Gotta love how the byzantine soundtrack mostly does away with the usual "ominous chanting of doom" trope, instead going full SPANAKOPITAA energy.
Byzantine/Orthodox church music is great, but AOE4 nailed this soundtrack: the Byzantines were more than just pious Christians (it'd be like trying to represent all of Western Europe with *just* Gregorian chant).
the best castle age music in the game
The best aoe4 music. Full stop.

In the heart of every Greek beats the rhythm of the Great Byzantine Empire. In those hard and glorious times when the Greeks were building their God-given Kingdom on earth, every stone, every tile, every fresco was laid with faith, love and hope. It was a time when Byzantium was not just a geographical place, but a symbol of light, enlightenment and spiritual rebirth.
The Byzantine Empire is not only monumental cathedrals where the echoes of prayers drift to the heavens, not only golden vaults and mosaics shimmering with all shades of blue and gold. It is the soul, the heart, the faith. Faith not only in God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, not only in Jesus Christ who came to earth to bring redemption, not only in the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of us all. Greeks also believe in Byzantium. And this faith has not faded even centuries later.
Faith in Byzantium is the highest chord of the Orthodox soul. It is not just a historical legacy or an ancient culture. It is part of the DNA of every Greek. The memory of Byzantium is a sacred spark that continues to burn in the hearts of many, reminding us that Byzantium is not dead. It lives in each of us, in every prayer, in every verse, in every gaze directed toward heaven.
Mother Byzantium, shrouded in the magic of time, calls to her children. She reminds us that history is not just a series of events, it is our heritage, our blood, our soul. The Greeks have not forgotten the times when Byzantium was the pearl of the world, when its walls reflected greatness and wisdom, when its streets were filled with song and prayer.
Let the outside world change, let empires rise and fall, but in the hearts of the Greeks Byzantium will live forever. They are ready to fight, ready to sacrifice, ready to give their lives for the revival of this great empire, because Byzantium is not just a part of history. It is a part of their soul, the source of their faith and an eternal reminder that the Greeks are a chosen people, a great people, a people who carry the light of Orthodoxy through the ages.
Thank you, I really loved it.
Witcher vibes
masterpiece
As a Serb i have so write, that the Rhomeans (Byzantines) were here musically good interpreted, as their music is a decent mixture of Greek, Serbian (Balkano-Slavic), Anatolian and Levantine (Aramo-Arabic) melodies, which creates a joyful manner. This type of music is a good example of successful compilation of many cultures, led by one or two head cultures, managing through their language and mentality. The Rhomeans (Byzantines). 🌿
My family is partially from outside of Constantinople, and grandparents spoke Romaika, medieval Greek, and identified as Romei.
Just a correction, its not a mix of anything, its Greek, end of. Serbian, Anatolian and Arabic culture, music included, are founded on Greek, not the other way around.
@@georgep6495and Greek is founded upon ancient phonecians 😊
@@abdullahelwan405I’m both Greek and Phoenician. Greek music is everywhere in the world.
@@abdullahelwan405??
its impossible to feel negative while listening to this music
The chanting is pretty somber which fits how many problems the nation did IRL.

14:49 what is the lady singing?
Correct me if I'm wrong but it sounds like something along the lines of:
"Δώστε έπαινο στον άγιο - αν έχετε λίγο κρασί"
"Give praise to the saint - if you have some wine"
Both phrases are very fitting for the civ's theme.
@@dwarsmiscvideos4374thank you!

It will happen, and that emperor will be me!
They are using kemenche but transitioning it into balkan folk. Byzantine music must be male solo or choir, or its own very oriental sounding music with kemenche. Dont try to drag it into west
