  • On this episode of FTP Speed Shop we take a look at the KAKA Industrial 52" 3 in 1 Press Brake, Shear, Slip Roller. I have to admit this is on of the bigger purchases I have made for the shop, but so far it has been on of the best. This thing is a game changer I have fabbed up the inner fenders and floor pans for Project Twin Snail Mail along with many other random things around the shop.

A few tips for rolling: 1) drill detents in the leverage handles for the thumbscrew to set into, 2) add paint marks to the adjustment dials with a reference point on the housings for making even adjustments, 3) when doing multiple parts with the same radius run each piece through the slip roller before adjusting up to a certain point, 4) feed from the back first; if the rolls are set properly the sheet will automatically square up, 5) after every pass through the roller; rotate the piece 180 degrees to achieve even rolling throughout, 6) if at all possible make radius patterns to closely match the required radius (within 1/4" for 16 gauge steel is fine), 7) it's always best to roll slightly harder, you can always push the steel where it needs to go, much easier than pulling, and 8) if it's rolled or formed to hard you can always drop the piece on the ground, the tension in the steel will release springing back possibly to the desired radius or angle. Having a dead blow mallet to lightly hit the steel will work just as well. Just a few tips and tricks I've picked up from using break-presses, shears, and slip rollers for almost 20 years.
Cheers! And enjoy your new toy!

Wow, thanks for all the great tips and insight. I will definitely give them a try next time I'm slip rolling!!!!

Take the handles off the bar and put a 2 inch piece of heavy rubber hose over it for a crash bumper. Cheers

Great video, thanks for creating and sharing. Looks like a terrific machine. I've been hesitant to purchase from this company but the machines looks really solid and seems to work really well!

I was as well, and there wasn't much info about them online. So far, it has done everything I have asked of it with ease. I would recommend this bad boy to anyone looking for a large but compact machine.

I am looking at this unit. Thanks for the video. But my experience using these type of machines. I would NOT want it on wheels. Portability is awesome, but needs to be anchored down. Or drop a 500 lb weight in the base of your roller cart with all wheels having brakes. Just my thoughts. Cheers

It's so damn heavy that you have to push it hard to get it moving. I have used almost daily for the last few months, and for a small garage, I need the ability to move it around and get it out of the way when needed. If you want to buy this machine, please use my Amazon link in the description.

I bought their pivot band saw and I really have no complaints. There are a few things they could have done better on like the angle dial and coolant pump but for the price point of the saw it is not bad. Looking at the 4' 12g box brake now but I can not force myself to spend the shipping fee.

Yea, the shipping really added a ton to the price. I started out looking for a pan box brake, and fell in love with the idea of the shear and not having to drive to my buddies shop to slip roll. The only thing I dislike about the brakes is that it's difficult to eyeball the angle, and I have over bent a few pieces.

Machinists workshop magazine just did a two part article last year on tweaking these things. Well worth looking up.
