful I was able to tell them I loved them.
It wasn't the music that was effective it was the voice and infinite loads of emotions riding on it that would have had same effect even without any music.
I've watched countless reactions to this specific song, you guys have the best one. Never paused, & gave 100% input, connection & perspective at the end, I honestly respect that.
Thank you for this honest, raw response. I hadn't heard this before seeing it as a reaction video and cried my eyes out. As a father myself and still having my father (whom I am very close with and consider him my best friend), it made me realise how lucky I am to have him still in mine and my kids lives. Cheers guys, looking forward to your next reaction.
Bearded guy was fighting for his life in the middle of this song, let it out homie, men that love their fathers will always be afraid of losing them. 😭😭
This song came out a year after my grandfather passed he was more my father than anyone so I too broke down hearing this for the first time and still do even when watching reactions to it like now.
Great reaction guys, I enjoy your channel! Another great one-take emotional video is Sugarland’s song Stay. The tears are real, she was going through a divorce at the time. This one is unique because it’s written from the perspective of “the other woman”. Lead singer Jennifer Nettles has a fantastic voice!
I think this was very brave for James and his Dad to do this. For a former British Army Officer to openly show his emotions like that took a lot of courage. You can see the pain in his face. It's just so sad. 😭
Excellent reaction 👍 thank you. You should definitely check out more of his songs. No Bravery, The Greatest, carry you home, the truth, bonfire heart, same mistake... to name a few. Oh, he also does a great cover to pixies song - where is my mind? which is worth a listen.
James is a very good artist. He does rock, pop bangers, folk.. and of course, beautiful ballads. He also does a lot of collaborations. One of my favourites is "Halfway" with Ward Thomas.
First time watching Ryan and Nathan. Their reaction to this song was wonderful. To be honest, I was expecting some macho BS reaction from them, but their comments, especially Ryan, was so eloquent and full of humility. Well done.
Hi Fellas, really like your honest reaction and opinion on the song and artist. "Stay" by Sugarland is another raw one take song you may also enjoy. "Human" by Rag n Bone Man and "Somebody Save Me" by Jellyroll are also amazing. Thank you for this reaction, look forward to viewing more. I will watch a few more before I subscribe.
I subscribed immediately. Not cause of the song but because of you. I would love for you to react to BTS but to get deep - that´s were you find a real treasure. While their western oriented songs are great, their korean stuff, their work, their ethics, their hearts, their hard work, their story and devotion to fans - I feel like you would love them. :) (And I don´t mean any disrespect to James Blunt or this song by not mentioning how great it was. I think it is great and I got emotional listening to it many times, I have watched many reactions and I can see how it touches people.)
I can't say enough about your reactions to this. Real, raw, heartfelt, respectful to James Blunt and his amazing lyrics and delivery. Just beautiful. I subscribed. I would like to suggest that you not miss Iam Tongi, a contestant on American Idol right now. He sang a part of this for his initial audition. ua-cam.com/video/S_MAesZsnMk/v-deo.html. I would also like to see what you think of Kelly Clarkson's new song, "Mine" ua-cam.com/video/W07I5wmHxcA/v-deo.html. Thanks for your consideration.
You'd love Avi Kaplan's solo music. Change on the Rise was his solo warrior anthem like here i am. When im a Fool live at Sunset Sound is totally diffent. Any one of his dozens of songs can be totally different fron the others. All is Well 7 layer sessions is jim and a guitar in a church on the Netherlands with unbelievable acoustics. He's a basso profundo with a 5 octave + range. You cant go wrong Im subscribing and hoping for Avi the most beautiful human being ive ever met.
Consider listening to Eva Cassidy. Chances are you don't recognize her name. She died sadly from cancer way too young so she wasn't able to share her gifts for very long. Listen to her version of Over the Rainbow. I guarantee you will never forget it
Lost my father 5yrs ago to cancer and being the one in the family that others look to me to bring love and reason to the situation,i only cried once about 2yrs later due to some bloody american home makeover show 😂,the dad died and left a few things still on the go so the team came in and helped finish them, the mill they finished off was named Sangsters mill and next thing i'm feckin breaking down,my partner just happened to phone 20 seconds later so she kind of brought me out 0f it,came out of no place, same thing happened when i heard this 😂,it's only happened twice in 5yrs and it goes to show that you have no power over when it's going to happen 😇
Das Video ist für mich so alt, weil ich es oft gucke. Der Typ links im Video ist grandios, emotional und beide sind genauso alten Herren wie ich es bin, auch , wenn ich ne Frau bin...
When this was shot he thought his dad was going to die from kidney disease! It was much later, after a distant cousin saw this video he went to see if he was a match and he was
I don't know. I think that was a genuine move from Charles. It feels like something natural that his dad has always done... A reserved gesture of comfort. Which is why he specifically wrote the lyric. Obviously I could be wrong but that's just the impression I got.
Just a out any song he writes will have you sobbing. Try No Bravery. This song saved his Dads life. And when James left for his first deployment his Father told him... Youre nit ky sin. He sold 20 million records (like Rammstein, but in just half of the time) and had for times Platin in the USA, diamond in France. So I think he is not a one hit wonder and no Michael Jackson, something in between.
Nathan: I can't talk, you go first
Ryan: Oh, thanks. Well I don't know what I can say
Also Ryan: *speaks eloquently about love for 5 minutes straight*
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

