I agree with you. Since the Cambodian organization did not organize the event according to the standards agreed in the contract between the organizations, it is appropriate to cancel the event in Cambodia and return to Thailand.

I was shocked when the MGI news attacked Cambodia by canceling the Miss Grand pageant. But when I saw the state of the event, I felt that I could not accept it. It was really bad. Everything looked low quality. Next year, I want it to be held in the Philippines because I believe that we can do better than Cambodia.
MGI is world renowned beauty pageant. After Indonesia and Vietnam hosted the show, they uplifted the standard of MGI to a high level. Ivan Gunawan and Indonesian team gave diamond necklace to all the contestants as gifts, best treatment, delicious food, world class entertainment, cultural production with 5-stars hotel accommodations. Last year, Vietnam team spent so much money on production while promoting different parts of the country. Fashion show, cultural show, sightseeing, international standard hotels and luxury events. However, Cambodia is an underdeveloped country trying too hard to match with its advanced neighbors, but this year showed they lack in infrastructure, tourism and most importantly basic food. They were serving Japanese food every day, why not promote local food like Thai and Vietnamese did before?
It's not about being underdeveloped, but how will a country prepare for an international event in just 2 months? And with a boss like nawat with ever-changing demands. There was originally no cruise ship event but nawat demanded it after the competition began so what do you expect them to do?
It looked like the event was done by some small local organization, not a national level organization. Most host countries also would had the National Tourism Department involved in the event. It did not look like the case here. Very strange.

A guy from Cambodian team asked all 75contestants and staffs to go to cruise ships port for gala dinner. After arrived the port, there’s no cruise ship waiting there So Mr. Nawat called to the organizer. The Cambodian guy said they are in middle of the swamp. So he asked him to come to the port and pick up all beauty Queens but he did not pick up the phone and ignored his phone called. Later on that night after came back to the hotel, they were big arguments and disrespected manners to Thai’s team. Also a Cambodia’s security guard was harassed and aggressive manner to Thai’s team. So Nawat decided to go back to BKK. It’s not safe to be in that situation at all. Anything bad could be happen! Mr Nawat made the right decision to cancel everything for safety reasons!!!!

He did not put his candidates in that boat and have them eat peanuts and quail eggs that still look like embryos baby quail. We all know that’s not Mgi style. The delicious food video was not on the cheap boat it probably a video from other occasions who knows when..? Nawat would not damaged his pageantry this way. He took them off the boat and found a restaurant for 75 candidates, guess and staff. Because the restaurant had a big order due to last minute issues he had to helped served dinner himself. After all the ordeal next day he and staff was kept in a room not permitted to leave the room. Mgi staff was verbally and physically threatened. He would not set all this up to ruined the girls big moment that’s not how Mgi functions. It didn’t happened in Vietnam , Indonesia and other countries but only in Cambodia. This was an opportunity for Cambodia organizers to bring in tourist to the country so the country can profit, unfortunately it didn’t happen that way.

But they suddenly said that the boat was not usable. It was against the agreement. Professionals don't work like this. And the Minister of Tourism was supposed to be the opening ceremony, but the Minister said that he would not go to the event and would come in the evening. 2. There was not enough food for Miss Grand. It was later discovered that some of the food was given away for free by a Cambodian influencer. 3. As for the boat, it's true that it didn't come to pick up Miss Grand at the scheduled time, but it was parked in the middle of the river. When Mr. Nawat tried to contact her, she didn't answer the phone. Mr. Nawat solved the problem by renting a boat in that area to take Miss Grand to visit the river. 4. When Mr. Nawat asked the Cambodian team, they did not pay attention and let the bodyguards come and threaten Mr. Nawat's team. 5. Hi George, first I thought the venue will be held in Vietnam, it didn’t materialize. Then Myanmar, same thing, it didn’t push through. Now Cambodia is out of the picture so technically MGI will go back to Thailand, the home base of Nawat. Perhaps it’s Nawat’s expectations not being met, he’s a good businessman and knows what’s good for his company.
Cambodia is real wanting to be in the world stage and had just dropped the ball. From Sea games, to many foreign competitors for Cambodia team, upside down flags in ceremony and another beauty pagent where music copy right was used from a Thai university student. At that time the owner was from Vietnam and blamed it on the Cambodian team. Nobody took accountability bit from what I heard the Thai student sued. I think Cambodia has to fix their corruption, tourism and align with international laws to move forward. Just my thoughts, and i could be wrong.
I don’t get it why Cambodia not giving everyone apologies instead of blaming. Cambodia 🇰🇭 has a long way to be professional. This situation proof that they always blaming other but themselves. On a cheap boat with cheap chairs. Nothing to eat but boil peanuts and half cooked quailed eggs with embryo in it. It is normal when they do an agreement. They just inform the requirements, and the host team must consider and show that they can do it, including responsible to make it happen as in pitching. I think a country as Cambodia has the potential to hold this pagaent. It has some good venues, hotels, historical buildings and natural places. And MGI may also see those potentials on Cambodia before they signed an agreement. The problem is about how they prepare and level up the resources in the real situations. Unfortunately,we can really know only when they start to work.

