Scotty Kilmer the only way to fix stupid is actually to listen to Scotty
Hey Scotty, What do you think about the vw amarok v6 diesel? I am from Uruguay (South America)
I'm partial to the Third gen Rav 4 with the V6.
I always wanted a fiat 500 until I saw your videos

Scotty 1 Week Ago: Don't buy turbocharged 4 cylinder SUVs.
Scotty Today: This turbocharged 4 cylinder SUV is my new favorite car.
I think that's because it's a bit smaller than the explorer
jason baisa no it’s because this rdx was just a basic turbo slapped onto a vtec Honda engine with a 5 speed auto ,None of the turbocharged gdi cvt crap or 10 speed autos
He also said dont get AWD. even convinced me to never buy one.
ya scotty is off the mark on this one...
If it's a honda or Toyota hell tell you to get it hes still in the 90
Wow that's the first car that scotty has worked on that is mostly clean inside.
At 1:54 there's a tampon and a condom.
Did I just hear Scotty recommend a turbo engine with AWD? Shocking.
Tech it’s Honda so I don’t blame him but yeah shocked me too
Its not GDI like the explorer
Honda bruh
Tomorrow:
"Why Not to Buy Acura SUVs (It Cost My Customer Thousands)"
Eliel Aguilar lol and then he’ll post a video saying that Acura just changed the game
Losing credibility
😂😂🤝 exactly Scotty can’t make his mind up
Don't forget the all wheel drive systems that are endless money pits as they age.
Turbocharger failures happen *a lot* on these things now. There are no serviceable parts on the turbo, which means you must replace the entire turbo assembly. Parts & labor come to around $7k, pretty much making it a total.
Would avoid these things unless you got it for $2k.
My wife has an '07 MDX with over 190,000 miles, and it's in great shape and runs great. Only issue we've ever had was having to replace the wiring sub-harness in the door which cost all of $40 and 15 minutes.
Acura RDX: I have SH-AWD
‘94 Celica: Is my legendary reliability a joke to you?
Rajkiran Natarajan Subaru Forester XT laughs in symmetrical AWD
shinkueagle reliability? 😂
Bobby May yeah Acura’s are reliable, moreso then subaru.
Nick Zito Modern Subaru’s are terrible.
s blagg you mean like the fact that 1.5 million had their warranties extended due to CVT failure? Or the fact that 2.3 million were recalled over a brake light switch issue? Or the thousands of head gasket jobs people have done to make them run past 90,000 miles? Or the oil burning issue on the H6?
Scotty: The Acura RDX is my favorite suv
Scotty: Why the Acura RDX is a endless moneypit
CHANGEDD THEEE GGGGGAAAAAMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
If you have Acura RDX you are stupid.😁
I'm Interested in getting a 06 mdx touring any tips for my 1st car?
Arnoldo Texta - well... I just bought an RDX 2015, 50,000 miles for $15k USD. I love it so far, but I haven’t had it very long. I shopped and shopped and negotiated and shopped. I ended up going with a dealership because I didn’t find there was much price differential for.
Is there a reason you want an ‘O6? Budget or you like that year? As for advice: be patient, and don’t limit yourself to looking in your area - if you’re willing, look within 500 miles, it broadens your options.
Have a mechanic check it out. Set up your inspection the same day you intend to buy it.
@@EverettNewell I'm on a budget haha
A local dealer is selling it for a total of 5500 with 1500 down it has 111xxx miles what do ya think about it
Scotty recommending an AWD turbo? Sacrilege!
"Never ever buy a turbocharged car especially an old one. It won't last." Scotty Kilmer
I am surprised too, I thought Scotty will never agree for turbo & AWD Vehicles, but here we go, but I think it depends on the manufacturer, when it comes to Honda (Acura) & Toyota (Lexus) the case different due to the quality measures.
