- The running kit that we choose to use when it comes to racing is important but when that race is 100 miles on a challenging section of Cornish coast path in the depths of winter, it becomes very important! In this episode we take an in-depth look at all the kit and gear I've chosen to help me get through this EPIC winter ultra marathon, the Arc of Attrition.
Thanks for watching, we'll see you in the next video and as always - stay safe and keep on running!

Oh mate 😢 gutted for you. I hope you are ok physically and just need rest and recoup. Mentally I can’t imagine how it must feel. Take care of yourself and anyone who toes that start line has my utter respect ✊ We’re all thinking of you and see you when you feel up to a video. ❤️
Late to this party but just wanted to say thank you for the tip of having a small hand held torch in your kit. Got one and used it in the CCC last week when it got dark about 10 minutes before I reached the aid station at Champex. Meant I didn’t have to stop to get my head torch out on the move and made it safely to the aid station where I could sort myself out properly for the night. I know it helped the runner in front of me too!
That's great! A small hand torch is definitely a really handy thing to carry in these longer races, mines got me out of trouble quite a few times. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment it's appreciated 🙏😊
Great kit list video, some good stuff in there. Going to watch live feed and tracker now.
I can listen to Loyd say "Geelay" all day!
Just seen you and John go through Porthleven CP earlier. Looking strong 👍💪
Love dot watching. All the best!! Such an inspiration 😃
Good luck on the race. Glad to see you're at least packing tights!
Thanks for the recommendation on the Exodus Ultra; you were instrumental in me buying a pair (and for some reason they're cheaper in Japan), and the only chain selling them out here has them on sale right now, so I snagged another 2 pairs.
Have fun out there, and keep on smiling, especially through the suck.
Best of lucks!
Love the Fenix HM65-RT heatorch. I bought it after watching your review. It is like having a car headlight attached to your head. Fantastic!
Pity away on holiday for the week really was looking forward to dot watching and helping any runners from my little camper from maybe a horth cliff carpark ,good luck
Enjoy the run stay safe :)
Finding the right running underwear has been such a gamechanger for me :) It's actually very important for us women, too ;) and surely, the right gloves are so so important!
Happily dot watching as this video popped up! Keep putting one foot in front of the other and best of luck. The weather Gods are being kind this year so make the most of it (just typical that when the weather’s good I had to withdraw from the Arc50 due to buggered Achilles!!)
PS…. I’ve used Darn Tough socks for years since buying a pair whilst skiing in Vermont some years back, they are great running/hiking socks available in different lengths/styles and they give a lifetime guarantee!
I’ll be dot watching for sure! 👊
Sorry to see the retirement, looking forward to hearing about what went wrong but more importantly hope you're okay
Need to do some shopping ready for next year. And some training and rebuilding of course. 😂 come back stronger 💪
We'll definitely come back stronger next year mate 🏃♂️🏃♂️💪
Gutted for John and yourself for the DNF! How often have you told me about the difficulties of nutrition on a run. The ARC is a proper monster and I'm sure you'll both be back and conquer any demon! Cheers R
Cheers Roland 👍
It's a shame we didn't get to see you at St Ives. I'll definitely be coming back next year and I'll make sure it's a very different outcome 😊 Thanks for the support mate 🙏
nice video as always. I use OMM mittens as I find warmer than gloves when really cold
Great to run with you for a while :) really enjoyed hearing about the halloween videos. Thanks for the videos and all your words of advice and support throughout this series. Sy from Swansea :)
Great to meet you out on the route and thanks for watching and supporting the channel, its really appreciated Sy 🙏😊
Like for Loyd and¡¡¡¡ Good luck!!!!!. A nice saturday for everyone.¡¡¡¡ The run is freedom!!!!!
Love to know the retail value of all this kit combined... running can be a cheap or expensive sport.
The commandos are simply awesome. Use them for all my long long runs especially when it’s getting wet or hot. And for all my ultras of course!
Best of luck out there!!!
I don't see a waterproof socks there. You have a bad experience of using these ? Looks like conditions are perfect for use ones though...
I'm definitely not a fan of waterproof socks! I personally think you are much better off getting you feet wet rather than running in socks that can't breath 👍
@@Run4Adventure but do you still able to keep feet worm when socks are wet? For me personal, frozen feet are the worst during long runs.
@@wojtekkos341 I wear merino wool socks when it's wet and they seem to handle wet conditions well 👍
@@Run4Adventure need to try ones soon, thanks!
I realise this was 11 months ago, but does anyone know what the red Fenix light is called? I can’t seem to find it sadly
Here’s a link to the light -

@@Run4Adventure Thank you!
hope all is well, I think this was your A race? so must have been something major to make you stop.
Looking forward to find out more in your next video and hope you are ok.
I'm good thanks 👍
Obviously disappointed with the outcome but there's more great races to focus on this year 😊
Thanks for watching and supporting the channel, its really appreciated 🙏
Looks like you dropped. Hope all is OK.