How they picked Cambodia to host last minute so they have like 2 months to prepared all that because other country couldn’t host for some reasons. The guy that is in charge of the MGI also makes changes and last minute requests. Cambodia was never known for having a “luxurious” lifestyle or boat so I don’t why that was expected. We’re known for great hospitality and our great Angkor wat. In the past Nawat has caused many controversy so I’m not surprised by this one.
@@Sminznimi I think it is very easy for MGI to be a host itself in Thailand and it seems that they did it many times in the past. I think there more than 3-4 times that this event arranged in Thailand. So, I don't think that they were desperately picking Cambodia just because it was in a last minute. the agreement has been made by both sides. they should have considered well for contractor and themself. Miss grand used to be hosted by Venezuela during the socioeconomical crisis of Venezuela, but they still made it well. MGI may think the same or even think that it should be easier to be a co-host with Cambodia team as they used to work successfully with Venezuela even during that crisis. Cambodian team should be also considered themself before making an agreement, they have freedom not to be a host if they think they can't do it. and because it was an agreement for Co-host, it means not all responsibility will be on the host country which should be easier for Cambodia team, just follow the commitment on agreement. Cambodian team can work based on the agreement and they can just show the contract (not just verbal) to confirm that this is something outside agreement and they won't be blamed as unprofessional team. If any of Cambodia team wants to take part in a world-class event, it is very important for them to up level their treasure to mix with the world class standard. if you have an agreement to host a luxurious event, how could you say it is not your lifestyle???
I agree with you, but the situation of Miss Grand has made me really admit that Cambodia is really low quality and will have a negative effect on the image of Miss Grand. Next year, I would like to have this event held in the Philippines. I believe that we can do it better than Cambodia.

Im not into any pageant thing at all. But I have experience in the field of organizing events. What I don't understand is that the Cambodian team disputed Nawat's comments about the boat. Said they've arranged a vessel with food already but he chose another vessel. They said it was parked in the middle of the river. Ok.... then why was it parked there? An organization as big as this would have had multiple event run throughs and briefs. I find it hard to believe that MIG would let inconsistencies such as these be allowed to happen. They would be ironed out in the event run through meeting. What time would the boat be at port? What will be served? Which transport will be used? Harbor master permit? Press-area? Embarkation routine? Safety briefing? Security? I mean the list goes on and on. These would have had already been talked about over and over before the big day. I usually have event queues and site coordinators at every point. I.e. From the convention hall to the pier plus transport coordinator. Communications team is one of my key successes. I would have my team reporting the movement of guests departing and arriving at each location. I will make sure that everything is set for the next event queue and ready even before they arrived. In fact, the vessel and food in question should have already been confirmed prepared an hour before the scheduled moment. My site coordinator would have been on the vessel 3 hours before. IF it's parked outside, then this is the time to bring it in to port. This is to allow ample time for a response solution in an emergency situation. My question is, why didn't the Cambodian team do such communication and preparation? Why did they dodge the CEO's calls when the guest arrived at the pier? What good is a food-ready vessel if it's parked in the middle of water where no one can get on there? This still dumbfounded me. If I've made the same similar mistake in my line of work, I will be fired. Is this a classic case of communication error? I don't know. But it seems odd to me that if the Cambodian team have already prepared such vessel, then why on earth was it not communicated to the other team that the vessel is parked out there and we are bringing it into port. Were they even going to do that? Apparently not. Which was why Nawat had to take drastic measures to ensure the event queue is honored. The MGC said that Nawat denied the vessel alltogether and did what he wanted. As in chose that horrible boat. I find this extremely hard to believe. Why? For one, if MGC prepped such vessel, sent him pictures but is parked out there and needs time to bring it into port, do you honestly think that Nawat wouldn't wait? The condition of the two boats are that obvious which would better serve the event. He could have helped the MGC team and easily-remedied the situation. "Ok guys, the boat is parked in the bay and is enroute to port. You guys just hang for a bit! I know you are all hungry, but dinner will be served soon!". That could easily been tied in with photography with press to pass the time. I've done this before. Stretch out moments like this to accommodate for sudden changes and delays. BUT THIS DIDN"T HAPPEN! So the question is why did Nawat decided to act on something instead of waiting? Did MGC had no intention of coordinating with MGI? Why dodge calls at key moments like this? My phone would be glued to me at times like these. Plus my team's radio would be holstered at my waist with an ear piece so I can talk to everyone. "Ian, I need the captain to bring the vessel back to port. I need to know how long get on it! Laura, I need you to herd all the ladies for a photoshoot. Craig, get all the press and start creating a photo op moment. Kevin, I need you to make sure once the boat docks we are ready to board immediately." I do this on a daily basis. So I don't understand why this didn't happen. I have a feeling Nawat has something to share but has kept his mouth shut till the right moment. He needs to come out and do a press conference. Because this really questioned his MIG professionalism reputation. Again, speaking from personal experience, I believe something is odd here.
I just watched his livestream. Mr Nawat basically said the Cambodian team asked to cancel the boat trip 15 minutes prior to him and the pageants reaching the port. The Cambodian team asked if MGI would go to a Japanese restaurant instead. Mr Nawat refused, since the boat trip was part of the schedule. After that MGI reached the port and found no staff to welcome them. Mr Nawat also asked where were they? The Cambodian team said they were in the middle of the river. He then organized a boat that way he stuck to the agreed upon schedule. (Also important to note is that when they were on route to the port, after the Cambodian team said they were in the middle of the river, the Thai team could not communicate to them because they did not answer their phones despite having signal )

