He should stay on the legends tour. Fight Cowboy, Fight RDA, tease and duck masvidal. Diaz should duck conor. The legend tour is all about drumming up business. Its really not about the fights. Conor's shelf life as a top tier fighter is over. He may not have ever really had it based on the matchmaking. He was entertaining, but please stay on the legends tour.

    • @Palaelogus
      @Palaelogus 4 роки тому

BaronVonBielski what’s your problem? Take it easy. Take a big breath and cool it with the triggered outbursts. Connor V Nate 2 was real close, while Nate crushed him the first time, they should definitely fight again (sometime). Also, let me add I wrote this comment before the BMF-fight and Connor V Cerrone. The relative value of their stocks have changed and maybe I would reconsider if Nate deserves the fight right now. Maybe Connor V Masvidal for the BMF-belt would be a better fit now, and maybe if Connor loses, then the trilogy with Nate could be next. That being said, Connor DEFINITELY shouldn’t be considered for a rematch with Khabib yet.

Fighters would think twice then wouldnt they. That knee on the ground, Conor should have had a point taken there and then. You can't punish one fighter and let the next get away with it. Ok I am a huge fan of Khabib's. Conor did quite well better than most of the fighters that Khabib defeated in a compete dominant fashion.
In the third round, Conor did well against Khabib's wrestling and arguably won that round. Khabib hasnt really lost a round in this pro career.
I think a rematch would still sell pretty well.
Yes, I don't like the fact Conor talked about others family and religion. However, Conor is a true fighter. I like the fact he didn't really care about aftermath melee. At the end of the day, no one really got seriously injured and shits sometimes happen cos it's a fight business.

When the second round started he should have been more switched on but after he got caught with that right it completely changed the narrative of the fight which led to the submission. Would definitely be interested in a rematch but I think Conor should fight Ferguson and then the winner of that gets Khabib.

Im 3yrs late but help me explain how that insignificant overhand right “Change the narrative of the fight“. Khabib feinted for a td. Connor reacted and started to move the overhand right connects but doesnt nothing. I know and say this because in previous fights anytime Khabib lands at overhead right he rushes in with a flying knee. Conors but didnt ever actually hit the canvas. Essentially conor drops to one knee & evaded Khabibs knee. Lands one of his own and they keep trading until a few moments later when Khabib gets another td.

Its ridiculous they didnt bring anyone new for wrestling or perhaps even better, someone elite BBJ, f+ck wrestling. Make Conor an elite BJJ mofo and when Khabib does his wrestling bear nonsense Conor should attack on the ground. Make Khabib fear him on the ground like everyone fears Werdum, Maia or Fitch, make BJJ more than wrestling. Or FFS get someone like GSP to train with Conor, nobody, not even THE best wrestlers could take GSP down, Conor needs someone like that. One of the things that really intrigued me in this fight, and I'm no MMA expert or anything, is how Conor didn't maintain his distance that well like he usually does. He's almost always fighting orthodox fighters and coaxes them into throwing the overhand which ultimately misses and he then lands the left hand. In this one however, he abandoned his usual touches with his right hand to gauge distance and got caught by Khabib's overhand which is his signature dodge that culminates into a left hand. Perhaps all that lends credence to the fact that Conor's camp focused mainly on grappling defense for this fight and as a result, in a way, you might say underestimated Khabib's striking or the fact that he might strike whereas Khabib's team seems to have kept this in mind which is why he was able to strike and land the knockdown shot. Just my opinion.
Edit: Perhaps this just proves Kavangh's claim that they focused mostly on defense. It was definitely weird how Conor didn't maintain an arm's length like he usually does with other opponents where he's just out of range for them to think they can land but graze past his chin for him to land the left hand.

    Rematch???
Why the hell would that happen.
They guy just got completely and utterly dominated by a far far superior fighter.
This isnt a Brexit vote remoaner lobby of a 2nd referendum....
Connor got humiliated, got totally owned, got punched to the floor, got thrown like a rag doll and then HIMSELF giving up...sorry, tapping out, as he had no other option.
The top dog is Khab, CM got taken to school, and as such now goes right to the back of the line.
You CANNOT beg for a ‘redemption rematch’ because of all the utter diatribe of smack talk and insults just because it backfired on you.
NOBODY wants to see CM getting that hurt again.
Khab has NOTHING left to prove, he wins.

He had been out for two years and thats why he lost.
3-1 is a dominating performance that included a knock down, thrown on his back as Khab always does (wasnt able to stop that was he) and used his superb groundwork (which the last time i checked is still part of MMA) to control him on the deck, at one stage turning his face into a pancake and then choke him into submission.
      ‘Dominated’
“To control, to rule over, to command”
At no stage did CM look like winning, his left was neutralised and his body kicks barely able to give Khab any cause for thought.
      He dominated him.

And i completely agree, but one round out of 4 is a 25% ratio.
Whether he was rusty or not, he was mauled on the ground, was knocked off his feet and failed to land any telling blows.
And the choke is a perfectly valid and well used tool that CM had no answer for.
      He was dominated.

      Fan boys?
      Are you that easily triggered??
Here are the facts that CM experienced....
      Punched off his feet.
      Pummelled on the floor.
Had a zero ground plan, was dominated there too.
      Tapped out after said domination.
      Lost the fight.
The truth doesnt care whether you agree with it or not.
I think you are either new to this sport or are young, but if you think groundwork is boring then you have dismissed judo and jujitsu.
You have no idea of who the Gracies were either.
Groundwork is one of the most important aspects of MMA in the modern era, how many ko’s come by someone pummelling another while he/she is on the ground?
      Exactly....LOTS.
As someone like myself who watches with a balanced attitude, Khab was his usual self, he neutralised CM biggest weapon, his left, by keeping out of range, balance and movement. CM had no answer to it, why? Because he not only was facing the no.1 fighter in that division but was just coming off of a 2 year lay off.
He got his ass handed to him and made all the pre-fight talk embarrass him.
I dont care what one persons opinion is of the result as the result speaks for itself, no excuses...
One guy was the far superior.
If you ever had doubts over CM making this fight then you should of told him yourself.
He’s a big boy, he made the choice to fight but was given a beaten.
      No excuses needed

This guys is so well-spoken and seems respectful. Makes me think that Conor isn't actually as big of a jerk as he comes across, just an act and he really is just putting on a show to make that $$$. That was a great fight, wish there wasn't as much WWE antics and more of purely skilled fighting.

I hope there is a rematch. Just so that UFC would be what it used to be with fighters earning their fights through rankings. When Conor loses again to Khabib he won't be able to fight for a title for a while until he earns it like every other fighter.

Kavanagh is one of the best coaches in the business, very cool and honorable both in victory and defeat. And he is right that their training camp focused more on defence rather than on offence as evidenced by what went down. That said, an adjustment in their training focus could have the contest more competitive. But I seriously doubt it if the result would be any different. Of course, Conor's ego would ensure an immediate rematch. It will surely be bigger in terms of PPV and live audience. More profit for the UFC. But in that match, he will really be humbled and his face really "smeshed."