Hes not recommending hes just giving his opinion based on his time working with the car
Did he tell you to buy this car?
how about you quote him on this 3:11
I’m a proud owner of an 07’ Acura RDX that I acquired with 80k miles and I now have 260k on it and I couldn’t be happier!! Loved this review!
Nice
I just bought my favorite SUV endorsed by Scotty. 2020 Toyota 4 Runner. I paid a lot more than 5K!
Scotty doesn’t endorse of you buying a new car. Used purchases only
How much did you pay for it? Just curious as I am in the market for a new one as well
@@gavinkeddie8540 not much lower than mrsp :(
It should be cheap with the plague
Next Scotty video: "I was wrong about turbo engines"

Scotty's favorite SUV: 1994 Toyota Celica
I have a 2004 Acura MDX AWD with 165,000 miles love the car! Runs great!
You always warn us to stay away from turbocharger specially when it gets older and you also warned us several time to stay away from all-wheel drive because it is over cost to repair, but in case of this vehicle it's all upside down.
Not on this car... This is the ONLY exception and I can prove it!
He did say it doesn't have the dreaded GDI. So supposedly less strain on the motor.
@@johnwilliamson2707 is 2010 Acura RDX GDI?
"Runs like a scalded ape," is my new favorite phrase😂
I'm dyin, Scotty😂👍
That clicking in my Honda Pilot turned out to be a sticking PCV valve. Easy fix, cheap part... after the service center charged me $350 to "analyze" the problem!
The coolest thing about the first gen Acura RDX?
It was Honda’s first turbocharged car for America and it is pretty capable has a lot of potential
Swap it into a civic
@@bigsohc Rdx has more power than a civic. Yes the body style is same and civic is a great car too but rdx is not just a disguised/dressed-up civic
I have an 11 with the shawd. It's a fun canyon runner and highway puller. I love getting in it every time. 105k miles with zero issues and regular maintenance.
Where did you find a Acura RDX of that year with low miles from ?
My wife had a 2010 rdx when we met and she loved it. Never had any issues other than 1 wheel bearing that went bad at 6 years. When we had 3 kids and needed something bigger, we got a used 2014 mdx which has proven to be reliable so far. It has a v6, no turbo, which i prefer but is still GDI. Also got the front wheel drive instead of all wheel drive. The MDX does get good mileage, 20 city and 31 highway (actual mileage not the EPA rated mileage which i believe is 18/26) so it gets way better than rated mileage. Nothing wrong with it so far and its almost 7 years old.
Cool story... Gotta love 'em both!
I was starting to think I wouldn't see a video from Scotty today.
working on my second channel new video that came out today!
My'03 Pilot V6 AWD has been a champ. Bought it with 135k, four years later it's still going strong with 245k.
My '15 Buick (Opal made) Verano has been great. Don't take it to a dealership cause they screw up a wiper blade install. My local independent shop has kept it ship shape!
A used one is a great deal Scotty gives a positive review on older cars / suv s
Drives up the prices only 5k have it checked out by a professional mechanic with fancy scan tool 👍
Wow, the car clean.. its a rare event in scotty channel
We have one it runs great no transmission problems, just cleaned the rear diff fluid and literally almost nothing in the magnet. Great car. 125k miles 2010 RDX
This RDX has the same power as my Pilot from about the same time. They get identical fuel economy. 18 city, 22 highway
Which one gets more succ
My Ford car gets 19 city and 25 highway even the mustang gas a better mpg
@@itz.ant07 ford🤮🤮
No Way - well, my V6 is 3.5L but the Acura’s 2.3L 4 banger is turbo charged. I couldn’t tell ya. Technically mine is rated at 244 horsepower while this is 240, but the RDX has 260 pound•feet of torque compared to my 240. In the end, they’re burning about the same amount of fuel though

Bought a 2010 RDX with 40kmiles from a grandma driver this year, drives like a dream, especially in the winter. SHAWD is really great.
Anthony M how much did you pay??