Changing the plan last minute has to have a valid reason but this didn’t sound like it was. WHY WAS THAT TEAM ON THE BOAT IN THE MIDDLE OF THR RIVER AND NOT AT THE PORT????? That was the first thing that jumped to me. My site coordinator should be there ready to welcome the arriving party. What on earth were they thinking? @@CoffeBuzI think in the opening event/day there was supposed to be a tourist minister but he wasn’t there. There was also a traditional Cambodian dance supposed to start at 16:00 but the dancers came 15:50, not dressed and demanding an hour to prepare. So Mr Nawat scrapped the dance. The stage to welcome the pageants was also not ready so the Thai team had to get involved in setting up the stage. After all that according to Mr Nawat himself and the Cambodian team agreed to have at least hundreds of people in the hall but there was at least 20.
@@jackcorvo5097 this seems very unprofessional. Often these type of things are stipulated by contract and legal. If one party is not able to fulfill the requirement, that's just asking for it. Yes, there are except clauses. Like disasters, weather, riots etc. But if it was that serious, everyone would understand that it was a life and death situation. From hearing what you've said and the arguments posed by MGC, Im drawing my conclusions to the fact that the MGC organizer is incompetent. Im in the same industry of event organizer, and there are many things that stuck out to me as unprofessional. I personally take VIP arrangements as serious as they come. Because it involves security and legal which has its own way of dealing with things. Often at times if it's a high ranking officer, the office of that department or ministry has to be brought into the loop of communication. Arrival time and security preparation has to happen before hand. Their speech drafted by our team and sent to their's so that they can approve and edit the speech and confirm it with us. Then we will have the speech ready once he arrives. They (VIP office) will tell us what is required. But if you've done this for many gigs you'd have a knowledge and experience how to deal with this type of arrangements. So you may go ahead and arrange and by the time the VIP coordinator reached you, everything has already been planned and they are satisfied. Yes it is always delayed. But you knew that it will always be delayed and you make sure that you accommodate it. Im just wondering, did MGC even contacted the minister to invite him? Was his office was even aware that he was supposed to attend? Just seems odd. The dancers and time to rehearsal, that's just pure disrespect to schedule and punctuality. It's like my dog ate my home work situation. In many ways, this seems like Fyre Festival. This whole thing really came down to poor organization and extremely inexperienced team. They should have hired me as event coordinator. HAHAHA
@@CoffeBuz Mr nawat also said that it was very difficult to find someone responsible or able to take charge, leading to massive communication problems. There was a small team of Cambodian volunteers that went along with Mr Nawat to the Port, and when he asked him about the the missing boat their reply was “I don’t know”, “depends on the boss.” It seems that the volunteers were more interested in taking photos and selfies (They were also young and didn’t have experience nor helped in any way whatsoever). The problems also included harassment. Mr Nawat explained in his livestream that when the pageants came to get food in the dining area there were MGC staff waiting for them and basically filmed them, asking the pageants how well they were being taken care of.
I blame both sides, why didn't Nawat MGI have staff there to check quality and approve location beforehand. MGI should've checked that the Cambodian Host was ready and up to standards before letting the contestants travel there.
For what reason when the organizer is an adult and made all agreements in advanced. Mgi didn’t have problem with Vietnam , Indonesia and other countries. His staff has enough on their hands to accommodate more than hundreds of guess and made sure all candidates had a safe trip getting to Thailand first .

This is a premeditated attack on Cambodia by MGI Thai owners. Cambodian host had already prepared a big yacht with 5-star meals onboard (as shown in video proofs), but as the heavy rain poured down that moment, the Cambodian host asked everyone not to board the yacht just yet, for their own safety measure, but this Nawat Thai guy, the owner of MGI, instructed his staff to rent a small ferry and bought foods off the streets, and proceeded to instruct the pegants to board that small ferry he rented himself. Then MGI staff along with Miss Grand Thai proceeded to record insulting videos of them eating peanuts and baluts bought by MGI staff. MGI staged all these dramas themselves while Cambodian host waits for them to board the yacht that had been prepared as agreed. Goes to show that these Thai MGI owners have premeditated intent to insult and/or scam Cambodian host. This is unprecedented because they staged everything, recorded it themselves and supposedly they had already booked the flights to Bangkok for everyone the same night, which is unusual because flights from PHN-BKK are mostly full unless the tickets had been booked days earlier. Cambodian host is in the process of filing legal lawsuits and possibly a complaint will be sent to Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh as well. There could be a list of "persona non grata" to be submitted to Cambodian immigration banning entry to a list of Thai bad perpetrators/scammers for inciting national-level hatred with the intent to defame Cambodia.
If you actually listen to the news you would know that Cambodia team is late and being late in this kind of show is what we called incompetent. Have you ever wonder why other country don't have these kind of problem? It is not about Thai try to scam Cambodian host, It's about being professional in a job where everything must be perfect. Everyone can said that they are the victim but in the end if you're late then it's really your fault. @@AC-ut3nk I agree with you on this. This is not about National scrutiny. It's about professionalism with events organization work. In this line of job, problems will arise. There's no question about it. It's about how well can you handle the changes. I have to deal with rain, harbor boarding and disembarkation (plus guests drinking bubbles before boarding too BTW) and press. At any given turn, something is going to happen, but if you have a good communication framework set up, many things can be resolved. I believe there weren't proper communication set up in place. Rain is an obstacle, but not a deal breaker. WE have teams wiping the decks clearing chairs etc all the time. Could be ready in 10-15min. Plus, if I know there is going to be rain with an event scheduled, I would prepare in advance for such situations. If safety is a major concern and I can't assure my clients of their safety when say, taking the vessel out of port in a storm for example. I would outright say so that I can't and I won't. The client will understand, because it is about people's lives. But I dont think this is the case either because there were other boats going out on a cruise. So it really comes down to organization.

Nawat had to spent another million Baht to get the girls, his team and the press out of Cambodia. He had to reorganise everything and booked last minute accommodation and activities for the girls. These took time and effort. The evidence is enough in it that something was unbearable had happened; especially, with the safety and security. If everything was agreed and written in the contract and the Cambodian organiser hadn’t been able to deliver, then they are the ones who breached the contract. Nawat can actually sue them, too if he wants.
George, There is always another side to the story. The dinner was scheduled to be at a grand hotel but Mr. Nawat suddenly wanted it to be on a ship instead and immediately, with no discussion beforehand even though it was rainy and flooding season. So, K team prepared a standard ship but for some reason Mr. Nawat chose another boat on his own.
The whole cruise dining event was a total mess. They had a clear agreement that it was mandatory, but the Cambodian authorities dropped the ball. The cruise was stuck in the river because they hadn’t paid for docking, and it just kept getting delayed. With no one from the host team stepping up, a 20-year-old had to scramble to hire a random tourist boat to get the pageants on board. To make matters worse, Mr. Nawat didn’t even know about the new boat and ended up missing the event entirely. And it didn’t stop there-there was no Cambodian tourism minister as an honored guest, the guest list was all wrong, and the props were a joke. They had an old, ripped red carpet with no backdrop at all. This whole unprofessional situation made everyone feel insecure, so it totally made sense for the team and pageants to just bail and head back to Thailand.
Only shows that both parties do not know each others work and professional capabilitites. Moreso, if they had communicated well this will not happen. Cambodia must make an official statement with this so with Nawat. Just pulling it out to the Host country without giving a formal explanation is disrespectful, so many rumours are going around which is unfair for both parties
They were threaten before making a decision to leave. There were a lot of conflicts between the countries when Combodian people were manipulated into anger through patriotism, leading to riots and becoming a treat to the Thai staffs. This is happening again when Cambodian people are manipulated to think this is an issue between the countires.

