I first watched this channel coz I wanted review on shoes I was thinking of buying but now I just watch it coz it's fun watching you tear down these shoes & uncovering the science behind how they were made
I’ve always had questions about this shoe. I am always looking for a nice pair of white leather sneakers but they are usually not very comfortable. I was looking into these and they were *so* expensive. I was very disappointed.
They are at the top of the price point for the old school white tennis sneaker for sure seeing that others retail around 40-50 bucks, i did like them for walk around in but if it weren’t for this review i probably wouldn’t have spent the money
Money can't buy you class. Ferraris are dripping oil cans, but they carry a heavy price tag. Mercedez is crap, so is BMW, but everyone still buys them. lol Wan't something reliability with a reasonable price? Get a Toyota or Honda - ask Scotty Kilmer on youtube.
I don’t even play tennis yet your videos are so interesting that it makes me want to start playing again. The last time I played tennis was over 20 years ago when I was a teenager. So much has happened since then that it’s not often I hear or see anything much about tennis. I think this sport deserves a lot more attention especially with the distancing between players and the whole social distancing drama. I subscribed after watching your review on Serena Williams real trainers after searching for videos of Nike Pegasus Trail shoes. Just bought those in the Gore-Tex model, since it’s always raining in London. I’m quite enjoying your videos during this lockdown. If you haven’t already (I’m gonna scour through your videos in a minute), could you make videos for new and beginner tennis players? Then I can fully blame you for my next tennis related expenses. Kind regards.
I’m glad you like them! Tennis can get very addicting that’s for sure, hooked me in and been obsessed ever since- I’m thinking also of branching out to other shoes, what sports would you want to see covered?
A common belief I have is that synthetic leather shoes don't breath well, thus resulting in sweaty feet. I try to generally only get leather shoes or exercise shoes that concentrate on breathing. So (drumrolls)...how do these breath?
Great review as always. My tennis fellow friends are surprised when I recommend your channel. Really hurtful when you cut them open, but that is your job. Speedboard tech was interesting, where else is it used?
Thanks Paul, the speed board is mostly for their running shoes, almost something like the pebax plate in the GP turbo, they liken it to an archers bow storing energy, which to me makes a lot of sense - I’m curious why are your friends surprised?
HUGE RF fan, but these shoes do confuse me. At $190 they seem a bit steep for a 'walking around' shoe, especially when I get get Rod Laver or Stan Smiths for much less to walk around in. Hoping the price point drops a bit AND ON starts stocking M14.
Hey tennis pro doc! Could you do a review of the SPEED BLUSHIELD FLY 3 + AG by Diadora? Cool looking tennis shoes, but not that much info about the shoe online.
Hi Zach, would you do a video on On running shoes? I’m planning to get a pair to run in from time to time but there are so many options and it’s not very clear what i should go for.
@@FootDoctorZach thanks... I’m really confused as to what to choose. There are so many models so I’m not sure which is ideal for my lifestyle. It’s also complicated by the fact that I’m not sure what sizes are optimal for me since the shops nearby only have very limited stocks. Since I’m trying different sizes for different models, I feel like I’m kind of between many different sizes (Both M and W shoes feel kind of ok) so it’s really overwhelming to find the correct model + size, despite having watched every review i could find.
Honestly you just have to try a few on to see where your foot is hitting the shoe- no two feet are alike- i try to give as much info as possible on fit but even two feet the exact same size will fit shoes differently because of the weird shape differences of feet
You think these are good for standing and walking alot on the job? Looking for a nice looking shoe that i can walk on all day on the job. Or is this more of a runners shoe overall?
I'm vegan so I was thrilled when On (who I love) came out with this lifestyle sneaker. The look and durability 6 months in is still good, but man, are they not good for walking around all day. Toe width is fine, but the bottom of my feet ache after hours wearing this shoe, especially the ball. I've tried 2 different insoles (Soft Sole and custom Roadrunner) but neither makes much of a difference. I has to be the shoes. 😞
"This is a lifestyle shoe made by a running company, designed by a tennis player" Yup Adidas did the same with the Stan Smiths, although they became a lifestyle shoe later.
He is still wearing Vapors from what ive seen in pictures, i think he will probably design a tennis-specific shoe with On if he continues on the tour past this year, otherwise he may jus stick with Nike- will be interesting to see
Bought these shoes before finding the video. These are a disaster for driving stick-shift. If you have an automatic, you get a wider brake pedal, but a stick has a narrow pedal which is annoying with this massive groove in the middle of your shoe. The "leather" isn't really leather. It's pleather - "vegan leather." They don't breathe at all. Sweaty shoes. And they crease fast. On the bright side, they wear out REALLY fast. So it won't be long before I toss them.

Wow, the price is just insane for casual shoes! If they were for $70, every fan of Roger would by them and that means millions of people. With this price tag, there will be few thousand, maybe. I don't like when something is sold only for it's name, rare special editions etc. if there is no real value in it.
Prior to Roger coming to ON, ON was alreaady a bootique ish style running company. Especially when compared to Nike or Addidas. Only way the prices can come down is if the company becomes infinitely more popular. This can only happen with time, the company is quite small.

