I fired my sar st45 - w/ 45acp 230gr fmj ammos at the range yesterday for just 100rds fir the first time, and it fires great and flawlessly. I love it!
👍this gun sar st45 is a very good gun especially with .45acp 230grain but not with jhp, some of the jhp rounds get stuck in the chamber by just racking the slide continuously and no trigger pull. But when I fired it in the range with fmj only, it’s flawless.I love this gun, its style, its price, and material. it could be a great protector for self defense, home, and family, why not. I’ll keep it and I love it!👍 Jun.7, 2021 More likely this gun feeds federal .45 acp 230 grain hi-shok hst jhp. I still like this gun. It’s just picky with jhp ammos, just don’t like remington htp jhp. Jul.26, 2021 I went to the range and put some federal .45 acp 230 grain jhp, it fires flawlessly and still great as well as with fmj ammo. No complain, just picky on some jhp’s maybe, but I love my sar st45, I feel comfortable in firing it at the open range.👍
With my sar st45- its really a great gun, no issues for just 100rds 230gr fmj american eagle first time. The magazine is just very tight for 12rd load as described, maglula can’t even put it in, and just fine for 10-11 rd load. The mag needs cleaning and needs light lubrication too. Carbon buildups after heavy firing in the long run slows down the follower to push upward the ammo, because of sticky carbon film and dirt inside the mag wall and the spring needs light lubrication too to protect from rusting.
This gun feeds Federal Hst hi-shok .45acp 230 grain jhp and Ammo Inc. .45acp 230 grain jhp. Maybe there’s more jhp ammo to discover for this gun. CCi blazer brass fmj in full loaded mag causes hangups at the chamber, but put just 8-10 rounds in the mag, works good.
Just ordered my ST45! Can’t wait to get it, and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it, just as I have enjoyed my SAR K2P 9mm for a handful of years now. I agree, the SAR brand of firearms are unique, form and function is fantastic on them and since I’ve not had 1 malfunction on my K2P, I’d say 100% reliable and you can not beat the price for the value that you get. I always love to talk about them and then I realize that some people have never even heard of them, as you mentioned. Good video my friend! Thanks for the review!
You will like it alot... Its a big gun but its not Hi-Pointish... Its bigger than a Glock 21 and actually very similar to a Canik TP9 if youve held one... The mag release is awkward at first but interesting
Guns, Ammo & Drones what do you know about the ST45 being able to use the ST9’s barrel without any modifications? I know I’ve read somewhere that the 9mm barrel being interchangeable in the ST45. I’ll have to check again but how awesome is that, 2 calibers, 1 gun...
The takedown, as well as the guide rod and spring assembly are very similar to the HK P30 series. In fact, the gun in general, is very similar to the HK VP SERIES.
Just picked this up from Grab a gun for under $350 great video can't wait to get it to the range , I'm sold on the Sar I have a Sar9x platinum which is super nice over 600 rds fired with no problems their the real deal call them budget but the quality is very good.
YES, certainly a nice .45. Thanks for this video, especially since the handbook that comes with the weapon doesn’t show using the little push tool for pushing out the slide stop for disassembly! Now I can finally clean this nice weapon properly.
I think it’s 11+1 in chamber=12rds total for my sar st45. Maglula stops loading the mag after 11 round. But the gun is proven great.👍 Easy way to remove the takedown lever- use a quarter coin or just a finger to push the button on the right side of the takedown lever as it comes out on the left side. The gun needs good cleaning and have it lubricated just about right in every after range shootings for a more better & smooth feeding time. Carbon residue impedes feeding and could cause an out of battery problem. There are sar st45 12rd mags available online, ads says 14rds but the package label describes 12rd, available at shooting surplus and sportsman’s finest.
I loved the design and features but it would choke on feeding about every other FMJ round. 230 grain, different brands. Good brands. Sent it back for repairs and after several months I got it back with exact same problem. To be fair to SAR USA they did take it back with credit going to a different model. If they come out with reliable Gen 2 I’d buy it again. That thing is a beast with 12 plus 1 of 45 ACP
I think that sucks you got a bad one... Another guy on here got a bad one too... Mine has run flawlessly and yeah, 13 rounds of .45 is sure nice to have...
Once you get used to that mag release you will come to realize that the button release is a design flaw. I would have it on all my guns if I could get it. Also, it's a European thing. I own a number of pistols and none of them or any I have just held can I use the button release without changing my grip. I have medium size hands, not small. My Sig P 365 XL I can reach, but is stiff enough that I still have to slightly change my grip. I have Walthers with the the release on the trigger guard and love it. The 3 dot sights would have to go.
