Not exactly literally. The BBC mini-series took place in the actual time period of the original novel in the 19th century. This one is yet another contemporary version.
Well said! I agree! The original novel is a classic! The 1953 film was a ominous scariest and the Spielberg remake of 2005 was H.G. Wells's story set to modern times! This version is just another alien invasion movie with the same title... that it doesn't really live up to!
Haven't seen the tv series but this looks nothing like the movie, which I thought was really nice. The original had the towering, looming threat of the tripods, and the eyes searching for hiding humans. From this trailer I have no clue what the threat is. Will tell a family member who loves the movie, but might not watch this myself.
The first thing I was waiting to see were the huge tripod machines stalking around. In this latest incarnation, there are a lot of dead bodies laying in the streets, a few human characters trying to avoid the unseen, quadropedic, robotic aliens, so as not to get shot, pierced, attacked or whatever these crawling weirdies are doing to the human population, but no gliding manta machines... no lumbering, giant tripods! This is certainly not the way H.G. Wells imagined the literary Invasion at all!

They used up all the new ones
So I'm guessing you're not gonna be the first in line for Fast and Furious 9 ? 😂
War of the worlds is being milked until the fans enjoy it
No need for original ideas. Good remakes are much appreciated!
