Lantana is such an awesome plant! When I lived in Vegas two years ago, I discovered that Lantana was the only plant that generously released a strong, awakening smell among other desert plants. We also have plenty of colorful lantanas in New York City. Whenever I come across lantana plants, I always pluck out a few flowers to breathe in its distinctively assertive smell. It feels like saying HI to an old friend.
I live in middle Georgia and my Latana are planted in / on pine tree shavings, rich black soil, and in full sun. They grow abundant and as big a my ford focus. I keep them pruned a lot. They attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, and are always blooming. I never water them and they really thrive. When I planted them, I thought they were going to be small, but they really took off.
Thank you for showing the positive side of lantana. Some videos seen to concentrate on their various problems but you showed me different ways to use it. Personally, I love it. I guess I'll know more as my three new lantanas grow bigger. Lol. I don't mind pruning at all. I spend alot of time just observing my plants trying to learn their various ways, removing dead branches or leaves, inspecting for pests (snails are terrible this year), etc. There's so much to learn! Thank goodness lantana can take care of itself if I'm gone for a bit. You made me more confident in that. Thanks again!
I bought a lot of Lantana this pass week the red and orange ones mostly reds and throw some daisy in between look so gorgeous! I live in Az and i don't have time to water it daily. But i love gardening so trimmings and is piece of cake for me lol
I am planning to plant lantanas in my backyard but I don’t have a drip system. How often would I need to water them? I live in AZ Awesome video, by the way!
Thanks for watching! Happy the video helped. I'm in Arizona as well. If you plant in Spring, I would water every few days for the first 2 weeks and then you can spread out to one good soak once a week. They don't need much water at all.
I just had mine attacked by Lace Bugs. I put some Neem oil on them and they are already looking a lot better. I believe there is one other type of Lantana. Mounding Lantana. I have them in my front yard.
Wow thanks! Great video ….did I miss what variety your huge yellow one is please? I need that for a fence line shrub and would love to get started on it right away if it it is not too late, I am in TN, zone 7a… thanks again!
I believe it's just called "Gold Lantana". You can plant now, you may want to cover in the winter when it gets below freezing. If you don't want to do that, wait until next Spring.
Does the root grow crazy and deep in ground? I wonder if it takes away water and nutrients from the tree. I use sweet potato vine as ground cover, and the roots do so that my three year old lemon stay the same height. I am in the process of digging them all up.
I'm shocked it got so tall. Is there a way to keep it low to the ground like a ground cover? I want to plant it in my front yard. I just want it to stay low. Thanks, any advise is good.
Our Lantana got wild pig eat all when our friend forgot shot the back gate during we went to vocation on this May. Today I got a lantana yellow flower at Walmart. So it will like yours so big and tall?? Thanks
The rabbits are eating my lantana I planted in the front yard (I have 1 red and 1 pink). They already killed one. They don’t touch my neighbor’s yellow lantana. I don’t get it! I’m going to relocate them to my walled backyard to save them. Thank you for the great information; I love your video!
Sundar Rajan, India. Lantana is an invasive species. It has been introduced all over the world as an ornamental plant. Due to invasion of this in the wild, it has suppressed native species. No grass and other herb and shrub species will establish under the shade of this and due to allelopathic effect. It has undergone several mutations. Please discourage growing lantana.
Everybody says these are so easy to grow, but everyone I get I kill. Example: last Wednesday I bought a Bandana lantana in a pot. It's already dying! I was told it wouldn't need a lot of water because it's roots are already established in the pot. I just don't get why these damn plants hate me so much!!!
It doesn't matter what kind of plant, if it's in AZ and in a pot it will be difficult to keep alive in the summer unless you give it constant water! It's just too hot, pots dry out extremely fast. Put some Lantana in the ground and you'll have much better success!
No doubt Lanata is a beautiful plant. But it is not native to India. According to the forest department and ecologists it is a poisonous plant and unwanted in Indian jungles

Beautiful...I also love how the plant smells!
Beautiful lantanas, just planted two this week. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome! Thanks again for watching!
I love lantana in front and back of my house
Love my Lantanas!
Just bought a sunburst lantana today. Very helpful video.
Amazing brother. What is your dig hole size to container ratio when planting these? Also, did you daily water them the first few months?
Its so beautiful
Thanks for watching!

Great video, just got one yesterday. What type did you have as a tree form. Looks great. Thanks
In Tucson, there are yellow lantanas that grow like the purple lantanas, the plant just spreads out wide.

waaaaaw benar2 keren me like lantana me have monster lantana
great video! I would like for you to do a video of winter care to show how they look in the cold season dormant
Thanks for watching! And thanks for the suggestion!
Is manure okay to apply in March for these pretties?
If you're using organic compost, you can really feed whenever.
Why are there no butterflies? Lantana is very popular with butterflies.
Nice to meet you.
Yes! Most times of the year my lantana is crawling with butterflies. Thanks for watching!
Is that 1 plant are several together to make that huge bush ? Are the annual or perennial?
1 single plant! It took a few years to get that big. It blooms almost year round. During the winter it looks a little rough when it gets super cold.
Can you make a video showing more detail about how to get your lantana to look like a tree?
Good idea. Yes, I will try to do that soon. Thanks for watching!

I've never had that be an issue. I think you'll be okay if you do it.

It will grow that way if you train it up that way. Just be patient and give it some time and it will happen!
How long does it take for you to grow your big Lantana tree or bushes?
I just bought the purple lantanas. Is it ok to grow in a container?
Yes, they will do fine in containers. Happy growing!
Are these just the yellow lantanas? I hear that the radiant red/yellow grow the tallest is this true?
I am struggling with 3 lantanas, not much larger than when bought a year ago.

Thanks for watching and good luck with the rabbit problem! Luckily thats not something I have to deal with!
Why do my lantanas not bloom?
Lantana grow like a weed.
noxious weed
Unfortunately, my wife calls me the same thing. So the fact that I hear it from you and from the internet really hurts me. Thanks for watching though!

Lanaranas are so pretty but I can’t stand the smell :(
I agree with that!
I LOVE LOVE the Badass smell of Lantanas! Its a smell that brings you back to the present moment instantly.
