Dan pls dont cut into the frame until you decide what to do with all the electronics, and what suspension is available. Dont want to put yourself in a corner.
That's awesome man I love you DIY garage videos idk how you come up with these ideas but that rear fender is coming out pretty dope! Love the look man it makes the magna look so aggressive now 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Invest in a mig welder/bottle setup. Miller or Lincoln 110v would be perfect. Also make sure you clean your metal beforehand. Play with the heat/wire speed as well. You can make fluxcore welds look good, you just need practice. Also, as long as your penetration (giggity) is fine, you can grind down the welds to make them look better.
Sounds great, re-positioning that suspension and lowering the bike, but when you put it at an even leaner angle doesnt that hinder the function of the suspension?
I know this is an older video, and while I hate the "buzz box" welders they are great for light duty. Flux core doesn't have the "gas" inside the wire, its literally flux. Much like solder has rosin core or flux core. When you strike the arc to weld and the filler material melts the flux melts and chemically cleans the surface of the two parts and is then burned off. At this point the weld puddle (the molten weld metal) sinks to the joint and contaminants broken loose by the flux rise to the top to protect the weld as it cools. The result if any becomes slag, which should be cleaned off with a slag hammer (if necessary) and wire brush before laying another bead. I've been welding for years, (took welding/machining through high school) and worked building train cars for a few years, So if you have any questions or need to know welding related stuff hit me up.
I wanted to see the thing finished.. Is it finished? I had the same idea with the armor looking fender but... I thought of using buckets for material lol... I'd love to see it and I can't find a vid or pics
Dan if you change the shock geometry it will change the ride drastically at that angle. And have to make stoppers so the swing arm doesn't cam over the shock . Just a thought . But really good idea.
Hey Dan, do you know any cameras that you would recommend for motovlogging, cause i was looking at the contour roam 3 but the sound quality when riding is terrible, and the gopro has better sound quality but its a lot more noticeable and bigger profiled than the roam.
Dan I admire you visions for the bike and the how you have all these things thought through and knowing exactly what you want to do, buuuuut I think your are biting off more then you can chew brother! Lol especially when your talking about cutting the frame lol Please be careful when it comes to that the Magna is a bad ass bike DON'T RUIN IT lol and again with the frame make sure it is safe what you are doing so it won't give out on you and you take a spill. don't want to see/hear about you falling.
Hey man, to convert the rear brake to a disc you gotta get a master cylinder that will work with your foot pedal first, then worry about the calliper, but basically after that all you'd have to do is put the new wheel in where it's gonna be with a disc on it, then you're gonna wanna measure up the calliper to where it'll work and be safe, then weld some threaded brackets to the swingarm and then you're sorted really
I'm not an expert on spring angle but it's my understanding the steeper the angle the more weight is required to compress it, so if your springs are rated at 100lbs vertical, it'd be 200lbs at 45 degrees.. something to think about
I like your videos! You won't want to weld your frame with flux wire.. if you cut it, you can still mock everything up, but take it to a fabricator to properly weld it.
You should cover up those gaps or when you're riding water and rocks will sky out the gaps and chip the paint on the second and third piece if you're planning to paint it which I assume. Just my idea.
+Ty U. This one is a late 1990's early 2000's version. The only style they made this generation was a classic cruiser type running a 750cc V4. I was so close to getting one if these and I still wish I had! There very nice! As far as what you were talking about, the earlier bikes had a V65, V45 an a V40 if I remember correctly. the old V65 was the fastest production vehicle in 1983
Dan is there a motorcycle school near you? I wanna move down there I need a job first but this will be in 3 or 4 years though till o make enough money to move down there
You're missing the welding gun tip? Not the tip that the flux comes out of but the larger tip dome that goes over that. I have the same welder and it helps with shitty welds ;p
i dont know how you would convert to a rear disk without using a different wheel with a hub already designed for a disk. Once you find the right wheel that will fit its just a job of figuring out how the caliper will integrate. the easiest thing might actually end up being a swingarm swap complete with wheel/hub/brakes. The other end of the spectrum may be getting your hands on another drum plate... and modding it it for ducting cooling air in and out. they did that on the early race bikes. looked killer to me. you might even find a way to fab up something that would complement the rest of your build. you wouldnt have to worry about whether or not its going to fit or work, either.
bro, turn that thing into a street tracker not a bobber. hard tailing it will ruin the ride . all you need to get is the seat and modify the seat frame.
I haven't seen many videos... But you are fucking hilarious man... I remember the first video I saw... Subbed withing the first 7 seconds. No joke. You are awesome!
instead of building a battery box you could get the miniature Heineken kegs that they sell and use that because that would look sweeeeeet and be super original if you could make it work. Just a suggestion though ahaha
You should get rid of the gas tank for weight reduction
We know your go-pro didn't die last video dan!!
fender looks like a replica of the Sydney Opera House +Do It With Dan
I wouldn't cut that frame.... If your going to reweld it with flux
YOUR STILL ON YOUR CHANNEL?!
+Reese Wyand he said he was quitting motovlogging.
+3DMachines if i were him i would first get the same frame and fuck that one up and learn what not to do.
+Devil Dog +1
You should keep making videos. You've come a long way, and a lot of people love your content
Dan pls dont cut into the frame until you decide what to do with all the electronics, and what suspension is available. Dont want to put yourself in a corner.
Damn that fender looks bad ass!!! It's incredible you know how to do all that.
This is awesome. Props to your DIY skills, man.

