- A video for flashing the Lenovo Thinksmart View with custom ROM and settings. Note that I realize this video is not perfect. The sound is not great, the camera is not perfect but it should get you what you need. I am providing this information as a service to help and hopefully it does just that through its imperfection
UPDATE: A new ROM was release recently and it has become the preferred ROM. You may want to consider using it instead of this ROM as the new one has far fewer problems. See this guide for installing: github.com/pga...
Part One - • Lenovo ThinkSmart View...
Correct Android 11 ROM: s3.us-east-1.w...
Install Android System Webview from Google Play Store
play.google.co...
Get developer options by going to
Settings - About Phone - Press Build Number repeatedly until developer mode enabled appears
Settings - System - Advanced - Developer Mode - Smallest Width - set to 600
Not shown in the video:
Settings - Security - Screen Lock - None
Settings - Display - Screen timeout - 30 minutes
Also note that SOMETIMES the device will crash to the Lenovo logo screen on boot if WIFI is turned on. It is advisable to turn wifi off when booting. This is one of the oddities and if anyone has a fix please leave a comment

For anyone hitting the issue with "qfil download fail sahara fail" try setting everything up and the last thing before hitting the download button is to power the device in EDL mode (with the two volume buttons). This fixed it for me.
Thanks for sharing
OOOOOOOOO MMMMMMM GGGGGGG!!!! My guy... thank you so much! I know my way around so I could still follow you when the screen went off of the camera view but this is AMAZING!!!! Android 11 on this tablet?!?!?!?! Yes please!!!!
Thanks. Shooting videos is not the easiest for me. Do know that a more stable rom has been posted. It is Android 8 but has a lot less problems than this A11 ROM. It is advised to use that one instead. See the update in the description.
How did you find a signed driver?
For anyone else who gets the Yellow ! on Windows 11 (and if you right click the driver you see driver is not signed). If you goto:
Settings > Windows Update > Advanced Options > Recovery > Next to Advanced Startup Click "Restart Now"
Then you'll boot into Windows pre-boot environment. Select advanced Startup and restart.
You'll then boot into the Advanced startup and you can select the option (mine was 7) for "disable device driver signature enforcement"
I'm not sure but I didn't have this issue. Thanks for sharing. I'll incorporate into the wiki
thank you very much. flashing worked well, but I got a view problems:
1. which applications did you install and what to do with them?
2. After I did lunch android 11, I can not go back to screen. I see only a black screen. What to do? Do I need some settings/tweaks?
3. what you men with turning on wifi while booting. how is it possible?
4. How to set up wake up correctly?
a part 3 would be really helpful :)
Hey there. I'm not sure I understand. Are you able to use the tablet at all?
1. Are you asking about View Assist? If so, check out the other videos on this channel and the ones I will be releasing. I am short on time at the moment but I plan to get a bunch of videos out in the next few weeks when things slow down for me.
2. Don't understand
3. You can change a setting that will allow you to turn off WIFI on boot for a SSID (see this page at the very bottom github.com/dinki/View-Assist/wiki/Find-IP-of-Android-device/)
4. Wake up of the tablet or wakeword ? If you are referring to what happens when the screen goes idle, you can flip the camera switch on the side of the tablet to act like a power button on a typical Android device.
Hope this helps
A11 seems to crash, forums indicate it is due to the wifi driver. Have you found any solution to this?
The problems I have had are seen during boot/reboot. The device is pretty solid otherwise. See the wiki for tips on how best to work around these issues. That said, the device can be challenging. I hope to eventually find a new ROM but for now this is the best one I've used.
So, is Lineage 15.1 better that Android 11 ROM ? even if it's based on Android 8.1 ?
Will really appreciate you answer
It is. Substantially. The A11 ROM has a few issues that make it problematic. The main issue is it has wifi issues with boot that cause the device to crash. That alone is a deal breaker
@@homeautomationstation I currelnty have Android 8.1, is there any benfit to updating to Lineage 15.1?
If I flash on multiple devices, the wifi MAC stay the same across devices. It will create issue on the network. Do we have a work around?
Yes, there is a way to change the MAC for each and I think I address that in the wiki. Do know that a more stable rom has been posted. It is Android 8 but has a lot less problems than this A11 ROM. It is advised to use that one instead. See the update in the description. These MAC collisions don't exist on the A8 ROM.
@@homeautomationstation thanks, I'll give a try.
For some reason I can flash everything with QFIL but the ads is not working in my 2 windows pc.. Don't know why! its possible to create a flash mode that include everything without the need to connect via adb? thanks a lot!!!
I can't really provide technical support but we've got folks on the Discord that can certainly help you if you are able to join.
@@homeautomationstation nice.. its possible to share the discord channel?
Amazing project! Does this work with the Lenovo Smart Display 10 and the Lenovo Smart Clock? Thanks in advance!
I'm not sure but certainly interested in hearing your results if you try it out. I did look at the Lenovo Smart Clock a bit and it seems like it can sideload apps. If you can get Wallpanel or Fully Kiosk on it and one of the microphone programs then it will probably work.
Come see us on Discord to discuss.
I have one of the Lenovo Smart clocks setup with the HA companion app and it works really well. Swipe navigation helps navigate the dashboard and the wall panel add on allows me to setup a screensaver with any art I want. The setup is a little weird but there's videos here that show you how. I think the fully kiosk browser would work as well.
Auto Rotate not working, and Camera also not working
Better to use the Lineage OS version than the A11 one.
i have problems and error ocurred
please help me
Sure. Connect with us on Discord and we will help.
Hi, I keep getting an error in qfil: "download fail, qsahara server fail'.
Any ideas?
Hey there. Sorry I don't know. Best shot at support is the HA thread in the description
Having the same issue did you get any luck and find a fix for it?
found the issue
go into bios and turn off safe boot
that did the trick for me
So I flashed about 10 times following the directions and had no errors, after i wiped the data and all rebooted and went through the language settings, WIFI and bam! took me back to the sign in to Teams screen 😮💨 What I'm I doing wrong? any clues?🥺
I will answer to my question, I was using the wrong directory to flash...
Worked good but I can't connect to any WIFI has anyone had problems connecting?
Yep. The A11 ROM (this one) has problems with WIFI. I updated the description a few weeks ago to suggest folks use Lineage (A8.1) with the guide. I have not recorded a video but that ROM is much better. It was only released a few weeks ago but has proven to be reliable.
@@homeautomationstation please make a video. your way for the 11 rom is TOO much easy!! please jeje
Flashing is not working for me
Qfil keeps giving me Sahara fail and I don't know how to fix it
Join our discord server if you can. We have a channel for ThinkSmart View discussions. There's a new ROM out that is better than this one so you will probably want to use that instead. I will film another video but have not had a chance to. The new ROM came out last week and it is much better
@@homeautomationstation I used multiple roms and still the Sahara erro I guess I will wait for the new video 🫡
@@asterionleb I encounter the same error and it was because I had the wrong qualcomm driver, updated to the latest and it worked
@@VJVOLKAN for me it was I need to use a USB 2.0 port and I forgot to turn off safe boot from windows bios