I find the mag release interesting... Yeah I agree, you have to change your grip a bit on most guns but the normal button release is just more familiar... I imagine you could get proficient with practice... I like the rear sight on this one, but not the small dots... Overall, this pistol is impressive if you can get past the high slide...
@@gunsammodrones I set up all my guns with blacked out rear and fiber optic front sights. Some are night sights. I have "old eyes" and can't see things like I did when i was young. I also believe if you use 3 dot sights the front sight needs to be a different color. PS I like your videos.

Also, the description on their site said it had polymer magazines, but mine came with steel ones, which might be stronger, although one of them I can only get 11 rounds in. Also no holes in the mags to show the rounds in it.
Nice pistol... Another commentor on here had a bad issue with his mag release and couldnt get it to work properly... mine came with steel mags which Im happy about...
Did anybody tried jhp on either sar9, sar st9, and sar st45? I’m excited to see guns, ammos, & drones’ youtube video in the range test of the sar st45. Or anybody to volunteer in open range. Please post your video on youtube for everyone to see. Be our guest we viewers, so we can see. Thank you much if you do so.
I found out while cleaning my sar9 under a bright light that the sights are glow in the dark night sights. It's not mentioned anywhere in the manual or on any video I've seen. Wondering if those are also
I live in the San Antonio, Texas area and I bought mine at Bracken Guns store. They also have a website. When I went, they had two all black versions and one of the stainless versions, like in the video. I bought one of the all black ones, I bought it, about two months ago. I paid $399 for mine and the stainless version was $100 more.
I have the exact same gun except for mine is the solid black without the stainless steel. However, my biggest issue with his pistol and I’m not sure if it’s something maybe that I can fix. But when it comes to the ambidextrous slide lock release, the one on the right side (if lookin down from rear of gun) will just fall off when I fire the last shot and the slide locks to the back. Has anyone else had this issue? And is it a defect or perhaps maybe when I did a breakdown and cleaning of the pistol I didn’t do something correctly when putting it back together. Any information would be helpful, thanks!
Try with empty mag seated in a mag well , then slide lock open the slide after checking chamber. Then release your empty mag with your mag release paddle, then right and left slide stop/release should lock together at the same time. Then use the right slide stop/relrease, if it didn’t release the slide on the right side something is wrong, but if it releases the slide, then it works. There’s a groove on the right slide/release lever as it comes out, even fall apart when you take it out and pull the slide stop/release pin down on the left side of frame. You can easily see the groove on the right side on the frame and attach that right slide stop lever aligned with it. Then pull down the lever on the right as it engage as you insert back the left side pin.
Does anyone know where you can get the magazines? The SKU number is ST45-12. The ST45-14 magazines do not work with this gun. You may get a round or two, then it jams. The ST45 is the 45 I've been looking for in a .45. Extra capacity and a safety switch. I'm probably going to carry this over my Beretta PX4 Storm .40. Extra stopping power and almost the same amount of rounds.
toshiba mike2 I have heard of issues... There was a commentor on here that said his was horrible... Might have sold the gun because of it... It should work itself out by shooting... Mine doesnt have any issues
The first time I’ve used my sar st45 paddled mag release, the same thing, stiff, but only on that day and in the succeeding days it became more easier and practical, you’ll love it! Just keep your gun clean and lubricated just about right before and after shooting at the range for a smooth cycling and feeding of ammos in the chamber.
Only in the first 5 to 7 tries, then becoming slowly more easier to paddle. Right now, after few months since I bought mine, going back and forth at the range, it became much more easier to paddle -the mag release. It was just new that’s why it is stiff . This gun is great, fires flawlessly with accuracy. Try firing it at the range a lot for better break-in, just my own personal experience. Thanks.
Good video. Paddle style magazine release is copied from German H&K VP9. Only problem is 12 shot capacity. Other pistols like Remington RP45 and FNX45 hold 15 shots. Need to get a magazine extension for ST45 to boost capacity. Probably have to be custom made. Try www.taylorfreelance.com. Since price is low, it may be a hot seller due to sold out conditions of other pistols due to corona virus related panic gun buying. Like to see some shooting tests with the ST45. See which ammunition it likes and does not like. From the field strip view, pistol needs a drop of oil on some of the moving parts to smooth it up. A .45ACP budget blaster. Getting a lot of features for the money.
