If you think inflation is hurting fast food chains what do you think it's done to the middle class? It destroyed them. There is no middle class today and families cant afford $40 or $50 for cardboard burgers and oversalted fries plus a drink.
It's not the salt. It's the poisonous seed oils they fry them in. When they stopped frying in tallow, everyone began getting fat and sick. Haven't you noticed?
Socialist/Marxism had to break the middle class because their cash flow funded the entire madhouse. Wait until the "Entitled Victims" get cut-off from their UBI or whatever they're using to suck off the system because there's no middle-class to prop it up, anymore. Eventually, if you want to be healthy, you'll HAVE to do that. I did a couple years back and lost 40 lbs (only meant to lose 30 but got in the habit of eating far less), and greatly improved my metabolism. For 40+ years I ate fast food because it was both cheap and convenient and I was busy. But it's no longer cheap (or even reasonable) for most fast food, and being retired really changes the "busy" picture.
You guys are missing the whole point. The economy is doing very bad and getting worse. If everyone starts cooking at home like you say, grocery stores will be next to start closing. While government grocery stores will be popping up and you can't buy without a chip.
Same, I cut out fast food and all processed foods. I still want certain things but not being able to understand the ingredients drove me crazy. I’ve noticed a weight difference and I’ve been on a better fitness journey, I didnt care for “fast food” anyways
A Wendy's in walking distance from my place has closed. I could tell that at least one homeless person has begun living near one of its side entrances. Two Family Dollar stores in close proximity have closed, one within walking distance. Something is coming, folks. Be ready.

We certainly do NOT need McDonalds! I hope the greedy fast food outlets all go out of business. The world will be a better place to live in without that constant greed!!!
Greedy? They aren't getting rich running these. Their wages and food costs have skyrocketed. High prices for everything have severely affected my plan. I'm concerned if people who went through the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time than I am having now. The stock market is worrying me as my income has decreased, and I fear I won't have enough savings for retirement since I can't contribute as much as before.
It's recommended to save at least 20% of your income in a 401k. You can use online calculators to estimate how much you should save based on your age and income. Saving at least 20% of your income in a 401(k) can help ensure that you have enough money to retire comfortably. By saving this much, you can take advantage of investing in the stock market and potentially grow your retirement savings over time.
It's often true that people underestimate the importance of financial advisors until they feel the negative effects of emotional decision-making. I remember a few summers ago, after a tough divorce, when I needed a boost for my struggling business. I researched and found a licensed advisor who diligently helped grow my reserves despite inflation. Consequently, my reserves increased from $275k to around $750k.

It's just a way of life here and it's not in California, west coast, east coast including Florida or Texas. Real American is where most people wouldn't think of moving to. Two years ago I left CA. Best move I ever made. No bar codes on most of my food only spices and a few other items. I grew up with family dinners. Nobody went to a restaurant, it was too expensive in the 60's for us. Chinese food was kinda affordable for once in a while for some people. Then came fast food joints. It changed everybody's life. The science of making it taste good, better than all those untrained cooks raising a family. So everyone quit mom's food forever. Chef's and kids cooking at fast food took over. People went because with no family at the table it was too lonely and too much kitchen work to eat at home. The junk food industry increased people's appetites. Food obscession was everywhere and everyone got fat avoiding the kitchen at home. Kids loved it and hated home cooked meals. Flavor and ingredients designed for addiction, took over appetites. Now everyone is fat all because they opened up a junk food industry that was part of destroying families.
Same here. Mom normally cooked, and we went out OCCASIONALLY and it was a TREAT -- both for mom having a night off cooking, and us for a change of pace. I think the rarity of single earner families had a big influence in eliminating much of home cooking.
We have massively overbuilt restaurants and fast food. Some of these old chains have been on life support for over a decade and need to just die off. The problem is even if you eat at home it isn't exactly a low cost option either. Even in the express line 10 items or less it can easily run you 100 bucks now lol.
Let me guess -- in your world, the earth is flat and vaccines are wildly dangerous. You can get LOTS of healthy food very reasonably at a typical grocery store, if you don't insist on Organic, fancy brands, or expensive meat, for example.
Yes, good point, @HayW. But, just cook in bulk where the money goes further. Trust me -- its many times cheaper to eat at home ... probably something like 1/5 to 1/10 of eating out.