@@maxpowers4436 Not sure how they can become more popular if the price is so high. The're like super premium brand for running shoes. Cheapiest models cost around $130 and they go up to $200. Even the most expensive shoes from Nike or adidas are max around $160. This brand has a stamp "rich people only" and to be fair it fits Roger's style really well.
Have been looking for the review of these shoes, few people make em, didnt expect you'd cut it in half, nice to know the construction. Aside from that, vegan leather is a big no no, wanted these to be good so bad since I do like the style, but that faux leather stuff does not last long
Roger fighted with Nike for the RF logo and now uses a kind of "Osaka Naomi" logo in his shoes? 😂 Jokes aside, Zack did you see yesterday the match of Rublev? He make a duration test on the Vapor Pro... one single sliding creep on the court going to the net and the vapor pro get a big hole on the upper (inner side). Rublev must had to finish the game and change their shoes inmediatly. No good result for the Vapor Pro....
I did see that, I’m wondering if it caught on the seam between the reenforcement but yeah that real paper thin upper is going to be an issue I think for hard court sliders
they are hard and rock solid. totally uncomfrtable and almost zero cushioning compared to running shoes like nike react or ultraboost. Can't recommend these :/
Backwards indeed, the hospital nurses and geriatric segment may use these for easy walking. A fake leather shoe with no performance and a exorbitant price is a bomb waiting to explode in the market place. Yet, a sucker IS born every second.
LOL. Kind of over-analyzing a fashion tennis shoe, aren't you? These weren't meant to be athletic shoes. I'm pretty sure On even stated that when they were released. They're just supposed to be street sneakers. Sheesh. And the price point? No more expensive than a regular pair of On - or even the Nike Air Zoom Vapor models that Roger endorsed for nearly 2 decades.
That's how I feel after skimming through the video. They look good and they're light weight but if walking on hard surfaces all day you may find better options. I like them!
With all the respect and admiration I have for Roger I don't think these shoes will be successful...Not bad but way too expensive for what you get. If I need real tennis shoes supporting my feet I definitely won't wear these and if I need a lifestyle shoes I'll go with the timeless Stan Smith spending 57 euro or , in case I need something better , the New Balance 990V5 made in USA ...both on '' vegan leather '' (??!!) :-) :-)
Plus weren’t they a limited edition upon release? I heard the first batch sold instantly, the second has more colours and is also a bit cheaper. I first thought they were kind of meh but they have since grown on me looks-wise.
1:25 funny you say "vegan leather" is a fancy way of saying "fake leather" ... when the word "leather" itself is just a fancy or sneaky way of saying "dead skin of an animal". Oh how simple minds get easily fooled.

Does the leather flakes like other synthetic leathers over time?
Fed was wearing ON court shoes while practicing in Doha today!
Yep- gonna be fun to try them

They’re pretty slick in the new colorways
Thank you for the great review. I found a pair I like on sale for €105, purchase made simple by your detailed summary of the shoe.
Very nice! good price

For what I used them for fine- not sure about it they would use that for a true tennis shoe though

@@FootDoctorZach They'd never imagined that there could be a Doctor tennis player specialized on testing our sport shoes with such detail 👍

I think in time the price will start to drop , I think for now they’re trying to strike on the novelty of them
Honestly I don’t think they will be priced down bc the cheapest On shoe is $130 and their performance shoes go from $140-220.
This was an amazing review, Zach!
Quick question:
1) How is the support in this sneaker?
2) How big is the toe box?
It’s a basic design so pretty minimal- toe box is pretty standard true - medium
Hey tennis pro doc! Could you do a review of the SPEED BLUSHIELD FLY 3 + AG by Diadora? Cool looking tennis shoes, but not that much info about the shoe online.
Yep ill get to more Diadora this year
I bought these and they felt cheap. Designed in Sweden, sourced material from China, assembled in Vietnam.

Doubt they’ll do the job for all day heavy wear
Hello, on your experience do you think this shoes are comfortable to use them for a 3 week trip ?
Like for long distance walks
Not really no

Which one to buy? The Centre Court or The Advantage? and why please?
Just comes down to which colorway you like - not really a big difference between them IMO
So there aren’t that many differences between the roger advantage and center court?
Mostly just colorway/cosmetic
@@FootDoctorZach Thanks! Then it's not a hard decision to go with the Advantage line for $50 less, right?
If it’s me I would
Are you excited about the new upcoming performance tennis shoe Roger will be wearing at Doha?
For sure, just wish I had my hands on a pair
The on are for play tenis?
"This is a lifestyle shoe made by a running company, designed by a tennis player"
Yup Adidas did the same with the Stan Smiths, although they became a lifestyle shoe later.
Hi Zach, would you recommend these to a heavy person ?
Since they’re casual shoes I would think they’re just as good as any other in that category
Hey Zach, how has it held up for you over months? Does/Will the vegan leather hold its shape?
So far so good actually
6:25 stepping like Federer.

He’s playing in Nikes until he retires.

You tore this down? 🤯 I had to ask my US friends to sign up to a raffle so I can possibly win this shoe and have it sent over to Canada 😭😭
Of course I tore them down- I start disappearing if I don’t 😂- I’m surprised they don’t ship to Canada
They are available at SSENSE or at Browns shoes in Canada!
👍
Hi zac could you compare resolution 8 to speed ff2
I’m a much bigger fan of the FF2 vs GR8, just a more fluid shoe, no heel slippage, faster, easier break in, etc
Super hyped shoes indeed.
Yup
What are your top reccomendations for white casual sneakers
They’re all similar just depends what you like aesthetically

Is this shoe low profile or will it give you some height?
Umm- it’s pretty low profile - more stout than some casual shoes but still on par with the Stan smiths
I tried these shoes on a few weeks ago. Not that comfortable. Was not impressed at all. And quite expensive. Big fail from ON, imo.
Reviews have been love/ hate from the community - no one is really falling in the middle