Scotty vid notes: “Today, say ‘scalded ape’ and ‘killer sound system’ three times each
I got a 11rdx with 160k. Runs great. Plus I upgaded the calipers from the tl type s. Very fun to drive
Got a 2008 acura tsx with 40k miles. It still makes no sense but I love it.
Can't go wrong with either!
I have a 2008 Acura RDX with 196,100 love it
Mom has an MDX from this year. Acura really made solid vehicle back then. Canadian made. Can’t beat that SH-AWD! Still corners like a champ at 175k.
Hey Scotty, what are your thoughts on an Acura MDX 2010 sh-awd?
Bought a nice 2012 Tech Package one with 50k miles, this year. Cost me $14k well worth it. Should last me a long time! 👍🏼 great small suv. I also had a 2012 Toyota RAV4 V6 in my mind. But the features and comfort of the RDX is miles ahead.
I love how these have the turbo and the SH-AWD compared to the 2nd Gen RDX which has neither. Also a reason why I didn’t pick a 2nd Gen RDX.
Turbocharged?
13 years old?!?!
AND IT DOESNT EVEN LEAK OIL?!?!
*How?!?!?*
Dave Crupel superior build quality and the previous owner doesn't drive hard
The owner died 12 years ago.
Scotty magic service.
It's a Honda, that's why
Made in Japan??
I just bought one 2008 Acura RDX with 135,000 miles for $4600. It’s speedy with the turbo
Parents have the same car and while I did beat on it a lot when learning how to drive it's still running strong with no issues.
We had a Acura MDX when I was in vocational school back in 2008. Students stole the Speakers out of the car three days after we got the car donated from Honda
I have a 2007 rdx with 150k. Warning, tires for this vehicle are very expensive $800. Recent repairs include a failed coil pack. Failed ac compressor relay fuse. Then a failed radiator that caused my trans fluid to mix with coolant. Like the car but it is quickly turning into a money pit.
About that 2000 Impala in the q&a segment....if it runs rough, in addition to the tune-up, the ignition coils might be causing it as well. I had a 2002 Bonneville with the same engine and had the same issue at around the same mileage
Scotty, Thanks for putting the second cat pillow back on your couch!
Hey scotty my 2008 acura rdx was leaking psf. I had to get the pressure hose swapped out. I bought some premium full synthetic fluid oem compatible fluid designed for all asain vehicles. And I bought some Honda genuine psf. I didn't know I needed 3 bottles. I only bought one and my mechanic used both fluids once it was flushed am I gonna be okay? Or should I swap it out and use honda genuine only?
Scotty, the wind deflector is to prevent stone chips on the hood.
My buddy’s got one of these, it’s pretty quick and it handles really really well surprisingly. I was shocked
Scotty, when telling people to change their ATF, tell them to shift to reverse for 5 seconds, shift to park and turn off the engine. Then change. They can only change a certain percentage of it so I would change it about 4 times between 70,000 and 90,000 miles. Then do it again between 150k and 170k, and keep doing that every 70k. This back-flushes the transmission filters which get clogged going in forward gears. You don't want in reverse too long or more crud gets sucked up into the guts of the transmission. I enjoy your channel and have spread the news.
The Acura’s that I liked were the 01-04 mdx had the infamous 3.2L engine was a trade mark reliable engine they had these in the 98 Acura TL 3.2. There’s one of each for sale in Alaska. Car is $1600 102,000 miles FWD and mdx $2900 162,000 but 4x4
Would love to find one of those but here in New England we are talking 7-8 grand for an 07 with decent miles . will be cheaper but closer to 200k for miles.
I had a guy come in with a 2002 Pontiac with the 3800 engine. Rough idle. He threw a bunch of parts at it but when he asked me what it could be, I said it's probably the idle air control valve (IACV). Sure enough, that was his fix!
Scotty I thought you said stay away from Turbos cuz they cost so much to replace? Love your videos I've learned a lot more then what I knew since I've been watching your videos for some time now thanks.
My favorite is my tiny v6 ex35 2008 crossover that is over 180k miles. still runs great and is flawless. This luxury vehicle is still going strong.
