We'll done - I remember my first time on snow in Soll, Austria after surviving numerous dry slopes. The speed on snow/ice was alarming, being polite with my words! We all start somewhere and having now enjoyed many ski holiday days, it's well worth those early apprehensions. Bon ski!
Thanks Jeff that’s such a nice comment. I’m naturally quite a cautious person too so I’m definitely a slower learner compared to some people. But I just love being on skis and figure that as long as I’m enjoying myself it’s okay to be a slower learner 😊 thanks again, your comment has made me smile!
No problem Charlotte - as an aside, you have many years ahead to perfect your style. I am off to Turin in a few weeks to ski with my brother in law who was with me on that first trip to Soll. I will be 70 two weeks after I get back!!! So enjoy 😁
Thanks Charlotte. I really enjoyed your video! I'm trying to plan a trip for my husbands 40th. I did see you went to Montgenevre too. Do you think that would be a better resort? We have kids and they are all beginners as am I :)@@CharlotteFurnessWriter
@@AoifeCliff1 I think if you have children and you're a beginner, then Montgenevre is the better resort as they have a much larger nursery slope area. Bardonneccia felt very small and the step up from nursery slope to their 'green' runs was far too difficult for me. It didn't help that there wasn't much snow in Bardonneccia either so the runs were very icy and not great condition - a lot of people got injured. Aside from that, the town doesn't really have much going on. It was very quiet, and it didn't have much atmosphere. Sorry that all sounds quite negative - we did have a lovely holiday, but we wouldn't return. Montgenevre in comparison had wide nursery slopes so I didn't feel like I was queueing all the time or running into people, and the transition from nursery slope to green run was much easier. I did a lovely green run from the top of the mountain back to the resort. We're hoping to book Montgenevre for next year! Sorry that's a LOT of text haha! hope it's helpful
@@AoifeCliff1another place to consider would be Alpe D'Huez - that was a really lovely resort. We went in 2020 just before covid kicked off. It has a great atmosphere, a good range of runs from like proper beginner, to easy greens, to harder greens like Marcel's Farm. We'd definitely consider going back there. Only issue is Grenoble airport which can be very busy!
