While clear and honest in communicating his position on matters such as the Treaty, he doesnt seem to personalise his response to those taking an alternative viewpoint, no matter how bellicose they are in communicating their ideas. He is emerging as a true stateman; willing to debate and equally able to listen and analyse what those who may have a differing opinion have to say.

I was shocked to learn how delegations of Maori actually lobbied to be brought within the protection of the British Crown. Never heard that growing up in NZ and had vague idea that we, the British (yes I guess I have to think of myself that way since we are all going back to our 'tribes') had thrust a piece of paper before bewildered locals within 5 minutes of turning up. I don't say this fact is decisive either way, simply that school and uni left me with an incomplete and somewhat distorted view of what was (wrongly) called our founding document.

We need to return to DOMINION DAY created in 1902 as a day for all NZ to rejoice - the day NZ became a Dominion and as one nation we all celebrated together. NZ is not all about the small minority group called Maori, and it was a foolish move by politicians to create the whinge, whine and viciously demanding day called Waitangi Day. Waitangi day has always been a very unpleasant day ... Governor Generals being spat on, Politicians being hurled with dog muck while others verbally attacked, Helen Clark leaving in tears, even the Queen had a wet tee shirt hurled at her. Vicious out of control behaviour by people who simply have no respect and do not deserve the nation's attention. Lets go back to the day we all knew was the day the entire country shared... return to Dominion Day for all people of NZ.

I do not like the Waitangi Day celebrations at Waitangi, it is not representative of NZ, and continues the narrative that maori are our elite masters, New Zealand is run from parliament, not some obscure marae in the top of the north island. The celebrations should be in our capital, with the maori should come to the government not the other way round, we need to unite as one people, the true spirit of the treaty. I do not see the way waitangi is celebrated now does anything to unite us as a nation, it is just not inclusive for the rest of the cultures in NZ. One NZ, one people, one rule of law for all, respect for all cultures equally

Maori did not lobby to be brought under the protection of the Crown. Maori outnumbered the settlers who were creating havoc so the British were asked to sort their own. This is why Maori never ceded sovereignty. However that fact doesn’t fit the white man saviour civilising the savages narrative. The cultural genocide of Maori also doesn’t fit that narrative.

@@NA-sj9jyThis seems to be correct as the last 12 years approx the activists openly say in their 5-7 year old videos here on this platform that thr UN helped them develop the lates round of thr Treaty Principles (to be compliant with UNDRIP) which demand a Maori Parliament (or upper house of Parliament), separate legal system just for them, water ownership, ownership of all minerals / substances in the ground whether they own the land or not. And more. It seems intentionally designed to stoke racial tensions.
The CIA used to go around the world stoking racial tensions during the Cold war to get favored candidates elected or unfavored regimes toppled. It's an old trick used by evil people in shadowy, powerful places to accomplish what they want.
Conspiracy theorists say the globalists want to make the USA ungovernable so people will demand the UN come in to restore order in a North American government superseding the nation-states there are present.
And it seems like the same strategy may be at work here to make Nz ungovernable so we ask the UN to come and restore order.

I was at Waitangi on the weekend. 90% of the weekend was about fun, and having a good time. The blah blah on the marae was just a small part of the whole event. Let's do some research and see how many times the politicians' part has been disrupted by protests. I'll save you the trouble: the minority. And each and every time there has been good reason for each protest, and each and every time each protest has got results. The protests at Waitangi are done because thick headed politicians refuse to listen and all other means of protest have been used.