Thanks for the info on the RDX. I do have one question and I really do hope you answer it. How does the new one with the GDI stack up if you drive it normally not dogging it. Will is be as reliable as the older one.
Hi Scotty I have a question was thinking about buying newer 2017 Ford Mustang V6 manual transmission or should I get an EcoBoost Mustang I saw your video about the EcoBoost but I have concern about the turbo breaking down over time and causing me fortune what’s your thoughts on it?
I was considering this crossover at one point because I was looking for a compact crossover for college in NY 😂. And I live in NJ so we usually need AWD cars here for the winter & snow season we usually have here
I've had mine for 4 years, it has 260k it's had it's issues but that's basically because the previous owners didn't stay on the maintenance which is important on these cars . As long as you use the fluids you are supposed to. Stay on top of the actuator eye bolt for the turbo. It will last a long time. I've been very hard on mine but I make sure it's never running dirty or redline all the time. It has few mods and I've spanked Mustang Gt's, STI's , Si' s all day long. Let that turbo breath and it will give you good results but don't neglect it. Oh yeah I'm also still on stock internals and turbo.
Quick question on the eye bolt, common issue?
Guess who doesn’t have this car in his country
Me it’s not available in Germany :(
Put a turbo on a crv
You still got the good Volkswagens tho
@@deidaramartinez847 Not if you ask scotty, good and vw doesn't fit on same sentence.
Australia is probably going to lose Honda completely. They dropped the ball big time.
Better if you don't have it - I'd rather get a RAV4 or even a Kia Sportage
9:12 Jatco Crap Wagon. That's the clean, non-offensive version of the name.
my 07 tsx. has over 170000 miles. love it. got it used 4 years ago
Turbo 4 cyl AWD ? As far as I remember you always said stay away from something like that.
Not a gdi it only spools when you step on it
Scotty is cleaning up his office!! Shelves looking good my man!!
Very nice car. I had a new 2003 CL-S which I gave to the son of a friend when I bought a new Paasport this winter. The 2003 Cl-s was in perfect condition, ran as new. I have reached an age (74) and infirmity which made it very difficult for me to get in and out of the car. Interesting fact: my new Passport with a V-6 3.5L gets marginally better mileage on regular than this 2007 RDX get with its 2.3L 4 cyl on premium.
I totally agree with you in that Scotty. Great car.
Proper balance goes further than more power all the time & my Tercel standard transmission still runs like a baby with 220k on it, albeit with 2 clutch replacements in the interim.

Hi Scotty I’m looking to buy, a 2002 Subaru liberty Rx 2.5 litre, I know about all the head gasket problems, but I was thinking of getting a aluminium radiator which is 30mm thicker than the stock one, what do u think cause I genuinely love this model of Subaru
I got the 2013 RDX top of the line and it still cost $37,000.00 (except it is a V6) and Honda/Acura still skimped out on the rear air vent for the passenger.
Had a 2004 mdx 3.5 liter, the engine warped.. you drive near the rev limiter a little to often a little to long and it will probably happen to any vtec engine. Wish they didn't warp like that !

Scotty, I know you advise against buying used BMW's. I definitely see why you say that. But I only paid $2,500 for a 2011 328i xdrive. So I figured I'd take my chances. Just got a part in I was waiting for. Drivers side adaptive headlight control module went out. After I put new one in should i excpet to have to have the new computer coded to match with the other existing headlight that still works? Is this something you have heard of? Scotty... Now that I know you like Acuras, what's your thoughts about the Acura RSX?
I'd just like to know your opinion on them.
I've owned a 06 Acura RSX for about 8 years, I purchased it with only 90,000 miles and have put 130,000 extra miles on it (it's at roughly 220,000 miles now). It's still running strong with only the minor issues like the driver's belt buckle going out and driver's door lock actuator and other minor things like that, that are used frequently.
I'd just like to know your opinion on them since you liked this Acura.
