    Great tutorial! Thanks for sharing about your special method.
    I use an ink pen and there are some very fine tips that will fit in your lines without pushing so hard.
    My secret weapon is gold or silver ink! It is shiny and dries like a metal finish in the lines.

    Yep you're not the only one who had problem with that panel line pen. Lately I've used a 000 brush and felt it's more comfortable.

    • @GunplaNewbie

      Yeah. Looking back, I might advice against but some have gotten good results with it. Perhaps on a wider panel line then there's less risk of damaging a line.

    I just recently purchased the same ink and pen to do some panel lining! Do u use the same panel line paint for air brush or is there a different type of paint? I Just recently started getting into pane lining/ custom some figures mostly transformers And your video is help! Thanks

    • @GunplaNewbie
      @GunplaNewbie  3 роки тому +2

      I use the same type of tamiya enamel accent panel line paint to airbrush wide panel lines. But for main painting, I use lacquer paints. Be careful though, I'm not sure what type of paints are used on the figures and transformers. The enamel thinner might dissolve it.

    • @GunplaNewbie
      @GunplaNewbie  4 роки тому +1

      Yeah, that's why I recommend gloss coating before panel lining and decal..that will protect the kit, allowing smoother flow of panel line paint and decals. It will also give you a smooth finish

    great video! i was just starting to learn detailing, this is a great help. btw, do i need to coat my kit before applying tamiya accent line? i've read it helps to protect the plastic to avoid being brittle in the future.

    • @GunplaNewbie

      Hey thanks. If it's bare plastic then I would recommend that you top coat it first. Because it happened to mine. I figured some plastic are more prone to brittle or even crack.

    Is a Gundam pen still good to use for panel lining ?

    • @GunplaNewbie
      @GunplaNewbie  4 роки тому +2

      Assuming you meant Gundam markers. A lot of people do use gundam markers to panel line. However, I've never personally used it. But I did use Micron fine tipped pens as thin as 0.15mm. Even then, it's still not "fine" or "thin" enough for some panel lines. Even if it fits the panel line, I often find the finish not as fine or clean as the tamiya accent panel line method.
      I hope this answers your question.

      Yeah, I think the pen works on bigger kits but not very effective when used on thin/fine lines.

  • @ulrika8198
    @ulrika8198 Рік тому +1

    Might be too late and you have already found the answer, but the 'cracks' or 'dots' you see whenever you panel line with the fountain pen might not be from the fountain pain itself, but from the panel scribing chisels. I was watching several scribing tutorials and chisel reviews and I saw that using cheap scribing chisels might crack the plastic when you pass it instead of doing clean lines. It happened to me with a newer kit(Aerial).
    Update:
    My bad, I didn't see you're using BMC so yeah, the case I explained wasn't it. Maybe trying another fountain pen like Dspiae? I saw good reviews of it.