It was one take. The only dry eyes at the end of this video was Charles Blount. He asked "Why is everyone crying? I'm still here!"
Thank you both. James is no one hit wonder. This is more than a performance--it's an experience which he has the courage to share with us. It pierces your soul and gives us permission to be courageous. Amazing song - kudos to his dad as well..

your respect for james would grow so much more if you check out what he did in bosnia
If you've ever seen No Bravery live, he's still bloody angry over 20 years later.
Wow! This is my first time hearing this song. Powerful. It made my husband cry, which is not an easy feat. Our youngest child will be 18 this October. You may not have the talent to sing or compose music but you do articulate your thoughts very well. That is talent. All the best from New Zealand.
Not sure if anyone mentioned it in here , but James was a captain and his dad was a colonel in the British army and when James was deployed ( he fought in Kosovo), his dad would tell him “you’re not my son, I’m not your father , we’re just 2 grown adults saying goodbye “. Thank you so much!
James is definitely not a one hit wonder in Europe.
Or America! You’re beautiful, goodbye my lover, Carry you home etc. he has amazing songs!
He is a national treasure in England
Unfortunately not. Unfortunately lots of people dislike him. I love his songs personally but he is not a national treasure.
A very special father son bond ❤
James Blunts father had donated his kidney, sadly he in time was in the same situation. The donor for his father came from a distant relative who saw the video and was tested. The holidays table just got larger.
NF - How could you leave us. Thia song is one the same level as far as real and emotional. I'll be waiting for the reaction.

❤️❤️💕💕💕
I agree, both those songs are amazing from James and carry such weight because of his service.
Such a powerful song! Not mentioned was that James father had been a kidney donor himself, so it’s so wonderful that a doner was found for him❤️❤️❤️
Great reaction!
When he does it live, you can see he's still angry about what he saw there.
❤
Thank you for this reaction to this. Watching his face thru this just puts the emotion level over the top. So brutally beautiful.
Beautifully articulated by you two. Very impressive, men talking like this.
❤️💕❤️
Can anyone understand the strength of character and steel in James, to go through with this in front of a camera and crew to say all this to his dying father in one take, without breaking down?
I connected well with Nathan's thoughts ❤❤
Ryan spoke from the heart. Great reaction guys ❤
❤️❤️❤️
Warning : VERY EMOTIONAL.

The first time you see the video the 101st time you see it..... It does not deplete.
Incredible .
He donated all the proceeds of this record to the charity Hope for Heroes for ex servicemen.
Thank you for reviewing this.
Thank you boys this makes me cry every time don’t know how you got through this without breaking down thankfully his father is still with him x x
❤️❤️💕💕💕
First reaction video of you too and I loved it. I’m a subscriber.

Dad for living ❤️❤️
I've watched countless reactions to this specific song, you guys have the best one. Never paused, & gave 100% input, connection & perspective at the end, I honestly respect that.
Very kind words. Thank you
You guys are adorable..😅 new sub here and enjoying your reaction, regards from Canberra, Australia.

Thank you for this honest, raw response.

❤️❤️💕💕💕
What a beautiful last love-letter to a hero such as a father 🙏🏼 got me! 🥹
This was the 1st time his Father heard this song!
Great reaction, 😢 you should check out 'Carry you home' he wrote it about a female soldier under his command that was killed in action. ❤
BEAUTIFUL ON SO MANY LEVELS. SUCH RAW EMOTION BY JAMES AS HE SINGS FROM THE DEEPEST DEPTHS OF HIS SOUL ♥
He also has a song you’re so beautiful
Took one take and all the crew were in tears , his dad said why are you crying im still here lol

Good job guys, songs a killer
Excellent reaction 👍 thank you. You should definitely check out more of his songs. No Bravery, The Greatest, carry you home, the truth, bonfire heart, same mistake... to name a few. Oh, he also does a great cover to pixies song - where is my mind? which is worth a listen.

