Knowledge comes with a price. Good comic collectors have spent years studying comic books and their values, which ones are keys, which ones are rare, etc. Buyers have educated themselves. If a seller is unaware of a book’s vale or hasn’t educated themselves, it’s not up to us as collectors to educate them as to what books have value and which don’t. That’s solely on them. How many dealers have we all come across that don’t understand a book’s value yet has asked an exorbitant and unrealistic price? That’s why it’s called a free market. Let the buyer beware. The same saying holds true for sellers.
Well said, Mr Roboto. I feel the same way. It's a bit like us versus them in a way, especially when it comes to dealers who try to charge above market value. Sometimes they get the better deals, sometimes the buyer does. That's just the nature of the hobby.
Watched the entire video. Your finds are awesome first of all. Great perspective on hunting and finding good deals. It gets me pumped up and excited just like you say. I live for my faith, family and friends, but I am also passionate about my hobby. I was kind of hoping at the end when you looked up the definition of bragging it would have been what I was doing. It would have been a funny way to end. Haha. Great stuff and I appreciate your support.
@@GreatLegendShow legend!!!! Make some damned videos my friend. You were a huge part of what made this community so great back in the early days. We love you man.
Yeah, when I first read the definition, I thought it was going to be something like putting others down somehow, but turns out it is very close to what we all do when we show books. But I would say that bragging is doing it in a way that puts people down or makes you appear better than them like "Look what I found in the dollar bin! Don't you wish you were as lucky as me?? I'm the best hunter in the community. " haha. Anyway, thanks for watching, Alex, and keep those killer videos coming.
If your going to price a book low then I'm going to buy it low. I rarely buy books price at retail. Everyone comic book COLLECTOR wants a good deal and if you don't you are in it for the wrong reasons. I'm guessing this "person" was jealous that he or she didn't get the deal. I'm happy for everyone in this awesome comic book community for getting a book at a great price. I feel right place at the right time. I have gotten high grade key books for free and or for a stealth buy. Keep up the great work this content is giving me ideas 💡.
Hey Prowling for Comics! Thank you for commenting. Yes, right place right time is what it's all about, and the more we hunt (or prowl), the more we increase our chances to get lucky.
Chris, both you and Alex explained it perfectly. I was at a flea market in jersey and a dealer had a cardboard box full of unbagged, I boarded comics, most were in bad condition but a few were pretty clean, one was a new mutants 87.he was selling them for $2 apiece, I went to the trouble of buying 9 more books, most I didn’t need but I wanted to give him $20 , honestly because I new the value of the new mutants and I assume he didn’t. I gave him exactly what he asked for and was excited to get a great deal because that is what we all look for, always. Great video
Yeah, Michael, most dealers at flea markets look at comics just like any other items they have. It's just product that they are trying to move. Same with antique malls, etc. The sooner they can move stuff and get some cash in their pocket, the sooner they can pay the bills and put more product out. I always thought it was common knowlege, but I guess not.
Have you overpaid for a book ? Got home and found it was damaged? Didn’t look at it close enough? Lol. Stealth buys are the universe balancing itself out🤟
Stealth buys ..the only time I would probably not pull the trigger is if somebody's mom was selling their collection and they had a bunch of high valued stuff in it... If the mother had no idea what they had. That's the line I probably wouldn't cross. As for bragging or whatever ...we're on UA-cam showing stuff we bought or the deals we got ..that is literally social media.. bragging.
Hey Pgh Zombie! Thanks for commenting. Yeah, I agree with the mom selling the books situation. Also if someone was selling to raise money for a good cause. And yeah man, we're here to show our books and boast a little. As long as we're not putting anyone else down, it's all good.

No offense you should have paid the $100 for that box as you knew the value of that book. That would have been the honorable thing. You knew you had him as he did not think any of those books had much value. I’m sure when you took the stack up that X23 book was put in the middle. Now saying that the guy should have known what he had and it’s on him. You however should have taken the whole box for $100
Great video Chris, that’s the excitement about hunting. If you can’t find greats deals what’s the point. I don’t think I’ve ever felt bad paying $1 for a comic worth much more. 😂😂😂
I have had stealth buys from comic book dealers themselves who were just unaware of the going prices and was able to get a few books for a 'steal of a deal'. Some could say that paying over $100 for 36 pages of paper is unethical let alone six figures for a ghost rider first appearance .
Hey Michael! haha, nope, unfortunately, I can't take credit for that term. It's an old one from years ago. "Ninja pick" is another, but I never really cared for that one. Thanks for watching and commenting, my friend.
It's a nice video but I don't think you need to go around trying to defend the other fellow just let things be the way they are let comments be comments and not have to worry about answering them or anything like that just leave it be instead of keeping it going you know that's part of the maturity thing I don't know just seems weird to me
Not at all. I had a great online seller who sold Golden Age and Silver Age cheap. Got many of my Fawcett’s from the guy. I never felt bad. Sometimes the seller just wants to get rid of them. I am a seller like that. I don’t need the money. Plus it helps the buyer out in the end. As a seller I feel like I am a giver.
Hey Legend. Yeah, being a giver is another good point. Sometimes people sell cheap simply because they want someone else to be able to enjoy the books. It doesn't have to be viewed as someone getting ripped off. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hey Gio! They are called comic book top loaders. You can get them on eBay or Amazon (I think). Just search "comic book top loaders" and you can choose the size you need. Comic shops will sometimes have them too.
@@vannygorge I use Ultra Pro brand. They are 7 1/8 x 10 1/2. They fit modern, bronze, and most siver-age books. But you can buy golden-age size and even treasury size.

OG Legend always bragged about the books. Legend the character would brag more about the Mylar than the books themselves.

I say an unethical buy is a widow selling her husbands comics with no knowledge of it value and you hustle her
But then you'd have to define "hustle". Would it be a hustle to pay someone their asking price?
