Villa and Linda Bull are both legendary singers 🔥💕🔥Vikka is a powerhouse!
It's a quiz show based on music. They'd get the guests to perform at the end of the show. Some incredible pairings/grouping of musicians, who don't normally perform with each other.
The house band is totally awesome too...
Gareth Liddiard and Adalita springs to mind as one of those pairings. Gareth Liddiard & Adalita - Messin' With The Kid - ua-cam.com/video/kXkTPqsZU3A/v-deo.html
Yes It is a Rolling Stones song. Notice Linda is back up vocal for Vika. Tim Rogers is the front man for Aussie group "You am I "
Rockwiz, recorded in the Gershwin room at the Espy. Who knew such greatness would emanate from a dirty old bar like that. Long live the Espy.
I'll drink to that! Many messy fun nights there over the years
in St Kilda Melbourne to distinguish from all the other Esplanade Hotels
“Soon it would become apparent that 2020 was the year that many artistic careers slid to a pause but not that of Vika & Linda, whose soulful vocal prowess became a radiant beacon of warmth.” - Andrew McMillen, The Australian
You can’t beat siblings singing together, Paul Kelly observed when Vika & Linda released their 2020 anthology, ‘Akilotoa. “They make the air beat in sync.”
It comes naturally to Melbourne’s Bull sisters - they’ve been singing together their entire lives, starting in church with their mother, Siniva, who came to Australia as a nursing student in 1959. “Tongans by nature are fun, always laughing, always eating, always singing and always praying,” Vika explains.
“We learned to sing at church,” Linda adds. “Our mother was our teacher and we loved listening to the Tongans singing. It was joyous.” Peace out.
was in the room that night, she blew the roof off the place! from a TV show called rockwiz that began basically as a pub quiz in the espy hotel in St Kilda Melbourne.
Vika can mix it with anybody don’t care whatcha all say
Lol Rockwiz is a tv show comedy rock quiz with contestants being rock/pop artists and featured performances like this one! Was an awesome show really miss it. The two opposing celebrity guest artist contestants perform a duet together at the end of the show. Yup got some amazing crazy good insane matchups like this one ☝️
Tim’s a great singer. Vika OWNED him. Singing machine
Timothy Adrian Rogers (born 1 September 1969[citation needed]), known professionally as Tim Rogers, is an Australian musician, actor and writer, best known as the frontman of Australian rock band You Am I. He has also recorded solo albums with backing bands. As of July 2013, Rogers has released 12 albums with You Am I and five solo albums. Peace out.
Vikka’s range and presence are fabulous and she is just a fabulous person and singer.
The Bull Sisters! Are absolutely beautiful and brilliant!
Tim Rodgers is such a fantastic performer and the Bull girls are phenomenal.
I've been waiting for this. Not a huge Rolling Stones fan. But I will play this all day and all night long. The best rendition by far. I think Tim was holding back a bit to let Vika shine more. We all know she is simply the best and has earned that respect. So glad you enjoyed it. Your reactions are priceless. So much fun. 😁
I saw Vika and Linda perform a few weeks ago with Jimmy Barnes, Diesel, Jon Stevens, Chris Cheney, and Hoodoo Gurus. It was a great show and Vika and Linda were incredible! Check them out singing in The Black Sorrows (Never Let Me Go and Chained To The Wheel)
Vika is a total powerhouse and Made this song so great
RockWiz got some amazing lineups, all kinds of performers doing songs you'd never expect to hear from them. If you're after more of this there's a HUGE amount of songs to choose from, but my personal favourites are Tex Perkins doing "Werewolves of London", Troy Cassar-Daly and Sal Kimber doing "I'm On Fire", or Kate Ceberano anchoring a super lineup for an awesomely raucous version of "Walking On Sunshine".
I knew before this started that your ears were in for a treat!
RocKwiz is the Aussie version of Jeopardy where every question is
"What is music for $1000".
🤣 love that description!
