Awesome tutorial. I didn't follow it exactly (I am running a full install ubuntu machine with openhab2 as a service) but you filled in all the holes I was wondering about! Thanks again.
First of all I'd like to thank you for your efforts but I have a question and I hope you answer me . i have been started following the guides three monthes ago .. i have been finished the network then the home automation server then openhab and remote access .. now i stopped at adding the devices .. my pivotal confusion is that i found that sonoff and shelly , for example , provides much simpler systems that doesn't need rasbperry pi or openhab , you just attach the device ( switch , plug . ...etc ) with electricity and bind it with thier own app , that simple . the question is why i would be forced to use a complex system while there is more simpler systems provided ?
many things you set up by tedious typing of linux command can be done with the openhabian config program. If you have installed openhabian as i think you did, yjere is also no need to open the config files with sudo nano, you can openup the config directory in your file browser and use a decent editor
Thanks for this! The /etc/openhab2/services/mqtt.cfg file does not exist for me and I believe this is due to the new version of MQTT broker. I found that it is in /etc/mosquitto/mosquitto.conf and by default, it loads all config files from /etc/mosquitto/conf.d directory.
I am unable to see the MQTT add on when I search for it. For that matter, I don't see a lot of add-ons there. eg. Denon, etc. Isn't every add-on a part of the standard installation? Or could I be doing something wrong?
Ok. I figured out what was wrong. My package was set to minimal. I changed it to standard in the addons.cfg file (/etc/openhab2/services/addons.cfg). Now I see it. sudo nano /etc/openhab2/services/addons.cfg package = standard
I have it installed on ubuntu, but how do I connect it via Filezilla, so I can upload my files into the bindings, etc directories? I tried all sorts of passwords but can't get into it.
I have a problem. After I've plugged the Raspberry Pi in and the script starts scrolling down I have to type in an username and a password to log in. I typed in the name and the password which were in the configuration file but it says "login incorrect". Can you help me please?

hey your website says it is under construction on the tabs
If you right-click on the application and then press "open" you can directly open the program. So you don't always have to go to your settings.
Thanks for this!

ssh is no longer enabled in openhab. Alternative way is by hooking up a monitor and keyboard.
I get "Permission denied, please try again." when i enter the password. Please help.