Liking what you are doing with the magna keep up the great work with your videos.

Black exhaust wrap for those long pipes on that bike would look mean as hell..
Keep up the work man!

Dan I got the perfect shocks for dropping the bike. Should work well.
some good ideas as I'm currently doing the same to my bike but I havnt recorded any of my progress as I need full concentration
I love that the CBR is wearing your Sombrero
looking good dan im also a dan love these garage built projects you make
Can't wait to see what else is in store
I wanted to see the thing finished.. Is it finished? I had the same idea with the armor looking fender but... I thought of using buckets for material lol... I'd love to see it and I can't find a vid or pics
sick!!!
where did you get that license plate mount/brake light?
Dan if you change the shock geometry it will change the ride drastically at that angle. And have to make stoppers so the swing arm doesn't cam over the shock . Just a thought . But really good idea.
I KNOW WE ALL KNOW IT WAS ON TWD BUT I WANTED TO SAY IJUST SAW IT ON THE PREVIEW TO NEXT HALF OF THE SEASON CONGRATS DAN!!!!!!
yeah that's cool his bike was on twd I checked and the licence plate is the same too
+Blake Wiederhold he hinted towards it being on the walking dead
When
+Blake Wiederhold when he first got the magna back before he washed it
I've been watching you since 25k
This is your favorite bike? Why?
He's had it for a while and it's overall I nice bike
+Delloiacono I guess it sentimental to him now then :)
Yeah exactly, btw love your vids :)
+Delloiacono thanks bro :D
It's badass that's why?

something to think about
DAN, the bike looks great and all especially with the rear fender, but I feel like it doesn't match the rest of the bike though
I like your videos! You won't want to weld your frame with flux wire.. if you cut it, you can still mock everything up, but take it to a fabricator to properly weld it.
hey Dan, did you ever release the video from when the magna got all dirty? i know it was a secret if i remember correctly.
You need to put a wrapped short exhaust, that would look epic!
Okay, have a nap. THEN FIRE ZE MISSILES!
You should shorten the exhaust, different frame, match the metal on exhaust and cover the gaps, and that new tail piece will look sick
Only you dan would upload a video in the middle of the night lol
Right so the flux capacitor in the go pro ran out...
hey Dan you could just remove your swing arm and try fab a old dirt bike swing arm to fit the magna
You should cover up those gaps or when you're riding water and rocks will sky out the gaps and chip the paint on the second and third piece if you're planning to paint it which I assume. Just my idea.
Driving that sweet camaro in the Hollywood hills?
That rear fender is looking amaaaaazing. I'm assuming it's going to be blaaaaaaaaaack (couldn't resist the MCM) in the future?
Dan, that looks like one of them real boy bikes.
That looks bad ass Dan
Are you gonna paint that tail black??
+Ben Mitchell No, he is gonna paint it hot pink :)
+Ben Mitchell No, he is gonna paint it hot pink :)
No, he is gonna paint it hot pink :)
+Ben Mitchell No, he is gonna paint it hot pink :)
+Ben Mitchell No, he is gonna paint it hot pink :)
Dan I think it will look a bit better if you put on a fourth fin. love the bike though I'm sure it will come out looking rrrrreeeal nice
Dan were did the magna go that you couldn't tell us
How many CC's is the Magna?
my memory is bad but, there were multiple displacements i think. v45, v75, and something else, i'm guessing this is the 750
+Ty U. This one is a late 1990's early 2000's version. The only style they made this generation was a classic cruiser type running a 750cc V4. I was so close to getting one if these and I still wish I had! There very nice!

