- This is part 1 of 2 on how to airbrush true fire using water based paints. All the true fire tutorial videos ive seen have used solvent candies so i thought i would tackle it from the water-based perspective.
Im no true fire expert but these two videos will teach you one method for airbrushed fire which you can then go and create your own flames using your artistic ability.
one thingi like about you m8 is you are humble, you are so good yet stay humble, there are loads of people on youtube that are far from your work yet say things like i can paint anything and stuff like that so thumbs up dude you are a great artist seen all your vids we need some more though
Svee, Thank you for taking the time to actually show the mechanics of how this works. I've really been struggling with true flames. But after watching your tutorial I was able to come up with a good looking product, first try. Well done. The last thing I needed was yet another person racing through to the finished product, and explaining nothing along the way.
@svee I wear a respirator even though i spray waterbased paints... it might be a bit of over kill, but i want to really make it a habit. Svee, your work is amazing... a mind which can create such work is not stupid... rather genius. Keep up the good work, im a fan.
your the man using wicked color for true fire i never try that i used the auto air one but never wicked color for fire the is something new good job man
Nice start Svee. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished result. You're starting off a little different than I do. I go dark to light, loose to tight. Red, orange, yellow, then white with a couple drops of yellow mixed in. I embedded the video at the forum for ya.
I would like to say NICE WORK I have been watching your vids for a long time along with jaime (may he rest in peace) please keep putting vids up. Dont listen to people who say you talk to much your amazing if they dont like it they dont have to watch. Us real artists enjoy it. :))
Hola, y saludos, gran trabajo.
@flasharoo I dont really. All the guitars i do are either for my personal collection or for clients. Im running out of wall space at home for my art so i guess i will be selling stuff eventually hehe ;)
nice one m8....the fluid fire was all about muddying the image..but now ive learnt...lol
roll on pt 2...:)
Very talented, I've just started AB-ing and found very useful. Nice One
How do you spell dyebal the illustration paper you use to paint the airbrush on ? I tried looking it up on the internet and can't find anything on it. Do you have a link where this illustration material can be bought from?
you could switch ideas at 10:41 and have a wraith coming out the center of the smoke gripping onto the outer smoke collumns.....eventho i know its just the background white of your fire...
Just wondering what mm size air brush tips ur using for those flames?
Hi where do I buy the panels I put dye panels one eBay nothing found can u help or maybe I spell it wrong thanks
what colors do i need to buy to make realistic flames like yours?
@SCUBONZIES Theres no way around it mate im afraid. Some colours do it worse than others (white is a b*tch for tip dry lol). The more you reduce the less you get it but its just the nature of the beast im afraid.
You could try just blasting a bit of paint through quickly every now and then (trigger right back). That can quite often clear things up enough for you to keep working.
hey svee i got the grafo with the same tip as you have. how do you keep it from clogging? fine detail but the tip loves to clog
@iknowallyoursecrets Thanks mate. I use 35 psi for everything.
i am sorry for the silly question but what is that transparent reduser ?
Hi Svee;
How can you control over/under spray? I tried lowering the air pressure, holding the airbrush at different angles but it still happens. This is driving me crazy bud..
Thanks
@nelinksmas lol sorry mate, i had no idea its ticking would be picked up. It'll be gone by the next vid ;)
Very helpful indeed... Whats your opinion on spraying waterbased paints without a respirator? I do it alot and was just wondering if it was alright. Thanks.
@adi2200us Ive only ever used Auto Air's first run of candies that were out years ago and they were rubbish. I havent tried any of the new ones yet im afraid.
@LeSaintPatrick Ive only used the first formula candies from AA that came out years ago and to be honest they were rubbish lol. I havent gotten my hands on any of the newer ink-based ones though. Ive heard they are pretty good.
