    EEEEEEEEEE...SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!🎉🎉🎉💖🌟💖🌟! You won't be waiting for mature leaves nor sizing up. Holy Arial roots! It's obviously happy in that peat mix, so I wouldn't stress atp. Let her settle in as part of your family. 🥰. I was recently given a huge crazy Monstera from a woman at my husband's work. She was outgrowing the office, tons of arials and going in all different directions. She came with new cedar wood stakes, plastic coated steel garden plant stakes, strips of cut up black tights🤣😂,a bag of microfiber gloves (???) and a note. Kim, I bought stakes for her, so here they are. The gloves were for dusting my mini blinds but found them great for dusting my beloved girl. She has outgrown my office, have no room to even get around her to stake and try to create some order to the chaos of her. Please love her. ❤️. He got her home, she is also in a peaty mix. We washed and sprayed her as you have. I used the coated steel stakes to organize her a bit. I love them, perfect to make moss poles out of. Just waiting for her to settle in and see where she prefers to be and what way which branches/vibes will decide to go. The arials are nuts but, decided to just wait a bit and will focus repotting/separating and poles after she settles.
    I LOVE that a Silver Sword is back in your life!!! CONGRATULATIONS 🎉🎉🎉! 🥰🤩😍😘💓

    A tip for finding thrips is to use the flashlight from underneath the leaves and shining upwards through the leaf. That way you should be able to see the small black elongated dots. I've tried that when I thought had thrips and still wasn't able to see them and confirm it until I used this method.

    The look on your face while you're holding her in the store in the B roll footage 🥺❤ I'm so happy for you, Fern
    Apparently also I need to spend more time on Instagram.
    As to your question, I would personally get some (preferably cedar) garden stakes and use one per plant. When you repot it, you can situate them all to face the same way, if needed and/or wanted. The garden stakes are thicker than the ones you usually find for indoor plants, so they provide a stronger support but are smaller than using planks

    AHHHHHH IM SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!
    I feel like this guy is happy af without climbing anything, I would try not to disturb it at all. Maybe use some bamboo stakes to prop it if it needs help. This looks like its growing like a monstera delicious without a pole and it looks soooo jungle-y, I love it! The grower may have used this to take cuttings from for awhile, which would train it to grow in a more bushy way, it may not even try to climb.

    I'd be inclined to jettison the candles, books etc and use the wooden crate to place a plant on it and break up the uniform pots at floor level. I'd also use thick bamboo poles as stakes. The glaucous leaves and honey tones of bamboo would sing imo!!

    I got a decently large monstera deliciosa climbing by purchasing wood lattice at Home Depot for $15. Had the man at the store cut it down to 2ft wide 6ft tall. Bought some 1inch wooden cubes (children’s blocks) at Hobby Lobby. Screwed the lattice onto the wood blocks (at the edges of the lattice), then put Command Strips on the back of the wood blocks and attached it to my wall. Then I tied the plant to the lattice with plant velcro (there is space behind the lattice to tie it thanks to the wood blocks). Unsure if this will work for you considering how bushy your plant is, but thought I’d let you know my experience in case it helps in any way.
    Congrats on the plant! :)

    So happy for you! I think it would benefit from a plant stand or something to bring it up off the floor, and I like the trellis idea. Being a renter, maybe you could put the trellis on a piece of wood and lean that up against the wall. FYI: When you said dream plant then said Silver Sword I was quite confused. I looked at the date 🤔she has a Silver Sword already...then I heard what happened, must've missed that one. Bad when you know your faves collections so well. That is MASSIVE and beautiful, just like it's Mama. You could name it Gaynor for 🎶 "I will survive" 🎶...lol. 🪴💚

  • @Empress_Moth
    @Empress_Moth 2 роки тому

    I don't know if you noticed but she actually has some flowers growing in too! they were visible around 11:35. And for its size I'd honestly just use a large wooden stake and wrap with your velcro-tape. The added nutrients a moss pole provides to the plant via the aerials could really get this plant growing quick and I know you only have so much height to work with in your place loll. Good luck whatever you decide to do!

    I would definitely use a wood steak like a 2x2 and attach it the same way you do a moss pole. That way it can grow all the way up it. My adansonii is on one as apposed to a moss pole and it loves it! I pole that big would require lots of moss and very frequent watering.

    Regarding the moss pole issue, I just think I would use bamboo sticks for support and then air layer separately every single node because I think it would drive me crazy fitting all of those giant plants on a pole. I thing you can trick a plant just by having her supported and having aerial roots growing into something.

  • @Iheardyoulikeplants
    @Iheardyoulikeplants 2 роки тому

    What a great find! I have a similarly sized jungle boogie, and it came with a 2 inch round wood stake in the middle of it and the vines climb it all on their own now. I'm sure it was tied to the pole when it was small at the greenhouse, but now I don't have to train it up, it just knows what to do. My humidity is about 60% in the winter, and then drops to about 20 in the summer, and it still sticks. It doesn't grow arial roots in the summer, but that doesn't seem to make much difference as far as it growing upwards and the leaves staying a mature size. I hope this helps some!

    For your question about staking up the hastatum, I was thinking you could use maybe a tomato trellis since it goes all the way around the plant and can support all the vines? Or when you repot you could separate each individual plant and train it up a grape trellis (or whatever the tall triangle trellis’ are called lol) and have a wall of silver sword! Or a huge moss plank lol
    Whatever you decide to do I’m sure will work out great :D

    I am so tired of my silver sword. Ever since I first bought it has been giving me problems: leaves yellowing much faster than usual, then falling off and some sticky substance all over the stems. I just cut the whole thing off and discarded both the pot and the soil/roots and now it looks like it’s doing better on perlite and water but I don’t put many hopes on it. Whatever that plant has it’s not contagious she’s lived with at least five other plants and her companions have been chilling as always, no webbing, no bugs at all in either of the plants. I’m gonna wash her with soap and water and hope to improve her in some way.

    to stake the one i got from walmart which was in a 10 inch pot so pretty similar in size a little smaller. instead of using a moss pole because the plant was so big i didn’t wanna size up the pot to somethibg super huge i used bamboo sticks and tied it up to that i know moss is better so the roots can grab but for space reasons i didn’t want something so bulky because the plant is already so big. i’ve also seen people use spagmhum moss around bamboo poles and string wrapped around and they are a little better because the aren’t as bulky!!

    There reason I fell in love with the silver sword because I saw a mature one at a plant store and they let it grow wild with no pole and it was awesome. Id let it just do it’s thing!