Oh, how convenience was that, when the plan didn't go well, just boarded all of the contestants in the plane and flew them over to Thailand without any advance preparation? Don't you think that is a little suspicious? Cambodia prepared to have the contestants board in a ship that they prepared for Miss Grand International. Instead, it was Mr. Nawat who disrespected the Cambodian's Miss. Grand International organization and had the contestants boarded in the unprepared ship! Did you know that? The planned was to have the contestants board the ship at 7pm. A-Navat brought everyone there at 6pm. After he was told that the ship was in the way, he went out of his way to go rent a nearby tourist ship that wasn’t prepared for the contestants. He ordered the peanut and quilll eggs for the contestants to eat himself and then blamed the Cambodian’s people for his actions!! Prior to this i incident, he and the contestants were sleeping and eating at 5 stars hotel. Did you know that? He said that Cambodian’s staff were unprofessional. For him to get back to Thailand and got in front of the press mocking and laughing at the Cambodians made him so professional to you and your people!! Now after Cambodia press conference it’s been investigated that so many untrue stories being told. Its been investigated that there were no invite to tourist of ministry of Cambodia to Mgi or to acknowledge Mgi like the organizers claimed. Nawat really want to give opportunity to Cambodia to show the beauty and uniqueness of Cambodia for tourism for the preliminary and finals and the country will be known worldwide for future tourist destinations Actually, he want to promote all of asean countries. Now, of all the false accusations pointing fingers at others even to miss grand Thailand Milin accusing her of setting up crying events at the airport is absolute lying . I’m Malay and can understand Thai language and I saw on video what she said at the airport and she cried and talked about how hard her Thai team have worked in getting the paperwork, passports of all candidates 75 of them cleared because not all can fully understand or read English well. She commended how hard they worked pressure for time to get back to Thailand and they having to helped with all the girls luggage’s to loading in vans on way to take a flight to bkk .. and commend her boss for looking after all of the candidates and accommodating them to helping the server served food to the girls at the restaurant etc.. and she got emotional for just that and didn’t talked about the Cambodian organizers names. Also at the airport she was worried about one of staff member if he got home ok and later found that he have arrived because she knew he been working very hard and under a lot of stress in Cambodia and she cried with happy tears because her people welcomed her home. So I listened to Cambodian press conference making false statements about her to be unprofessional and absolutely garbage. I even saw on social media people going into her IG and trashing her about being drama and about not knowing how to eat the eggs. In actuality in one of the videos she talked about being in the boat and said “ We have this quail eggs at home and some people like to eat it but the candidates around the world don’t eat it because they are not familiar with this type of food”.. . but saw a video clip of one of the organizer accused Milin Miss grand Thailand of not knowing what the egg is and insinuating that Milin was looking down on Cambodian food, which is untrue because like she said “ we have this in our home country as well etc..”… From so many untrue statements now I don’t think there were any luxury boat with foods set up because if there were they would pick up his phone calls and send the real luxury boat with foods since they were in a cheap boat with no real food waiting in stationary waiting from 5 pm till around 8 or 9 pm…. probably waiting to switch to luxury boat Nawat finally realized the girls and staff was hungry and took all of them to a restaurant himself since he could not get in touch with the organizers. In conclusion listening to both side of press conferences and now so many evidences that the organizers were not truthful I know there were no Luxury boat like many things that were agreed upon 2 months in advance did not materialized. I feel sorry that Cambodia did not have a good organizer like Indonesia, Vietnam and other countries because if they did the filming would still be taking place in Cambodia and not in Thailand. I have to say he is a talented businessman and eventhou have to moved the show back to Thailand the world continues to view the grand show he is famous for. His ability to set up a show in Thailand right away and in last minute to saved his pageantry for the world to view daily is amazing and grand as usual. One thing about Nawat he is a planner and a perfectionist and that is why his show remained successful because he goes above and beyond for the viewers and treats all candidates like queens with grand scale. I don’t know why the Cambodian organizers lied the only thing I can think of is to saved face, and because if her people know the truth they would be upset at her. I think she would probably try to manipulate the situation and not have any capable qualified organizers to represent Mgi in the future for Cambodia because if they succeed she would look like a failure and a big flop. But in reality her selfishness would just affect her country inability to attract tourist and limit the opportunity for her people to make future income from tourism. but like I say she would stop anyone from trying to be better than her and would prevent very capable qualified smart Cambodian organizer afraid they would do a better job than her.

Here is the true story as I could understand. First, Cambodia team has prepared the nice boat with full of food for the contestants, but then it was raining so they had to take the food back inside or it would get wet. When the rain stopped, Miss Nawat immediately arrived and got angry because the boat was not yet prepared, but then the organizers need only few minutes to prepare the boat - but Miss Nawat didn’t wait and rent a new boat by her own. That new boat has no food and looks dirty but she doesn’t care. That’s her problem. And now they created this drama. So ridiculous ! Such a cheap & fake pageantry.

