It is an unfortunate but valuable lesson for the kids regarding animal keeping. Well handled mate and your kids dealt with it brilliantly

Yikes. I know there's huge owls around that area. A dude got knocked off his bike by one outside of Cache Creek. Your son is taking it well, and you're teaching him well. :)

Thankx man ya we get some huge owls out here. It's realy important to me my kids get tought the reality of things so they can make there own informed decisions on were they want there life to lead.

You are doing well to teach those kids these things. Tough though. We've got some owls here that have taken wild rabbits and other birds in our yard.

    That's always rough.
Our neighbor across the fence from us used to have pigeon coupe with up to 200 Rock Pigeons and Mourning Doves living in them seasonally and, every once in a while, they'd get pounced on from above by a hawk or an owl. Same with the finches getting pounced on by the Scrub Jays. The hawks & owls do it to eat and survive, but the Scrub Jays do it for territory/food and, I think, for fun sometimes.

That really sucks bro. If it’s not a cat, it’s usually a bird of prey. In one sense, it shows the kids the circle of life in nature. That feather looks like it belongs to a hawk.

I Thought hawk at first too but the owl came back the next 3 nights. It was a big snowy Owl. I think it's important to give them a good view on life and death. It's the only thing that effects all of us equally.

I've never felt so bad about the death of something that I eat at least 3 times a week. It won't make me stop eating chicken, but I might start eating owls, hawks and weasels as a form of protest in support of Citrine.

*chuckles* It's all good we eat our birds too. Good thing because weasel is very chewy... Thankx for being honest about the emotion in the vid. It was hard to edit down and still keep that feeling it deserved.

Might get hit by a copy right claim from Disney? I think it's a Startreck character or something... second though go with it, no one will notice let your inner weasel shine!

Ya it's all part of things mate. It still sucks when it's an animal you care for. But life and nature are cruel things at times.
