Thanks for the video! This is what’s wrong with my Accord. Can’t wait to replace it
Glad I could help!
I've been meaning to make the replacement video, but at time I recorded the replacement, I didn't think much about it so I don't have the best video clips. I like to make the video as detailed as possible, otherwise people complain, because everyone on UA-cam is entitled nowadays.
I had a few difficulties replacing it that other videos don't show
@@Striker50_ Hey I have a honest question I can’t find it anywhere online is there a actual supercharger made for the 2015 Honda Accord EX-L v6 3.5L or no they haven’t made it yet I see some superchargers were made for the earlier EX-L accords like the 6th to 8th generations but not the 9th gen I need help?
@@617Sage Lol damnnn I am not qualified in any way to answer that question 🤣 that would be a fast Accord though geez
Thank you for making this video!
Glad I could help!
I'm still in the process of making the repair video since I need someone to help me record
Thank you for the explanation, I’ve been trying to diagnose the problem for weeks
Downside: You won't have a supercharger anymore 💔
Thank you my friend can I just change the pulley only or I need completely
@@mohamedgaras9259 Changing the pulley should get rid of the noise 🙏
There is a chance it can be one of the other pulleys but this is the most common one that fails
Thank you sir when I hear the noise it is 100% like your noise so iwill take my chance and change pulley only your good man God bless you I dont know still guy people out left in this world iam from Africa life is tough in North America cold kids language you can imagine my friend so I try to fix things with help from you tube people like you
@@mohamedgaras9259 Thank you my friend, I'm here to help 👍
Great video !!!
Thanks!!
I've been pondering making a replacement video but I already replaced it and didn't take the best video clips at the time! So I don't want to make a Vid that is mediocre
this video really helped
Glad it helped! I wanted to make a video showing how I replaced it but it was very hard to record and I didn't want to make a low quality video
Often times it’s not the pulley it’s the alternator on the verge of failure too especially if you notice your interior lights like dash and map lights flickering due to voltage fluctuating it’s just matter of time before it completely seize up and destroy your serpentine belt leaving you stranded
Yup possible, but the tensioner pulley seems to be a more common issue to be addressed
Hey I have a honest question I can’t find it anywhere online is there a actual supercharger made for the 2015 Honda Accord EX-L v6 3.5L or no they haven’t made it yet I see some superchargers were made for the earlier EX-L accords like the 6th to 8th generations but not the 9th gen I need help?
Yeah, definitely not. People have been fabricating their own custom turbocharger kits, but I personally had a custom setup from someone’s used Slick Fab turbo kit on their 9th gen 2.4L. I have the 6MT, but i’d probably not go forced induction on the CVT, cause it can’t really hold ~280+ WHP without blowing up your trans lol
@@isnowyazn If I'm not mistaken, the 2015 V6 has an automatic tranny, instead of the CVT
I haven't heard of any superchargers being made for it. Much easier to turbo it for slight performance increase. I'd imagine you'd need an entire new suspension and brake set up if planning to add an actual supercharger lol
Great Great vid man ! , just what i hear on my accord i knew it was coming from where the timing belt is but didn’t know exactly.. I hope you release that video on how to change it nd what tools did you use . Fuck what they say lot of us need the vid so we can fix it ourselves
Lol thanks Luis! I replaced this tensioner about 1 year ago and the noise just came back around 2 weeks ago. It's most likely because I bought the new tensioner pulley off Amazon. So my next one is going to be OEM. It's pricier but I don't want to be replacing it every year. Price difference is about $40 for this one and $140 for OEM
Video is up on my channel now for the replacement!
Hi , quick question. I have a 2015 Honda Accord sport and it makes this sound but very quiet whine I slowly accelerate and decelerate. Is that just the normal sound of the CVT transmission or should I still look to replace my tensioner pulley. Thanks in advance for the insight.