Nawat is a known Diva. He had organizers on toes with last-minute demands, and he also needs to take NO with chin up sometimes and leave it on organizers. It's rainy and flood season in South asia and nawat demanded boat rides for gals, like seriously. Also Cambodia isn't Thailand, it takes times to arrange things, Thailand is a touristy country ofc it's easy to find cruise boats that are cheap too.

Miss Grand has been held for more than 10 times, and it seems Nawat always tries to make it level up on the leading pagaent. It doesn't make any sense for me. And if you say it was about rain, monsoon. The host must have known and been aware of this. Why do they still prepare the boat that can't even protect the food from rain? Why don't they prepare a plan B? That was I think it is unprofessional of Cambodia team.

The issue was not about safety but rather a miscommunication, as the Cambodian team had prepared everything in advance for Miss Grand International’s arrival, but Mr. Nawat from Thailand made sudden changes, causing difficulties for the Cambodian organizers to find a replacement boat on such short notice, which led to unnecessary drama involving both Mr. Nawat and Miss Grand Thailand. Furthermore, your actions show a lack of respect towards the country and demonstrate rude behavior towards the Cambodian team, especially Miss Grand Cambodia. It’s evident that they have been bullying Miss Grand Cambodia and the Cambodian team, showing no respect for their efforts and disregarding basic human decency.
Show some evidences. I saw only the video of food prepared at a river-side restuarant, but claming to be on the boat. Where is at least a video of an event that meet international standard. I see none. That's why the standard is not met.

Nawat stages all the problems to abruptly canceled the event. The cruise is Nawat's idea to suddenly forcing the Cambodian team to do for him or he will go back to Thailand. He pick the boat the foods then posted online. The boat the team prepared for he did not go on because it was not completely ready due to rain and he brought the queens 2 hours earlier.
To my knowledge, NAWAT was not happy with their arrangements! I even saw Nawat's story yesterday where he used the word unprofessional without exactly explaining who he was referring to!!

Cambodia's team posted the finished products, they were right on time actually, and Nawat missed the chance to see that because he already made a bad choice, he demanded a dinner cruise at the last minute which it wasn't even in the original schedule and when it was prepared and done, he still chose to go to another boat, which wasn't prepared by Cambodia's team. Cambodia had no say in this, they had no power to control that, Nawat chose a cheaper and unprepared boat and that's on him, he can't call Cambodia unprofessional or low standard simply because of his entitlement.

He chose an old rusty boat for the Pageant queens to go on and then try to make Cambodia look "unprofessional". I admit that it's insulting and offensive to Cambodia. I felt sympathy for them. I'm not Cambodian, but my sons are half-Cambodian, and one day, I’d like to take them to visit their country of origin. However, it's true that if I had to choose between the two countries to host, I would prefer Thailand. What I find unfortunate is the reaction of the Cambodians. Cambodia hosted many world-class events successfully lately, namely SEA Games and Gumball 3000 (better than some other country did). As a Cambodian, I must say MGI 2024 chose a wrong organizer (unprofessional) at wrong time (Pchum Ben (you can google it) and rainy season).

I was shocked when the MGI news attacked Cambodia by canceling the Miss Grand pageant. But when I saw the state of the event, I felt that I could not accept it. It was really bad. Everything looked low quality. Next year, I want it to be held in the Philippines because I believe that we can do better than Cambodia.

MGI is world renowned beauty pageant. After Indonesia and Vietnam hosted the show, they uplifted the standard of MGI to a high level. Ivan Gunawan and Indonesian team gave diamond necklace to all the contestants as gifts, best treatment, delicious food, world class entertainment, cultural production with 5-stars hotel accommodations. Last year, Vietnam team spent so much money on production while promoting different parts of the country. Fashion show, cultural show, sightseeing, international standard hotels and luxury events. However, Cambodia is an underdeveloped country trying too hard to match with its advanced neighbors, but this year showed they lack in infrastructure, tourism and most importantly basic food. They were serving Japanese food every day, why not promote local food like Thai and Vietnamese did before?

A guy from Cambodian team asked all 75contestants and staffs to go to cruise ships port for gala dinner. After arrived the port, there’s no cruise ship waiting there So Mr. Nawat called to the organizer. The Cambodian guy said they are in middle of the swamp. So he asked him to come to the port and pick up all beauty Queens but he did not pick up the phone and ignored his phone called. Later on that night after came back to the hotel, they were big arguments and disrespected manners to Thai’s team. Also a Cambodia’s security guard was harassed and aggressive manner to Thai’s team. So Nawat decided to go back to BKK. It’s not safe to be in that situation at all. Anything bad could be happen! Mr Nawat made the right decision to cancel everything for safety reasons!!!!

He did not put his candidates in that boat and have them eat peanuts and quail eggs that still look like embryos baby quail. We all know that’s not Mgi style. The delicious food video was not on the cheap boat it probably a video from other occasions who knows when..? Nawat would not damaged his pageantry this way. He took them off the boat and found a restaurant for 75 candidates, guess and staff. Because the restaurant had a big order due to last minute issues he had to helped served dinner himself. After all the ordeal next day he and staff was kept in a room not permitted to leave the room. Mgi staff was verbally and physically threatened. He would not set all this up to ruined the girls big moment that’s not how Mgi functions. It didn’t happened in Vietnam , Indonesia and other countries but only in Cambodia. This was an opportunity for Cambodia organizers to bring in tourist to the country so the country can profit, unfortunately it didn’t happen that way.

1. According to the contract, there should be a red carpet for Miss Grands to walk, but there was none. And the Minister of Tourism was supposed to be the opening ceremony, but the Minister said that he would not go to the event and would come in the evening.
2. There was not enough food for Miss Grand. It was later discovered that some of the food was given away for free by a Cambodian influencer.
3. As for the boat, it's true that it didn't come to pick up Miss Grand at the scheduled time, but it was parked in the middle of the river. Hi George, first I thought the venue will be held in Vietnam, it didn’t materialize. Then Myanmar, same thing, it didn’t push through. Now Cambodia is out of the picture so technically MGI will go back to Thailand, the home base of Nawat. Perhaps it’s Nawat’s expectations not being met, he’s a good businessman and knows what’s good for his company.