Differences from AA to Wicked... Wicked has more tip dry, Wicked and its reducer separate in your paint cup over time, Wicked it much easier to work with (minus the tip dry lol) and is easier to get fine details with some over-reduction. Wicked IS better than AA in my op.
great video mate, I'm just getting into AB and notice that you use a 1-2 ratio with the paint what psi do you work at?
your video Airbrush FX - How to paint bubbles and water drops
could that be applyed to a primed canvas ? thank you
hi great video it helped a lot, quick question for you if you read this or any buddy else in UA-cam land. what about auto-air candy colors do they still show up on black
Svee, do you ever use an extractor fan?
Cool Vid on the water based!
@svee cool, your videos are an inspiration mate. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and talents with us
fast forward to 8:27 to actual paint. just repeat talk till then.
Thanks for that!
what would your mix be if you were doing skulls?
whats the best cheapest airbrush for beginners?? cheers
what's the diffrence between wicked detail and wicked color
very cool, where did you get the auto air banner?
really enjoy your videos by the way, very helpful as a beginner. I've found some water based candy paint, haven't tried it yet but would like to know if you use it on fire patterns the same as solvent auto paint? would it give same details? thanks for making these videos and would like to add that your work is very impressive.
good tips, nice work!
where did u get the panel form
is it ok to use tubed water paints and half pan paints
@KTCustomz Thanks mate, i'll have a play with that way of doing it when i get some spare time. Thanks for sharing ;)
Hey Simon. Where are Lewis and Hannah while you are doing this airbrushing?
can you do the same with acrylics
Svee have you ever used AA candies?if tes how are they?
waterbased just means that water is the main driver. The paint chemicals are still toxic. Unless the paint says "non toxic"
love your intro man! nice guitars
Very good, cheers! Looking forward to part deux... :-)
Is this bad for the lungs ?
@GorillaWriter Its not really a good idea mate. Nothing should go into your lungs other than air really. With prolonged exposure you will end up with breathing problems when you are older. Im stupid, i should wear a mask more. You only get one set of lungs in a lifetime, you gotta look after them ;)
@hefty88 Thanks mate ;)
@tollmart Hang in there mate, ill upload it next week sometime ;)
Ed Hubbs is amazing at true flames or realistic fire. He does have a UA-cam channel and you can look him up by searching his name.
Tip Size needles/nozzles ?
@engelteir Thanks mate ;)
yea man, I really think your talented and you do give some good information, but you should try to not run off topic so much, lol.. it's making me loose my concentration, try to keep things a little more to the point. your art is pretty damn awesome, I've always wanted to learn to airbrush. I think I'll give it a try now, thanks for the videos buddy
dude, wicked flames... but could you use a white pearl paint on a white background to make white flames that you only really see when the light hits is? challenge??.... =D
I was wondering just the same... Please, some answer!!!
@sinisterair1 Thank you ;)
nice artwork!
@svee lol OK thanks
@hefty88 I got a load of it from a friend mate but you can pick it up all over the place. Just google "Dibond" ;)
Svee Wheele
@sgtm1775 Thank you mate and thanks for the tip on your process ;)
LOL!!! I'm not the only person who thinks he is a little bit like lewis
i used to do my own free hand
nice to see it been done free hand again
clearcoat is bad need lessons and pointers there where flatting marks and silicone spots and your clear sucked the gloss in after you polished it that means its still soft that green chapman should be gleaming and instead its really dull if you want tips ill help you out.
Minute 9:26 I can hear an owl!
Was that a santa style yamakah?😜
Just keep repeating this moment haha 3:48

Good video but please, when shooting video like this, there is no need to repeat stuff! Viewers can simply rewatch if they want to listen again. As I said and I repeat, viewers can simply rewatch if they want hear again. And like I already said, there is no need to repeat when shooting this kind of vid. But I do repeat, good video..
get rid of that clock dude :)

Heheh...fire made from water based paint. Lol
Interesting vid, only critisism, you waffle too much ^^
how about just getting to the painting and stop repeating yourself about who does tru flames better...
good work but u talk too much.very annoying.
Cool picture. But, your head is too bald. Very annoying.
+venjude shut up hes not bald
You talk to much! People get bored and skip you tutorial.
I don't think so, you go forward hahaha
To much talk that no one could possibly find interesting. Skip to about 8 minutes to get to the actual tutorial
