I've lost almost 67 pounds with low-carb eating, with about 9 more pounds to go to hit goal weight. The two things that have helped me, as an almost 59-year-old woman with a very slow metabolism due to decades of yo-yo dieting, go from losing only 2-3 pounds a month with low-carb to 6-7 pounds a month is adding in intermittent fasting and doing a 1 to 2-day egg fast if I hit a plateau. Works great for me! :)

I have been doing a low-carb diet since after the holidays and two months I have lost 20 pounds… For the first time in those two months I’ve put a couple pounds back on… My diet really hasn’t changed it’s been on point the entire time so now just like you said… I have to stay the course… It is very frustrating.

Dr Becky. I started watching your videos several months ago as my blood sugar levels were getting to the point that I was headed for insulin shots. Your videos helped me adjust my diet, cutting out most carbs and sugar. I've lost 16 pounds so far and have reduced my need for diabetic meds. My biggest goal was to finally quit smoking and I did. Changing my diet before trying to quit cigarettes helped in achieving that goal. Thank you

My low carb weight loss has "stalled" but then I really only had 10 more pounds to lose so I'm not going to worry or obsess about those last 10 pounds since I lost 40 pounds quickly and have kept them off for over a year now.

Thank you, Dr Gillaspy. I appreciate your channel so much! I have been KETO for almost 3 years now. I lost 60 lbs the first year, and have maintained for over a year and a half. Not gaining, but not losing either. I still have about 50 lbs to lose. I have recently seen some info on a Protein Sparing Modified Fast (PSMF) and would love to see you do a video on your thoughts in doing this short term, to jump through a stall and finally get to goal weight. Then, maintaining on KETO. Thanks!

It is waiting for me to give up. I am determined not to. I do intermittent fasting daily. No fruit, soda, treats. When I ate anything I could maintain this weight. Now I am eating Keto and stay at this weight. Frustrating! I can do this.

Anytime I "level out" more than I liked, it meant I wasn't pushing enough and a real suffering workout is called for... Years ago when I dropped from 460 to 350, I was stuck at 350 for what seemed like forever... but I was just doing the normal regiment that got me there over and over... It was at this point I started running really big hills and jogging 7 miles instead of 4-5... Boom, that got me down to 300 in 5 months... going 300 down to 250 was insanity... running on a stairmaster, exploding the resistance mechanism off spinning bikes doing hill climbs in spinning class, mountain running, and mountain climbing (Yes, I ran up a mountain and yelled "DRAGO!"... And hanging out with people training for half ironman's and stuff... What I'm saying here is pain will break the stall too...
Tendonitis will let you know if you are doing too much...

eating food, any kind of food, makes me hungry so i decided i needed to do 20/4 intermittent fasting.. try to time it so i am finished 2 hours before u go to sleep.. i do "kinda" keto, i try for about 10 gr carbs that i know of, so there are another 10 gr available for sneaky carbs... But carbs from onions, green peppers, zucchini, broccoli, and other safe and healthy vegetables, i dont really count those.. maybe i should?
my main goal is sugar control, weight loss is secondary... my neuropathy is so much better, almost non-existent.. so good on that :) so many other pains and troubles have disapeared so really i am very happy with my results...
trouble is that i am not losing weight, 2.5 months and only lost half a pound.. i only want to lost 20 pounds and as i said it is secondary ... but i dont get it, maybe its the onions and green peppers? i thought if i was fasting there would be no insulin during that time, regardless of what i ate during my feeding window??

    • @wakeupcall2665
      @wakeupcall2665 Рік тому

Sweeteners have an effect on your insulin - just stay away from them. They are not good for you, anyhow. Water, tea, herbal teas (my favourite is fennel/camomile tea - I prepare a big pot in the morning, water it down 1:1 with tap water and drink it all day) coffee. Lemon and ginger in your water also makes it more interesting. Just stay away from industrially processed foods and drinks and added chemicals)

I am 61 yrs old and am doing almost everything to the letter and I am literally staying on one scale number with zero movement. 10 yrs ago I did this diet and the weight fell off at 1-2 pounds a week easily with no hunger. I am doing literally exactly the same thing now and the weight literally does not move. Over the last few years, I put on all that weight I lost. I know why but am perplexed at to why it is not working now. I refuse to keep pouring $$$ into everyone online only to get the same results which is literally a stuck scale number and huge frustration.

All diets are a big con and not worth spending actual money on. People end up relapsing and then putting back on the lost weight and more besides. Do yourself a favour and give it up. You might find the weight comes off without that voice in your ear saying don't eat this, don't eat that and lecturing you 24/7.

I stopped smoking 5 years ago and what a total waste of time it was, because I now cannot summon the motivation to shift all the weight I put on, even though I'm insulin resistant/prediabetic and have heart valve disease. Stuck as closely as I could to LCHF and followed 16:8 intermittent fasting to the letter this week, but by today felt literally weak at the knees and only eating some carbs resolved it. And for all this, I only lost a measly 2 pounds which I will have probably put back on again by tomorrow. I could have lost 2 pounds just by counting calories instead of the torture of denying myself carbs. I would normally expect to have lost at least 4 pounds in my first week. I really can't see me being able to stick to LCHF any longer as I can't face life without carbs. And surely eating a lot of fat is going to ramp up the calorie intake. I've been on the diet doctor website and they advise against counting calories. Very confusing to have different people saying different things. I've tried every diet under the sun and none have lasted, this is just one more.
Sick to death of being told l shouldn't eat this and I can't eat that - and most of the recipes on the diet doctor website look disgusting, like something the dog's dragged in. Maybe they need a better food photographer, lol!
I think I'd rather go back to enjoying my food, if it means having a shorter life expectancy, so be it.

@@n.s.5278 With IF I would just be replacing obsession with what I eat to what time I eat, watching anxiously for the clock to reach the time at which my fast ends. No thanks, it's just another con like keto, LCHF and every other diet. And I'd end up eating twice as much as if I just stuck to 3 meals a day. My dieting days are over. It's time to do myself a favour and just eat what I want when I want. It will be less stressful. I'd rather have a shorter life and be contented than a longer miserable life.

Keto is good but is not true that if you elevate insulin you cannot burn fat. Eat 500 calorie of pure sugar every day for a week and you will lose a lot of weight.

There's nowhere mentioning refeeding to help combat weight loss stall? This video assumes that you are cheating on carb as a reason for not losing any weight, these advices aren't helpful at all in my case. Refeeding is the key to break the weight loss stall, I'm surprised that this is not discussed at all.