Cambodia is real wanting to be in the world stage and had just dropped the ball. From Sea games, to many foreign competitors for Cambodia team, upside down flags in ceremony and another beauty pagent where music copy right was used from a Thai university student. At that time the owner was from Vietnam and blamed it on the Cambodian team. Nobody took accountability bit from what I heard the Thai student sued.
I think Cambodia has to fix their corruption, tourism and align with international laws to move forward. Just my thoughts, and i could be wrong.

It is normal when they do an agreement. They just inform the requirements, and the host team must consider and show that they can do it, including responsible to make it happen as in pitching.
I think a country as Cambodia has the potential to hold this pagaent. It has some good venues, hotels, historical buildings and natural places. And MGI may also see those potentials on Cambodia before they signed an agreement.
The problem is about how they prepare and level up the resources in the real situations. Unfortunately,we can really know only when they start to work.

How they picked Cambodia to host last minute so they have like 2 months to prepared all that because other country couldn’t host for some reasons. The guy that is in charge of the MGI also makes changes and last minute requests. Cambodia was never known for having a “luxurious” lifestyle or boat so I don’t why that was expected. We’re known for great hospitality and our great Angkor wat. In the past Nawat has caused many controversy so I’m not surprised by this one.

I think there more than 3-4 times that this event arranged in Thailand. So, I don't think that they were desperately picking Cambodia just because it was in a last minute.
the agreement has been made by both sides. they should have considered well for contractor and themself. Miss grand used to be hosted by Venezuela during the socioeconomical crisis of Venezuela, but they still made it well. MGI may think the same or even think that it should be easier to be a co-host with Cambodia team as they used to work successfully with Venezuela even during that crisis. Cambodian team should be also considered themself before making an agreement, they have freedom not to be a host if they think they can't do it. and because it was an agreement for Co-host, it means not all responsibility will be on the host country which should be easier for Cambodia team, just follow the commitment on agreement. Cambodian team can work based on the agreement and they can just show the contract (not just verbal) to confirm that this is something outside agreement and they won't be blamed as unprofessional team.

Im not into any pageant thing at all. But I have experience in the field of organizing events. What I don't understand is that the Cambodian team disputed Nawat's comments about the boat. Said they've arranged a vessel with food already but he chose another vessel. They said it was parked in the middle of the river. Ok.... then why was it parked there? An organization as big as this would have had multiple event run throughs and briefs. I find it hard to believe that MIG would let inconsistencies such as these be allowed to happen. They would be ironed out in the event run through meeting. What time would the boat be at port? What will be served? Which transport will be used? Harbor master permit? Press-area? Embarkation routine? Safety briefing? Security? I mean the list goes on and on. These would have had already been talked about over and over before the big day.
I usually have event queues and site coordinators at every point. I.e. From the convention hall to the pier plus transport coordinator. Communications team is one of my key successes. I would have my team reporting the movement of guests departing and arriving at each location. I will make sure that everything is set for the next event queue and ready even before they arrived. In fact, the vessel and food in question should have already been confirmed prepared an hour before the scheduled moment. My site coordinator would have been on the vessel 3 hours before. IF it's parked outside, then this is the time to bring it in to port. This is to allow ample time for a response solution in an emergency situation. My question is, why didn't the Cambodian team do such communication and preparation? Why did they dodge the CEO's calls when the guest arrived at the pier? What good is a food-ready vessel if it's parked in the middle of water where no one can get on there? This still dumbfounded me. If I've made the same similar mistake in my line of work, I will be fired. Is this a classic case of communication error? I don't know. But it seems odd to me that if the Cambodian team have already prepared such vessel, then why on earth was it not communicated to the other team that the vessel is parked out there and we are bringing it into port. Were they even going to do that? Apparently not. Which was why Nawat had to take drastic measures to ensure the event queue is honored. The MGC said that Nawat denied the vessel alltogether and did what he wanted. As in chose that horrible boat. I find this extremely hard to believe. Why? For one, if MGC prepped such vessel, sent him pictures but is parked out there and needs time to bring it into port, do you honestly think that Nawat wouldn't wait? The condition of the two boats are that obvious which would better serve the event. He could have helped the MGC team and easily-remedied the situation. "Ok guys, the boat is parked in the bay and is enroute to port. You guys just hang for a bit! I know you are all hungry, but dinner will be served soon!". That could easily been tied in with photography with press to pass the time. I've done this before. Stretch out moments like this to accommodate for sudden changes and delays.
BUT THIS DIDN"T HAPPEN! So the question is why did Nawat decided to act on something instead of waiting? Did MGC had no intention of coordinating with MGI? Why dodge calls at key moments like this? My phone would be glued to me at times like these. Plus my team's radio would be holstered at my waist with an ear piece so I can talk to everyone. "Ian, I need the captain to bring the vessel back to port. I need to know how long get on it! Laura, I need you to herd all the ladies for a photoshoot. Craig, get all the press and start creating a photo op moment. Kevin, I need you to make sure once the boat docks we are ready to board immediately." I do this on a daily basis. So I don't understand why this didn't happen.
I have a feeling Nawat has something to share but has kept his mouth shut till the right moment. He needs to come out and do a press conference. Because this really questioned his MIG professionalism reputation. Again, speaking from personal experience, I believe something is odd here.
I just watched his livestream. Mr Nawat basically said the Cambodian team asked to cancel the boat trip 15 minutes prior to him and the pageants reaching the port. The Cambodian team asked if MGI would go to a Japanese restaurant instead. Mr Nawat refused, since the boat trip was part of the schedule. After that MGI reached the port and found no staff to welcome them. Mr Nawat also asked where were they? The Cambodian team said they were in the middle of the river. He then organized a boat that way he stuck to the agreed upon schedule. (Also important to note is that when they were on route to the port, after the Cambodian team said they were in the middle of the river, the Thai team could not communicate to them because they did not answer their phones despite having signal )

