From a player's standpoint, I am more interested in the tone and feel of that Les Paul, but I actually don't think the finish looks bad. I actually think it's interesting. I just wouldn't want to pay 7 grand for it.
@Trogly, please do a episode about Gary Rossington. He played a slide on an LP better than anyone I ever seen. He deserves the respect. Lynyrd Skynyrd Rocked!

Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center is only about an hour away from me. Paul Reed Smith used to be the repair guy at Chuck Levin's before he started his productions.
I don't mind the 'Half Assed Tea Burst' LP Murphy Aged Custom Shop. For sure the pin stripe makes or breaks the look but which ever one you get it's a unique looking LP.
I tell you what. I recently purchased a newer Epiphone goldtop worn finish and. I really have to say .. it honestly feels like my 92 Les Paul standard Gibson. Ltd edition colours. Fuschia . And I have had many Les Pauls. Epiphone years ago are not what they are today... This thing is fantastic.... It's unbelievable... No joke.. I have been playing for over 45 years... And it honestly feels like my 92.... Can't believe how well this Epiphone is .
I had the Fuscia as well. Sold that one like an idiot and it's somewhere in France. No weight relief and a fine LP.
That guitar is smokin. I guess I am not in agreement with Trogly about too much. Oh no. A differing opinion .
Strangely, I can handle that. Not a problem. This is one of my favorite channels and I enjoy seeing the different guitars on here every night.
If Gibson ever sells guitars with so,so finishes. They should sell them cheaper, so anybody might be able to afford a dream guitar.
It's not ugly at all, but even with the Murphy Lab treatment it's not worth $7,500.
Nor is paying McDonald’s cashiers 20 buck an hour. Most of the upgraded prices the massive amount of labor put into it but I do agree with you

Ice Tea Fade one of the most beautiful and realistic colours for reissues I own 2010 R9 and what makes it stands out when you have the right amount of red fade towards the bottom of the body then it shines and be so realistic type of fade think Joe Perry or Pearl gates recently or page number 2 also the right amount of play in the flame and love it when it’s mineral streaks and flecks 👌
I wonder if they were still learning how to do that fade finish, and muscle memory made one painter start to do a burst around the bottom edge, then go, “wait no!” 😂

If I ran Gibson, I'd be unable to stop laughing, maniacally, at this point. I can totally see the staff meeting on this one...

The dark part of the sunburst looks like the 'Marlo Thomas' pick guard of the J-180. 'That Girl' hairstyle.

I have one of those Sweetwater Smokehouse Burrst Les Paul Classics and I agree the finish is very nice. I took off the pick guard and changed to Kluson tuners.

Meh, half burst looks like a fail. They ran out of paint or something. I prefer balanced finish. On the other hand, "Barney" was looking pretty sexy, never thought I'd say that!! Thanks for the Garage Sale info. ♫

The only thing ugly about the Les Paul is the price. Gibson is insane.

Flash forward 5 years.. Trogly's is trying to find all the different variations of this guitar that he hated, lol.
they need to start wearing gloves when they age the nickel hardware. Natural aging doesn't leave big finger prints like that..when you do the gas aging with vinegar and peroxide touching it during the process leaves those big prints. I have a set of custom buckers that have prints in them too
i actually like the way that looks. very nice fade.

I happen to think Epiphone quality has improved. I have several from 335 to les Paul’s . I know they are not Gibson I have some of them also but I’m impressed by the inspired by Gibson l it me and the higher end ones. If your unlimited in cash you become a snob. But I happen to like them.
Without a doubt they've improved. They're routing and wood work alone is clean and neat and make a $20K artist Gibson whatever look like a $300 Chibson.
Set in a sunny window for a while and it'll look gorgeous over time and become just a subtle dark fade at the top.

Could you imagine doing that and having some UA-camr taint your purchase. A comment about your opinion is one thing but to make it the main heading and focal point of the video is a bit douchey.

I wish it had a dark burst in the book match (under the bridge) fading down. Balance it out better.

Trog, I know you herd of the red eye L.P 59. If not Google it. Back in the day a music store would display guitars in the window. Some reason on the 59s the sunburst would fade in the sun light. I think that was what Mr. Murphy intentions was.

Looks like if Epiphone made a version of that partial burst Class 5 you WYRON'd a few years ago.

i do not like the shape of the dark outline. if it was a teardrop shape with the fade i'd be good with it.

Fret nibs and neck binding in general ruin the feel of the neck imo, closeup @8:39 is a good example
I agree with that. Binding can be ok (depends on the guitar), but I really don't like the feel of nibs either.
It's a lot less smooth feeling than properly finished fret ends.

Trogly, how long do you wait before unboxing a les paul shipped in the winter? Mine is comming tomorrow, and im crazy excited.
I think the idea is okay, going from a tobacco-y burst to a lemon-y burst was the mistake I think, they're basically too far apart to not have it look a bit wonky. Replace either with say a cherry or a honey burst and you could be on for something cool!
My $600 MIK neck-thru Agile 3200 has a tiger eye flame that quite honestly rivals any of those tops shown today. Granted its a veneer on a maple cap, it still makes me giddy anytime I look at it.
So does my Agile AL-3100mcc (also tiger eye flame). It's gorgeous as well. The veneer moves aplenty, depending on the angle of light.
Absolutely great guitars, period. It's a bit on the heavy side, but I don't mind it. It IS solid, after all.
Is yours a bit heavy too?

@@raytorvalds3699 Before buying the 3200 I had only ever played the set neck models. The 3200 has really blown me away. I've sold all my other Agiles after some time, but the 3200 is my #1 and not going anywhere. I can say for certain if you like the 3100 you will love the 3200!

I think it's a combination of the wood and the painter, some of the regular USA models can look like turds when others look great, same colour/finish, clearly visibly on Sweetwater.

Sgt. Grinch I bet they sound badass with those EMG pickups. I remember one time seeing a guy playing one that was a friend of a friend of mine and he had one, it was beautiful and from what I remember it was pretty mean sounding!

As far as arcade buttons, 24mm is probably the size you're referring to. Looks like dude stuck a 30mm in there. Seimitsu branded buttons would work too.. They're pretty much the same as Sanwa, at from a video gaming perspective.
The Firebird X looks bitchin in my opinion. Also I like the LOOKS of some of the Robot Pauls.... I just hate thel robot tuners with a passion . I would junk the 'bot' tuners and install Grover Locking tuners. Great video.

Hey, some Epiphones do look better than their counterparts. I have an Epiphone les Paul black beauty that is set up in such a way that no Gibson custom shop in the world can touch it.

I concur, that is an ugly Les Paul, however, the others with the same finish were much better looking. I really liked the fire mist finish, and the green metallic finish, and the tangerine burst looked pretty tasteful too.