You Am I - one of the most underrated bands in OZ - by some - loved by anyone who saw them play live.
Vika's voice is so effortless. I can't wait to see your reaction to "Chained to Wheel" performed by The Black Sorrows. It will blow your mind. 🤯😉✌
Merry Clayton sang the female vocals on the original with the Stones. She was very pregnant when she arrived at the recording session. Any doubts about her faded away when she started singing. Her vocals on that are nothing short of monumental; and I assert here that Vika more than does her justice. Unbelievable.
How spot on were you when you said Tim Rogers had a Jagger-like swagger and then to find out it's a Rolling Stones song. 😂😊
Rockwiz is a TV show that’s performed at my local pub!
Oh, yeah! That's singing!!!!!!!
RocKwiz is a goldmine for unusual combinations doing covers. Tim Rogers is a rocker from way back. Vika is just a phenomenon.
OMG I was obsessed with Tim Rogers back in the 90s. I saw him play at the Big Star Basement on Rundle Street late one night and he stroked my arm and I never washed that top again.
Wow!!! These Aussie and New Zealand musicians are on another level AND live! Thanks for posting.
New Zealand? All Australian born..
@@kathrynperry992 correct - Vika and Linda were born in Doncaster Victoria.. Their mum is from Tonga..
Ah, the Rockwiz rabbit hole…. Beauty.
And how good is the house band?? 👍👍👍
Rockwiz is such a fabulous show. So many great performances after the show that I see, out on UA-cam. Kav Temperley doing a cover of Hurricane is worth a look to see a guy with a different style and awesome vocal range
vika made that cover so so good. merry clayton was the original back up singer she had crack in her voice that gives you chills love the rolling stones
I'm glad I came across this reaction. Vicka and Linda are stunning vocalists and Vicka is amazing in this. One suggestion for hearing Tim Rogers singing is another Rockwiz special where he does See Me Feel Me from Tommy
It's a Rolling Stones song, and Vika sings the hell out of it. She's a powerhouse!
Thanks for your reaction Nick! This was my request. Just adore Vika and Linda, and think they are some of the best singers we have in Australia. Paul Kelly clearly thinks so too. They have such a great respect for the lyrics they sing. Vika singing Gimme Shelter actually shook me to my core. Just a fierce performer!
St Kilda beach (Melbourne) pub is where that is filmed. Most Australian bands are used to performing to a small audience in such a setting. I guess that is why our bands are great live.
RocKwiz (Rock Quiz) is a TV show !
I LOVE your reactions and joy
Rockwiz!
Hourly Daily, one of the best Aussie albums of all time from a 56 year old
I think you reacted to the Black sorrows song, Never let me go and Vika and Linda sang on that song, I’m pretty sure you were loving Linda’s voice ❤️
Never Let me Go is almost all Vika. Linda provides backing. She (Linda) shines as lead in other songs
Thrilled this one was requested, was on my future request list. Vika rocks this 💯- Linda is equally fantastic in their collaborations, but radiates joy & support when providing percussion back up.
If you want more Tim Rogers, he is the lead singer of a band called 'You am I'.
Vika and Linda legends
Lot's of choice "tag team" covers on Rockwiz. Best house band on TV.
I love Tim Rogers and his band You Am I. He's a brilliant songwriter and happily admits he doesn't have a great voice. I met him, the bass player from You Am i, Andy Kent and Kram, the lead singer and drummer of Spiderbait one morning in the Bat and Ball pub before the Sydney cricket Test, which they were also attending. There was about 8 people all up in the pub and they happily said hello and had a quick chat. Tim has done a lot of music shit both with You Am I and solo. The Bull sisters are legends in Australia. Tim is at his best singing acoustically in my opinion. His band is a punk rock sound but they also do ballads. Try "Damage" from You Am I as a starter.
My favourite on Rockwiz is Ella Hooper -Pleasure and Pain with Vika and Linda Bull
Hey you found ‘You Am I’ A very underrated band themselves and one of the best performers when it comes to playing live.