I'm not sure if you've seen my other tensioner pulley video where I do the actual repair. In that one you can hear the noise when I accelerate even if the car is parked the noise will get louder. Try having the car in park with your hood open and step on the pedal if the whining gets louder even though the car is in park then it probably can be your tensionor pulley
@@Striker50_ Thank you for the quick follow up. I also checked out your other video! I put my car in park with the hood open and the whining definitely gets higher when pressing the gas, but it’s only about 1/4th of the pitch that was in your video. It’s hard to hear unless your really listening for it. Can’t hear it over regular interstate/road noise. Is this something to be concerned about? Honestly just hoping I can rule out my transmission being shot haha. Thanks.
@@jedmayhak7768 lol I feel you. Hard to say over just comments. I suppose you can do a CVT oil change and see if there are chunks of metal that could be a sign. Keep in mind it wont sound as loud as my video because you're sitting in the car if you're doing it solo. Another way is to remove the serpentine belt off and spin the tensioner pulley with your hand. If there is a whirring noise then that's how you can tell it's the pulley. If it sounds quiet that's how you know it's not the tensioner pulley. You can also check all of the pulleys that way. If they're all quiet it's not the pulleys
Where is the installation video ?
Funny you asked: my new OEM tensioner pulley and serpentine belt just came in from Japan.
After about a year, the aftermarket one I bought is already giving out as well. I bit the bullet and am going OEM. When I recorded about a year ago, I didn't get the best video clips because I got frustrated and ran into a few hiccups. I didn't want to upload a half effort video. I will make sure to address a lot of the points in my new upcoming video ✌
Should be recording this weekend or the next
Installation video is on my channel now showing step by step
Can a bad tensioner make the car’s performance bad?
I wouldn't say bad if it's just the bearing but it might make the engine work just a little harder to turn the belt
Is the replacement video out yet?
I bought an aftermarket one, but I'm contemplating buying the OEM part
I took the vids already, but it's not the best recording quality so I'm iffy about uploading it bc people are very entitled if the video isnt perfect they start disliking it for no reason
seven months later and no replacement video? thanks for this one helping narrow it down I thought it was the alternator making the noise.
@@therealjpoe23 Hey Jay thanks for the comment; at the time there have been other expenses come up in this interesting economy, so I haven't budgeted for the OEM part. I want to make sure when I do approach this repair, my content is much better quality than this original video thanks for understanding, I'm not sponsored or anything unfortunately
@@therealjpoe23 Replacement video is on my channel now 👍
Replacement video is up and running on my channel now
My 2012 Accord sounds like this, but mostly when the A/C compressor is disengaged.
Keep in mind the A/C has a pulley as well so it could be that

Of course
Is this what your car is doing?
Yes. 2017 Honda Accord Sport
@@CJ-me5sj I just uploaded the step by step repair video on my channel
I changed mine out. It was a knuckledrag to do.
It's really a pain in the butt! I keep delaying making the video showing the process because at the time I recorded it I didn't really think about making a good recording since my account was much newer.
I'll do it soon though to show what helped! Because the only videos that show the process make it sound easier than it is and don't say what to do when things go wrong
I saw your torque specs on another post that's awesome. I'm going to be working on the video today and im going to remove the wheel to have a better angle since ive noticed no one shows it that way
This only happens when I pass 40mph and it’s making the noise on the front driver side, this still the problem ?
It could be a wheel bearing it seems. Do you have an ABS code, or any codes on your dash?
@@Striker50_ no codes yet, been making that noise for a couple weeks now.
@@nathanangel9762 You may be experiencing another issue than the tensioner pulley
This noise happens as you rev the car, even in park the noise will increase if you press the accelerator
@@Striker50_ I haven’t tried it in park yet, so if it does make the noise while it park it’s the tensioner pulley. But if it doesn’t make that noise in park then it’s the wheel bearing ?
That's a good starting point. Again, can't say with 100% certainty what it may, or may not be since all I could do is read your description of it.
One thing though is that the tensioner pulley sounds more like a supercharger noise.
The wheel bearing sounds more like a whirring noise and isn't as loud when you're driving along. @@nathanangel9762
This is about as close to the problem I'm having with my 2015 Accord the thing is the tensioner pulley have been replaced and nothing changed
There are other pulleys that do give out although this is the most common one. A way to check if it's the other pulleys is to remove the serpentine belt and spin them with your hand to listen for that grinding noise. I have a vid showing how to remove the serpentine belt if that benefits you