There was also a traditional Cambodian dance supposed to start at 16:00 but the dancers came 15:50, not dressed and demanding an hour to prepare. So Mr Nawat scrapped the dance. Yes, there are except clauses. Like disasters, weather, riots etc. But if it was that serious, everyone would understand that it was a life and death situation. From hearing what you've said and the arguments posed by MGC, Im drawing my conclusions to the fact that the MGC organizer is incompetent. Im in the same industry of event organizer, and there are many things that stuck out to me as unprofessional. I personally take VIP arrangements as serious as they come. Because it involves security and legal which has its own way of dealing with things. Often at times if it's a high ranking officer, the office of that department or ministry has to be brought into the loop of communication. Arrival time and security preparation has to happen before hand. Their speech drafted by our team and sent to their's so that they can approve and edit the speech and confirm it with us. Then we will have the speech ready once he arrives. They (VIP office) will tell us what is required. But if you've done this for many gigs you'd have a knowledge and experience how to deal with this type of arrangements. So you may go ahead and arrange and by the time the VIP coordinator reached you, everything has already been planned and they are satisfied. Yes it is always delayed. But you knew that it will always be delayed and you make sure that you accommodate it. Im just wondering, did MGC even contacted the minister to invite him? Was his office was even aware that he was supposed to attend? Just seems odd. The dancers and time to rehearsal, that's just pure disrespect to schedule and punctuality. It's like my dog ate my home work situation. In many ways, this seems like Fyre Festival.
This whole thing really came down to poor organization and extremely inexperienced team. They should have hired me as event coordinator. HAHAHA
@@CoffeBuz Mr nawat also said that it was very difficult to find someone responsible or able to take charge, leading to massive communication problems. There was a small team of Cambodian volunteers that went along with Mr Nawat to the Port, and when he asked him about the the missing boat their reply was “I don’t know”, “depends on the boss.” It seems that the volunteers were more interested in taking photos and selfies (They were also young and didn’t have experience nor helped in any way whatsoever).
The problems also included harassment. Mr Nawat explained in his livestream that when the pageants came to get food in the dining area there were MGC staff waiting for them and basically filmed them, asking the pageants how well they were being taken care of.
I blame both sides, why didn't Nawat MGI have staff there to check quality and approve location beforehand. MGI should've checked that the Cambodian Host was ready and up to standards before letting the contestants travel there.
Cambodia is not ready to hold a big event. Poor beggars.

This is a premeditated attack on Cambodia by MGI Thai owners. Cambodian host had already prepared a big yacht with 5-star meals onboard (as shown in video proofs), but as the heavy rain poured down that moment, the Cambodian host asked everyone not to board the yacht just yet, for their own safety measure, but this Nawat Thai guy, the owner of MGI, instructed his staff to rent a small ferry and bought foods off the streets, and proceeded to instruct the pegants to board that small ferry he rented himself. Then MGI staff along with Miss Grand Thai proceeded to record insulting videos of them eating peanuts and baluts bought by MGI staff. MGI staged all these dramas themselves while Cambodian host waits for them to board the yacht that had been prepared as agreed.
Goes to show that these Thai MGI owners have premeditated intent to insult and/or scam Cambodian host. This is unprecedented because they staged everything, recorded it themselves and supposedly they had already booked the flights to Bangkok for everyone the same night, which is unusual because flights from PHN-BKK are mostly full unless the tickets had been booked days earlier.
Cambodian host is in the process of filing legal lawsuits and possibly a complaint will be sent to Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh as well. There could be a list of "persona non grata" to be submitted to Cambodian immigration banning entry to a list of Thai bad perpetrators/scammers for inciting national-level hatred with the intent to defame Cambodia.

There's no question about it. It's about how well can you handle the changes. I have to deal with rain, harbor boarding and disembarkation (plus guests drinking bubbles before boarding too BTW) and press. At any given turn, something is going to happen, but if you have a good communication framework set up, many things can be resolved. I believe there weren't proper communication set up in place. Rain is an obstacle, but not a deal breaker. WE have teams wiping the decks clearing chairs etc all the time. Could be ready in 10-15min. Plus, if I know there is going to be rain with an event scheduled, I would prepare in advance for such situations. If safety is a major concern and I can't assure my clients of their safety when say, taking the vessel out of port in a storm for example. I would outright say so that I can't and I won't. The client will understand, because it is about people's lives. But I dont think this is the case either because there were other boats going out on a cruise. So it really comes down to organization.

The dinner was scheduled to be at a grand hotel but Mr. Nawat suddenly wanted it to be on a ship instead and immediately, with no discussion beforehand even though it was rainy and flooding season.
So, K team prepared a standard ship but for some reason Mr. Nawat chose another boat on his own.
The whole cruise dining event was a total mess. They had a clear agreement that it was mandatory, but the Cambodian authorities dropped the ball. The cruise was stuck in the river because they hadn’t paid for docking, and it just kept getting delayed.
With no one from the host team stepping up, a 20-year-old had to scramble to hire a random tourist boat to get the pageants on board. To make matters worse, Mr. Nawat didn’t even know about the new boat and ended up missing the event entirely.
And it didn’t stop there-there was no Cambodian tourism minister as an honored guest, the guest list was all wrong, and the props were a joke. They had an old, ripped red carpet with no backdrop at all. This whole unprofessional situation made everyone feel insecure, so it totally made sense for the team and pageants to just bail and head back to Thailand.