McDonald’s is a place that you really never plan on going to…your just sort of end up there! Who really wakes up and says.. “I want to go to McDonald’s today!” No one I know. Now that prices are ridiculous, it may no longer be a place that we end up at. Boycott ridiculous prices everyone!
McDonald's is a reality company. They make their money from rent paid to them from owner operators which makes up tof 80% of stores. Store owners pay them 20 % of income on rent, around 20-25% to staff then there is food cost, utilities, insurance, etc. Really one store doesn't make that big of a profit. So yes when wages go up the profit goes down. Think of it like this. Say you make about 2000 A month and after you pay out everything you are banking only 10% of what you make.
Every time that I go into McDonald’s, the prices have been increased, so I go in there less often now. I might stop in for breakfast once every two months. Lately, I’ve been making my own coffee for traveling in the car. My relatives try to get me to go to Starbucks. Sorry, too expensive.
The real kicker for me is McDonald's advertise on their drive thru menus a "$1,2,3 dollar menu".... Restaurants are closing down because people has no more money to spend. But at the same time so many corporations are posting record profits. Why, because they paid well their CEOs but not their regular employees.
Restaurant business is rotten in north america, the prices are too high, the food quality is very low and the stupid tipping culture is getting out of hand. I just came back from vacations in Italy and all the restaurant were doing well. The food quality was high, the prices were very good and most of all, no tipping culture. Christ! I hate at a gas station at Ceglie Messapica, for 10 euro they filled my plate with sausages, pasta, chicken parmesan, green vegetables and i got a beer for 3,5 euro, and they were like are sure you don't want more on your plate? And I was like, no thanks that's plenty for me, I still have to cycle up to Alberobello. They had a full kitchen in a gas station! Same when I went to Japan, most restaurant were small family own places with good food, reasonable prices and no tipping culture.
Very well said. Franchises add an extra layer of bureaucracy. Tipping is out of hand. Restaurant employees refuse to work for a reasonable rate. That needs to change because consumers simply will not pay what they are asking.
The problem started with the convenience of Door Dash. Sounds like a plus, but without customers in the restaurant, there's no need for servers, no tips, no deserts, no beverages, and NO ALCOHOL sales.
He’s not lying, when I needed a part time job, I would apply to restaurants and I would literally get a job within a day or two. This was about 1.5-2 years ago. I tried doing the same and now, no one is hiring. Keep in mind I used to get interviews same day I would submit an application.

As an outsider I have got reports from many Americans for almost a year who have told me about this storm of restaurants bankruptcy that is sweeping across the country. Not only the restaurants are closing down but the supermarkets are getting emptier and companies are shortening working weeks just to keep their heads above water by reducing expenses. This scenario has been expected as the usa government has no structural plan to stimulate the economy, but doing the opposite by increasing import tariffs which will trigger inflation again.

I think part of the problem is the entire concept of chain restaurants. If I eat at a local mom and pop the money stays local. It pays the owner, the cooks, and the wait staff. Eating at a chain the money is local and then there are stockholders and upper managment that have to get paid also. There are just too many needing to get paid from the price of meals without raising prices to the point it isn't worth it anymore.

