- The Kingsbarns 'Vibrant Stills' STR Cask Release was selected and bottled for the German market in collaboration between the German importer Vibrant Stills Alba Import and Kingsbarns Distillery Manager Peter Holroyd. STR is short for shaved, toasted and re-charred and is a special cask type.

Hardly any experience with STR cask whiskies, but I agree completely with your take on blended malts being greater than the sum of their parts. Case in point - Compass Box Spice Tree, Flaming Heart, The Lost Blend, and Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt delights 🥃

I have an infinity bottle of Shelter Point... It's better than any one expression of Shelter Point, and I did it by randomly adding a dram whenever I opened a fresh bottle of Shelter Point. Of course, In order to make room for that dram I enjoyed a pour from the infinity...

The Lindores STR is out of balance when compared with the standard bottling from my experience.
so that means the standard bottling is very nicely blended :-)
@@WhiskyJason1 - I like to think of the standard bottling as being a well constructed confection of young single malt casks which hides the youthfulness well - I think Cuvée Is the posh word for it.
Cuvée is a wine term - that some people in the whisky industry now like to use :-)