They were threaten before making a decision to leave. There were a lot of conflicts between the countries when Combodian people were manipulated into anger through patriotism, leading to riots and becoming a treat to the Thai staffs. Also at the airport she was worried about one of staff member if he got home ok and later found that he have arrived because she knew he been working very hard and under a lot of stress in Cambodia and she cried with happy tears because her people welcomed her home. So I listened to Cambodian press conference making false statements about her to be unprofessional and absolutely garbage. I even saw on social media people going into her IG and trashing her about being drama and about not knowing how to eat the eggs. In actuality in one of the videos she talked about being in the boat and said “ We have this quail eggs at home and some people like to eat it but the candidates around the world don’t eat it because they are not familiar with this type of food”.. . but saw a video clip of one of the organizer accused Milin Miss grand Thailand of not knowing what the egg is and insinuating that Milin was looking down on Cambodian food, which is untrue because like she said “ we have this in our home country as well etc..”… From so many untrue statements now I don’t think there were any luxury boat with foods set up because if there were they would pick up his phone calls and send the real luxury boat with foods since they were in a cheap boat with no real food waiting in stationary waiting from 5 pm till around 8 or 9 pm…. probably waiting to switch to luxury boat Nawat finally realized the girls and staff was hungry and took all of them to a restaurant himself since he could not get in touch with the organizers. In conclusion listening to both side of press conferences and now so many evidences that the organizers were not truthful I know there were no Luxury boat like many things that were agreed upon 2 months in advance did not materialized. I feel sorry that Cambodia did not have a good organizer like Indonesia, Vietnam and other countries because if they did the filming would still be taking place in Cambodia and not in Thailand. Here is the true story as I could understand. First, Cambodia team has prepared the nice boat with full of food for the contestants, but then it was raining so they had to take the food back inside or it would get wet. When the rain stopped, Miss Nawat immediately arrived and got angry because the boat was not yet prepared, but then the organizers need only few minutes to prepare the boat - but Miss Nawat didn’t wait and rent a new boat by her own. That new boat has no food and looks dirty but she doesn’t care. That’s her problem. And now they created this drama. So ridiculous ! Such a cheap & fake pageantry.

Nawat is a known Diva. He had organizers on toes with last-minute demands, and he also needs to take NO with chin up sometimes and leave it on organizers. @grf123 What's the evidence? I don't think it is understandable for Nawat to try to downgrade his pagaent. Miss Grand has been held for more than 10 times, and it seems Nawat always tries to make it level up on the leading pagaent. It doesn't make any sense for me.
And if you say it was about rain, monsoon. The host must have known and been aware of this. Why do they still prepare the boat that can't even protect the food from rain? Why don't they prepare a plan B? That was I think it is unprofessional of Cambodia team.

Nawat stages all the problems to abruptly canceled the event. The cruise is Nawat's idea to suddenly forcing the Cambodian team to do for him or he will go back to Thailand. He pick the boat the foods then posted online. The boat the team prepared for he did not go on because it was not completely ready due to rain and he brought the queens 2 hours earlier.

She doesn’t respect the conversation schedule and changes activities without prior discussion. Be a boss if there is anything wrong, we need to discuss or explain, not to be dramatic in story for attention like kid. and she knows ✅
This is what happened to our Cambodian Team:
1. Rudeness (pull employees out - push them down).
2. Disrespect the conversation schedule.
3. Change activities without prior discussion.
4. Using inappropriate language in groups.
5. Expel the Khmer team by not allowing them to eat.
6. Immediate task correction; Immediate change required.
7. The Thai team followed the leader’s instructions but did not follow the plan.
8. Lack of tolerance for minor mistakes.
9. Some tasks have to be canceled even though Cambodia is well prepared
10. The Thai team did not fully join the Cambodian team in its work.
11. The Thai team despises the Khmer team, Khmer team were not allowed to take videos eventhough Thai team can.
I do not want war but i just don't want so many people to misunderstood the situation.

If you want evident you can check and search them up yourself or the truth will eventually comes out. It is indeed the Cambodia fault if they did not meet the requirement but I just find it funny how such a big scale event that have done this for so many years, did not check first before sending all the Ms to Cambodia but instead did a live stream insulting the situation and crying when they arrive back to Thailand instead. Cambodia's team posted the finished products, they were right on time actually, and Nawat missed the chance to see that because he already made a bad choice, he demanded a dinner cruise at the last minute which it wasn't even in the original schedule and when it was prepared and done, he still chose to go to another boat, which wasn't prepared by Cambodia's team. Cambodia had no say in this, they had no power to control that, Nawat chose a cheaper and unprepared boat and that's on him, he can't call Cambodia unprofessional or low standard simply because of his entitlement.

Actually. Cambodia fully prepared the Boat for all the pageant queens but then this old man name P. nawat change the plan on the last minute and switch boats. He chose an old rusty boat for the Pageant queens to go on and then try to make Cambodia look "unprofessional". We were fully qualified as host but this one neighboring Country always envy and have bad intentions towards Cambodia.

It's more luxurious and it has buffets and everything. The Cambodian Team worked hard. Miss grand Cambodia name "Leakna In" have tried resolving this problem and tried contacting to P. Nawat but he was being unreasonable. You need to do more search instead of Pointing fingers at others and accusing us of being "unprofessional".
I admit that it's insulting and offensive to Cambodia. I felt sympathy for them. I'm not Cambodian, but my sons are half-Cambodian, and one day, I’d like to take them to visit their country of origin. However, it's true that if I had to choose between the two countries to host, I would prefer Thailand. What I find unfortunate is the reaction of the Cambodians. Cambodia hosted many world-class events successfully lately, namely SEA Games and Gumball 3000 (better than some other country did). As a Cambodian, I must say MGI 2024 chose a wrong organizer (unprofessional) at wrong time (Pchum Ben (you can google it) and rainy season).
This is why a couple of ladies dropped out. Were neighboring countries damn near the same shit without the hustle bustlez Drama Queen. Wouldn’t it be more professional to be discreet instead of blasting a country? Shame. God will shine the light on the TRUTH.