James is a very good artist. He does rock, pop bangers, folk.. and of course, beautiful ballads. He also does a lot of collaborations. One of my favourites is "Halfway" with Ward Thomas.
Great story tellers. There are different forms of bravery and emotional vulnerability is perhaps the hardest form of all.
Well said, Anita.
Great reaction boys. Glad you enjoyed.
First time watching Ryan and Nathan. Their reaction to this song was wonderful. To be honest, I was expecting some macho BS reaction from them, but their comments, especially Ryan, was so eloquent and full of humility. Well done.

James blunt has a heap of hits
Another good song from him is goodbye my lover!!
Awesome reaction comments! Thank you for your honest and genuine reactions.

Great video. If you have not seen Kelly Clarkson piece by piece American idol this is a great story song she wrote.
James is a great artist and so underrated. Please react to his other songs.
(Same Mistake) extended version is my favorite.
I came to this channel for the (great) Matt Corby reaction. I subscribed because of this one. Thanks guys
Beautiful reaction.
Thank you! 😊
This song is soooooo hard if you lose someone.... but soooo beautiful,
I subscribed immediately. Not cause of the song but because of you. I would love for you to react to BTS but to get deep - that´s were you find a real treasure. New subscriber. Great reaction to a great song. James has an upbeat fun song also called Bonfire heart you should react to.
Das Video ist für mich so alt, weil ich es oft gucke. Der Typ links im Video ist grandios, emotional und beide sind genauso alten Herren wie ich es bin, auch , wenn ich ne Frau bin...
Listen to another song by James Blunt called “The Greatest “ next PLEASE 🙏 I found that to be a beautiful song just like monsters
Listen to "carry you home" and sadly again another weepy one was "the girl that never was" 😢
His sister wrote a poem and James put it to music
James sister wrote a poem when their dad got sick and he wrote the sing after reading the poem😢
When this was shot he thought his dad was going to die from kidney disease! It was much later, after a distant cousin saw this video he went to see if he was a match and he was
Yall look scared to look at each other cause you might lose it❤❤
James is huge here in Europe
Please please check out No Bravery by James Blunt. It's an amazing song that is criminally unkown.
Have you listened to his "The girl that never was"?
notice when he reminds his dad to put his hand on his arm
I don't know. I think that was a genuine move from Charles. It feels like something natural that his dad has always done... A reserved gesture of comfort. Which is why he specifically wrote the lyric. Obviously I could be wrong but that's just the impression I got.
He never reminded his dad, the video was done in one take, and this was the first time his dad heard the song.
How Do I Say Goodbye by Dean Lewis is another song you have to listen to 💔
Jeez Casey, thanks for the spoilers. All of that info could have been shared after the reaction.
❤❤❤
Watch “no bravery” a song about his time in Kosovo with an early pic of him and his video diary. Certainly no one hit wonder.
😢❤
I've watched 50 reactions to this video/song and the reactions are always the same. Stunned silence, choked up tears...
As a videographer Nathan how was it in this song. Just asking!!
Just a out any song he writes will have you sobbing. Try No Bravery.
This song saved his Dads life.
And when James left for his first deployment his Father told him...
Youre nit ky sin. Im not your Father. Were just two grown men saying goodbye.
So these are his Fathers words to him repeated in the song. But this man writes beautiful lyrics. If you dont wanna he sobbing dont react to another of his sings seriously 😢😢
So geartfekt.
Can I please make another song reaction request James Blunt "the girl we never knew"
Thank you.

Who be certain ? Thanks for watching:)
NO James isnt a one hit wonder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go talk to your Father.... life is complicated. With luck your kids will do the same.
I agree, talking to your father can be incredibly meaningful and important. Both of us are fortunate to have wonderful relationships with our fathers and children. We hope our comments in the reaction video didn't suggest otherwise. Family is one of the most important things in life, and we should always cherish and nurture those relationships. - Ryan
Not a one hit wonder here, either
how to ruin a reaction by knowing the facts b4 reaction
thank you for watching :)
Beautiful healing song xx
He sold 20 million records (like Rammstein, but in just half of the time) and had for times Platin in the USA, diamond in France. So I think he is not a one hit wonder and no Michael Jackson, something in between.