Good people will live longer without restaurants and be more fit
McDonald's tried the $5 meal but their franchisees REFUSED to sell it because it was a net loss for each one sold.
If all these bubble restaurants folds, I will NOT starve. In fact the fewer restaurants open, the less likelihood my money leaves my pocket.
Inflation is not just hitting the restaurants and fast food chains. Inflation is hitting everywhere.
I live in a small town. The McDonalds charges $17 for a 20 piece nugget, large fry and no drink. I can buy a steak for $10 at the grocery store down the street.
Thank you biden
Elect Trump and he will promise 99 cent Big Macs for all Deplorables !
Restaurants are closing down because people has no more money to spend. But at the same time so many corporations are posting record profits.
Why, because they paid well their CEOs but not their regular employees.
Fast food wages are the highest they've ever been. That's a big part of the reason franchisees can barely make a profit.
Potatoes are the cheapest food grown and sell 10 pounds for $3 yet somehow McDonalds manages to get us to pay $3.89 for 4 oz.
@@e-man2081 Yes, heaven forbid people don't want to work for a "reasonable" rate.

Amen 100%
These people can't "cook at home" unless it's microwavable. They would burn oatmeal...
The problem started with the convenience of Door Dash. Sounds like a plus, but without customers in the restaurant, there's no need for servers, no tips, no deserts, no beverages, and NO ALCOHOL sales.
We don't need restaurants to eat. In fact if they stop devouring the resources, we may eat better cheaper
He’s not lying, when I needed a part time job, I would apply to restaurants and I would literally get a job within a day or two. This was about 1.5-2 years ago. I tried doing the same and now, no one is hiring. Keep in mind I used to get interviews same day I would submit an application.

Too bad for the student teens, they kind of rely on restaurant jobs, for pocket money/savings.
They can go to Job Corps and gete pocket change (in the form of a stipend) while they are earning a vocational certificate.

You mean those sloths that rang up a big student loan debt, that got transferred to the taxpayers? No one cares.
The upside is that Americans will be a lot healthier eating at home
As an outsider I have got reports from many Americans for almost a year who have told me about this storm of restaurants bankruptcy that is sweeping across the country. Not only the restaurants are closing down but the supermarkets are getting emptier and companies are shortening working weeks just to keep their heads above water by reducing expenses. This scenario has been expected as the usa government has no structural plan to stimulate the economy, but doing the opposite by increasing import tariffs which will trigger inflation again.
If restaurants are closing and supermarkets are emptier, why are we all so overweight?
@@les0101s hahaha, according to a documentary the “obesity” is caused by a virus in hamburgers and “fast food”. These viruses do not die when the meat is fried on hot plates. But, your observation is correct that Americans tend to be obese. However, this “American disease” is not caused by too much eating but by viruses. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
When you have just a handful of companies controlling 70-80% of the food supply, you get price hikes and record profits for those companies. And that's exactly what we're seeing in the U.S. right now.
With these Restaurants their prices are rising, customer service is horrible and the Food is getting worse and worse! I will be Cooking at Home if I can help it!
Yep. I found the recipe to make my chipotle stuff at home!
They shrink portions and raised prices!
Lack of fast food simply dosnt affect my life, so no starving here!
Exactly. Clickbait title. Just like the clowns who are economic doomers and claim things like "mass starvation" in the US for decades. Meanwhile in the real world, all sorts of food assistance for the poor, lots and lots of grocery stores with lots of food of all types, etc.
Grocery store dining has also cut into restaurants. people still eat out but get the precooked food at the grocery stores.
The food quality has gone down tremendously due to merchants switching to cheaper products, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve eaten out in the last few years and said hey, I can do this better
But I want someone I don't know and can't even see cooking my dinner!! And I want to be waited on by people having to hustle or be fired!! And I don't want to clean up!!! And I want wine and cheesecake!!!
Now!!!
Most have been having trouble for over 18 years, how could anyone be surprised?

We've been falling into the slippery slope from the time of the 2008 decline. And prior to this, the market crashed in 1998. Many folks in that time had to refinance and or live on their credit cards to make payments while quickly seeking another job position. Once you lose a job and out of work for over six months, it is damn near impossible to return to being on top of your bills.
The American empire is witnessing its end.
@@Lady_A.R yeah because 08 wasn't really the crash, it was an announcement that there was a problem.

Why just yesterday I texted all the kids on their smartphones about how we need to cut back.
