Circa Survive is a legendary band in their own right. The fact any grown ass man can still sing like he does is not a common occurrence. I just like to appreciate the band for what they are, and the albums they’ve delivered in the past. Respect!
I am so blessed to have seen this tour live. I always show up hours before the gates open. He was just out there chilling with the band playing and I’ll never forget the first of three times I saw him. I just dropped his music entirely after he sobered up for his wife and child. Props to him, don’t get me wrong, but his voice and energy took a different turn. This version of him was genuinely like an auditory org*sm. He was so bloody high when I saw him it sounded far closer to the album.
I have been to some dope concerts. The only ones that topped this one were Circle Takes the Square potentially when they reunited for a second album nine years later and one of Manson’s last shows I was so blessed to go to. I faked insurance fraud I couple years prior and everyone said I would regret it for the rest of my life. Dear gods, I did not. It genuinely saved my life the first time, potentially the second, and two of my three tattoos are dedicated to SAY10. Bro is innocent too.
Also, The Sound of Animals fighting was fire, such a brilliant pairing, and I wish, more people had heard it. They barely left Cali though and I am on the East Coast. I wish I had heard Anthony in that band.
I just saw them last week and his voice is pristine. It is odd that it doesn't seem to carry over well on the UA-cam videos but in person his voice is even more impressive than on the albums. I cant explain why these videos don't do him justice, but take my word on it that it is absolutely gorgeous in person
He's pretty flat for most of it but he still does SUUCH a great job of controlling his voice. I'm a lead singer in a band- this song is SO hard. He kills it.
Anthony is singing more, "proper", on this, because he's exhausted and strained his voice and it's very obvious. It's not all in part of his aging, the man was on tour and was simply tired. If you were on tour belting your lungs out every night then you'd strain your voice too. No matter how good your technique is, you'll strain your voice after several shows without a day break in between. I still Love him here though and think he sounds amazing as ever=)
Simply not true. With proper care for your voice, technique and warming up you can do it night in and night out unless you're sick. Many, many vocalists do it.
esta banda .. en serio no se como describirla pero la neta cada tono de sus guitaras con armonía y la bateria con esos ritmos y la vos de anthony green me eriza la piel... desborda todos mis sentimientos
My first circa show was at warped in like ‘07. I remember being very close to the stage and guys saying “Anthony Green bring your sexy ass out here.” Another guy next to me was like his voice is sex. Lol. I didn’t get it at the time. But learned very quickly. When this song was played the crowd just swayed, and I felt like I was in water. It was like I wasn’t in that crowd anymore and it was just me and the band. A serious out of body experience. I will never forget that! Circa is the shit!
I remember i saw an interview with Howard Jones when he was still lead singer of Killswitch Engage. He said how he loved this band. I checked them out and have been following them ever since.
All I'm saying is id never heard of Saosin/Circa Survive/Anthony Green until i saw Circa Survive perform in Scotland on the 2008 Kerrang Tour with Coheed & Cambria, Fightstar & Madina Lake but this is the band that stole the show. Loved & adored all the other artists prior to this tour but for this band to just come out of nowhere in my country & hear not only this voice but these musician was a treat my 15 year old self won't forget. Much love to you Circa Boys \m/ ohh & when he hit that last note when id saw them i defo found some sort of Messiah :P
Too all those commenting on the crowd, if you ever see a video of this full performance Anthony Green says it is either the first or one of the few times they actually played in Sydney. The crowd has no idea who they are, and they came for the main act, Coheed & Cambria.
Looks like he used the falsetto in his voice to prime himself for the scream. That's awesome. Explains why he's not pushing for the notes (also gotta save your voice when you're touring to be fair)
Exactly. It's pretty rare you actually see a crowd go mental for a support band especially one they've never heard of before regardless how good they are.
okay I need to add my two cents because there are a lot of ignorant comments on here with people whom obviously do not know about touring a live shows. 1) imperfection. it's not always going to sound the same live as on CD. In recording you get multiple breaks and re do's, live you do not. 2) he is on tour. No matter how good of a singer you are, your voice will strain and cut out. it doesn't matter. that plays a toll on your vocal cords. one day they may sound good, next time maybe not. catch a band early in the tour for the best experience. 3) Anthony green is getting older, and with age, your voice changes. either way, he still sounds good and can out sing a HELL of a lot of other people. his vocal range is insane whether it be falsetto, head voice, or whatever you want to call it.
Todd Minor plus he seems to only be getting better. Those earlier live videos of Circa when they were newer are pretty rough haha. He actually gets to those long drawn out high notes now. I saw them 1 time in San Luis Obispo with The Dear Hunter and they were both so good. Hope to make it to one of the dates for this 10yr tour.
@K Curran No, honestly I am sure it was just a random hiccup. I'm sure it happens. In my initial reaction and comment I was just being comedically dramatic. Its how I am sometimes.
So I’m looking through these comments and seeing people defending his voice. Why? I think it sounds great for a live performance and I just listened to the studio version. Wanna hear bad vocals live? Some of the more popular Sleeping with Sirens live videos are pretty bad.
Why don't they just transpose the songs for him? Way too high for him to sing live..Change keys and he won't have to struggle and strain his voice so much..Easy fix..