+Cody Armstrong ah I'm sorry, at least I got the 750 part lol
Dan is there a motorcycle school near you? I wanna move down there I need a job first but this will be in 3 or 4 years though till o make enough money to move down there
Dan why did you just turn the bike around the other way so you didn't have to keep walking to the back..
I think the magma is really front heavy but it's your bike and if you like it then the bike is great
You're missing the welding gun tip? Not the tip that the flux comes out of but the larger tip dome that goes over that. I have the same welder and it helps with shitty welds ;p
dan do you know the rider meddes? if yes what do you think about him?
hey im wondering how you did a shaft to chain conversion on this ..... i just got an 85 750 magna and am wanting to do a chain conversion
Dan has a 3rd gen magna which are chain driven.
i dont know how you would convert to a rear disk without using a different wheel with a hub already designed for a disk. Hey what happened to the cbr 600 it's not in the garage
you a member of v4musclebike forum? they look like a great place to get into on v65's
Which specific Magna does dan have?
MMMMMMMMMMM good job looks better than the last one Hi from Australia
You should paint the exhaust black it would look nice but up to you.
Dont cut the frame, Its designed like that for a reason lol
so what show was the magna in?
Were the Hell is the Nozzle on you Lead???
I enjoy watching these! They are, as you would say, le chill? haha
videos where you custom make things like this are the best I think. it would be super cool if you had like a 100% custom crafted bike
where is the copper to the welding gun?
with your talent with this stuff dan, you should look into tig welding. Boc mma welding machines are capable of tig and they aren't expensive
oh baby that black hood on the camero!!!
Is that motor 90 degree angle?
if its got slag drag when you weld mate
wait I missed it what was his bike on
Hey dan i love your vids bit when you weld you need to get the gun closer to the methal so its less cheese and less spatter
Greetings from holland
Why do you tap with the welder?
changing the drum is pretty simple. I did pretty easily. Just look up a video and it will show you.
Dan, it's 1:30 AM here. Y u do dis
Dan thanks for the vids makes me want to mod my 86 rebel 450 keep up the awasome videos
Try blue suspension coils and red seat
can we please start a go fund me for Dan to get some proper metal working equipment? I'm talking metal benders good hammers? also maybe an anvil...
go ahead
and some welding lessons
+Twist3DArmory #savage
Should get a gas kit for the welder makes a lot batter and cleaner welds
When he falls of the seat and lands on the spike I will cry
bro, turn that thing into a street tracker not a bobber. hard tailing it will ruin the ride . all you need to get is the seat and modify the seat frame.
the original rear fender looked so much better ;D
I LOVE THE CAMARO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
where do i know this music from
what helmet do you have bro
she's looking good man.
That looks nice 👌👌
Where did u get that hat!!!!!!
I'm to much of a pansy to chop my bike up and customize it myself
Don't be a pansy then.
I haven't seen many videos... But you are fucking hilarious man... I remember the first video I saw... Subbed withing the first 7 seconds. No joke. You are awesome!
its lookin good man!
wait a minute, that's the same tag that was on the magna when you got it back months ago...
you might wanna unhook your batteries when welding on your bike because the current will fuck a lot of electrical shit up
I've got the exact same welding helmet
you should put tail light in the fender
So was the magna on the walking dead?
instead of building a battery box you could get the miniature Heineken kegs that they sell and use that because that would look sweeeeeet and be super original if you could make it work. Just a suggestion though ahaha
Dan are you going to take the Magna to the Halloween meetup?
In my backyard here, a lot of you have been using for a tour of my house, here in the bevearly hills with only $47 to my bank account.
If you're burning holes, turn down the power a bit.
Screw the Tai Lopez ads, that was gold though lol