Why does everyone compare the sar to a glock to me there is no comparison price or quality and the glock is over rated if they were so good the military would be using them
Glocks definitely arent over rated… Their track record for quality is undeniable and they might have won the military trials had they manufactured their own ammo… Police worldwide are the biggest testament to their awesomeness…
@@gunsammodrones every gun I own is a tool to fill a role that involves defending my life or my loved ones. I have no place for cheap/ budget guns. If they come in cheap but have loads of testing data backing them. I understand but this is not that at all.

A P99 on steroids. I might get one of these myself. I always loved the P99 design.
Im on it... will be doing video soon
I"ve used the Federal HST rounds in it with no problems.
I found out while cleaning my sar9 under a bright light that the sights are glow in the dark night sights. It's not mentioned anywhere in the manual or on any video I've seen. Wondering if those are also
Nope, I checked after I was told about the Sar 9
@@gunsammodrones Ah well. They're not that practical anyway. Fell in love with my Sar9x though. Flawless. I just can't find extra mags anywhere!
Gunbroker.com will solve your problems... They have them... Itll be more expensive due to shipping but you will at least have them
@@gunsammodrones Thats where I bought it actually. I've looked a few times for sar9 mags and found nothing. Am I doing something wrong?
Let me go look...

Where did you buy that pistol? Thanks!
Gunbroker.com
Thanks for the video, I'm order mine today
Awesome
Does anyone know where you can get the magazines? The SKU number is ST45-12. The ST45-14 magazines do not work with this gun. You may get a round or two, then it jams. The ST45 is the 45 I've been looking for in a .45. Extra capacity and a safety switch. I'm probably going to carry this over my Beretta PX4 Storm .40. Extra stopping power and almost the same amount of rounds.
Good luck buying alot of gun related items... Until things get back to normal, everyone seems out of stock
Just found a bunch on Gunbroker.com but they arent cheap
Go to Gunbroker.com and type ST45 Sar and they all pop up
Nice looking pistol!
It sure is and feels good in hand also
How much price plz tell me
389
Can we get a range video?
Absolutely... Heading to the range this week... Covid really put a damper on range videos but they are starting to open
It’s a Walther clone but nice
I just got one of these does anyone know where I can buy extra mags ??? Or better mags ??
Gunbroker.com
Try Grab -A-Gun online, then go to magazines, then choose handgun magazines. Search, type sar st 45. Hope still in stock. Goodluck.
Anyone found a Holster thay actually fits and works??
Not that Ive heard...
How much does the gun weigh?
Just under 2 pounds
How much you pay for that baby? Sorry if I skipped over it.
$389.00 from Gunbroker... No tax or shipping and $10 FFL fee
@@gunsammodrones nice score!
Is it me or does it look a lot like the h&k p30l
It absolutely does...
I can’t find nothing for this gun
I know man… Its a really nice gun from a great manufacturer too… I havent even checked to see if they still make it
Is anyone else having problems with their mag release being very stiff
toshiba mike2 I have heard of issues... There was a commentor on here that said his was horrible... Might have sold the gun because of it... It should work itself out by shooting... Mine doesnt have any issues
@@gunsammodrones I hope so other than that the gun shoots wonderfully
I agree... Really nice pistol
Thanks.
Either this gun is huge or you have small hands.
Lol its a big gun for sure
I will be doing shooting reviews on all the newer pistols once our range opens... Alot more videos to come
@@gunsammodrones I will be watching .
Why does everyone compare the sar to a glock to me there is no comparison price or quality and the glock is over rated if they were so good the military would be using them
I dont feel like they are Glocks but H&K for sure…
Glocks definitely arent over rated… Their track record for quality is undeniable and they might have won the military trials had they manufactured their own ammo… Police worldwide are the biggest testament to their awesomeness…
Is no one going to ask wtf is going in the background at 13:40? Dog? Crazy woman laughing? I honestly don't know
Lol I dont remember what that was... Probably both of your ideas... Haha We do have 2 dogs
Pay the money for the H&k
Absolutely not... Why? I have had zero issues with my ST45... Shoots amazing and looks awesome and I saved alot of money by not buying H&K
@@gunsammodrones every gun I own is a tool to fill a role that involves defending my life or my loved ones. I have no place for cheap/ budget guns. If they come in cheap but have loads of testing data backing them. I understand but this is not that at all.
Good for you... There are alot of people who enjoy variety and want to save money.
also... Sarsilmaz has an excellent track record of making weapons for civilian and military...