MrBenbolt I simply cannot agree. The musical depth and intensity, the raw emotive quality and all-round intelligence of Circa completely exceeds Coheed in every way. But like I said, it's subjective and that's not saying Coheed are bad, they're excellent. Circa is better though. Period. :P

that's not falsetttto that's just his regular old weird as shit head voice. he very rarely pops into a falsettttooo I think everyone in these comments is fucking crazy too he sounds so great in this video!
Billy Overton Thing is, most people only see the one performance and they say "oh Anthony sucks now, he's using falsetto" but what they don't see is him being on tour for nunerous days on end and just simply being tired. Also yeah, that's not falsetto :v
NGL first time i heard this song i swore it was either a girl singing or a really young boy and the singers face realllllllyyy dont match his voice. But this sounds sick nevertheless
Se me hace muy injusto: la banda esta tocando EXCELENTE. Y a Anthony le faltan muchas notas arriba para cantar esa cancion como en realidad la hizo. ☹️
Why has no one commented yet on Anthony singing all his high notes in what sounds like falsetto? For someone who made his career on belting it's really disappointing to see him resort to breathy falsetto notes for the entirety of songs. Understandably, his voice has gotten much deeper since On Letting Go. The band really needs to play all of the old songs a step down. That is what Coheed & Cambria does, because Claudio can't hit the notes of his youth either. So Circa, I advise you to down-tune your guitars and maybe next time YOU'LL be headlining.
you have a point. although i think he uses his mix voice here, not falsetto and i like this performance despite the fact he's obviously struggling with the high notes. otherwise i totally agree.
You're right, it does sound more like mixed voice. Anthony is obviously still a fantastic performer, it's just that looking back on past performances it's the powerful high notes that bring the show to a new level. I love the man though.

the drums are so epic on this one
Cool Kool dude I used to play the drums along with it and you are so right
Yeah. He’s solid
The drums was the first that got me obsessed with this song

ANTHONY IS SO GOOOOOD HOW DOES HE STILL HIT THAT CHORUS
im impressed with how the live sounds vs the studio. i love this song.
He’s in tune for most of this performance and actually hits a lot of the notes on the head I really don’t get the criticism
He's pretty flat for most of it but he still does SUUCH a great job of controlling his voice. I'm a lead singer in a band- this song is SO hard. He kills it.

he just had one of those days i saw them a week ago and he sounded perfect along with the rest of the band
Especially since he's singing so high all the time too!
I’ve heard him talk. Not particularly high pitched imo.
I feel like he’s got inhuman ability to work that high throat.
His mutant power is his neck.

He sounds just like he should. Like on letting go. So if he uses his falsetto get over it. He wrote the fucking song
haven't heard anthony sing like that in a couple of years now
what a crowd..
seeing Anthony live in a few weeks with lsdunes, can’t wait !
You notice that tiny little extra bar of music just before the last chorus, So he can take a breather?
Hey Moshcam! Thanks you!
Very nostalgic!
This song always reminds me of Razor Ramon.
It’s as this should’ve been Razor Ramon’s music entrance theme.
Classic joint 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Haha people think he's using falsetto here that's interesting how many people have no idea what falsetto is/sounds like!
Still as good as ever.
true, just listen to his "normal"/talking voice, he sounds deeper than before
Maravilloso 💜
Exactly. It's pretty rare you actually see a crowd go mental for a support band especially one they've never heard of before regardless how good they are.

why does he do that at 4:05??? was he not clean here?
Charlie Chan i mean this was taken on 420, plus it was in 2013 so he was probably fucked up but idk

no no, what happened was he hiccupped. the reason he looked so mad is cuz it happened three or four times the whole song.
he sounds like a kid, it's so fucking strange! in a great way
His voice and lyrics have this traveling effect. The sound engineer could have done better to supplement it.
4:03 wat happen
+Commit thats a great question, im wondering if it had anything to do with drugs at the time, like mind went blank or something happened to his vocal cords.
+Commit It looked like he kinda accidentally hit himself with the microphone by mistake to me a little
I heard it at 3:49 also... Maybe he didn't hit the note like he hoped
+Commit he slipped. It happens to everyone live. Being on tour wears you out man
so u mean he's not perfect?
did he hiccup? he looked so pissed...
Our pictures :I
Crowd ungrateful smh 😒 bro this is freakin Circa Survive
Hes pretty big to be singing like a little boy. Doesnt anybody think this is a little disturbing?
it's beautiful but strange. but you can definitely hear the beauty of it in their acoustic videos.
Jonathan Camacho Silva How in the fuck is this disturbing at all.
that guy´s pretty old and looks like body bouncer and tries to sing like a guy

Jonathan Camacho Silva try A skylit drive
beginning layz like an igloo cave UR%&$$TYFH chizzzzeaa
maybe he got the lyric wrong or he choked out or something

I know this will annoy a few people, but in my humble AND subjective opinion, Coheed can't even compare to this band.
Ant green is getting better overtime but be honest first 3 coheed albums destroy anything circa has ever done. Period.