Love how you showcase some of our favourite singers and bands. Thank you!
That's Vika Bull from the Black Sorrows.
Nick ...vika and Linda are angels
Most underrated singers on earth ..
I see them at my supermarket and they always have a hello and smile 💓🙏
Tell them they have a fan here too - they are both amazing takents
Rockwiz / Rock Quiz. Is a quiz show about music hence the name. That is the house band, and the Bull sisters are the house singers - that's why Vika was standing at that spot. They have some amazing talented guests on the show and they usually do a duet at the end of the show. They have some duets of singers you would never see sing together otherwise.
Heartfelt thanks to you for doing such an exemplary job with your channel. Your music expertise and your integrity and positivity shine through like a beacon of light in a sea of mediocre reactors. 🙏
The show RocKwiz is brilliant. The RocKwiz band, the backup singers of the month (in this case Vika and Linda Bull) and the host, the gracious and inimatable Julia Zemiro, make the whole show must-see music TV. RocKwiz had a Facebook page and a UA-cam channel.
Love, love, love Vika and Linda Bull! I often feel Linda doesn’t get the attention she deserves as well. She’s equally as good as Vika but takes the lower keys.
Those girls are the bomb
she put a tear in my eyes, absolutely phenomenal
Check out You Am I to hear Tim 👍
Vika is rocking this song with pure power and talent 🥳👍 Ps. Tim is also great👍🇦🇺
Vika Bull does a whole jukebox musical of Etta James songs. It's beyond words.
Finally - I've been hanging out for you to react to the incredible Vika Bull
Did you notice Paul Kelly's drummer in the background of this clip...? Peter Luscombe also played with The Black Sorrows (Vika, Linda and Joe Camaleri in the early days) 😉😉
Oh Yeah I love this! Have watched it many times.
Shelter is a Rolling Stones song.
Tim Rogers was with the band, You Am I (another Aussie band). He has a phenomenal voice, which (imo) can only be fully appreciated live (as in you actually have to be there). He also has a very quick wit, which I find hilarious!
The song is gimme shelter by the rolling stones. Scorcesi used it a lot in his movies 😊
The 40 seconds of blank video at the end is to give you time to catch your breath after listening to Vika sing. You can tell by Tim’s reaction at the end, she stole the show and deserves the applause.
I've watched this one and it's on my playlist . They kill it ! Rolling Stones ..
"This song is so familiar." I was thinking the same thing. Must have been in a Shrek Movie or a McDonald's ad.
Loved her Black Sorrows songs
Just another day in Australia.
Nice pick up on the Mick Jagger vibes Nick. Vika is on another planet vocally and Tim can belt.
You reacted to Vika and Linda Bull in the Black Sorrows reaction which you loved.
Rockwiz is an awesome TV show out here.
Maaannnn, I miss Rock Wiz! Such an awesome show!
Tim Rogers, local legend. Give his music a go, you won't be disappointed. Berlin Chair by You Am I. Or Purple Sneakers.
Rock Wiz, a music quiz show filmed in a Melbourne pub lounge room..... or ladies lounge as they were called when women were not allowed in the other bars or sections.
The Esplanade Hotel ( Espy ) is a magnificent, white hotel in St Kilda, Melbourne overlooking Port Philip Bay.
I love the building but have never had a drink there.
Too me, it is a landmark to rival the Sydney Opera House, but more functional. lol
Rockwiz...Tina Arena and Jeff Martin... Don't Give Up.
Epic
You were right the first time. It's the Black Sorrows.
Vika and Linda are two of the baddest out there.
You should hear Vika sing a Paul Kelly classic with Paul on guitar and backing vocals called Sweet Guy. That's Vika in top form.
I've got that lined up for next time
Rockwiz has a lot of great performances. My favourites are a hugegroup effort including Vika & Linda for "Radar Love" & Ella Hooper "Pleasure & Pain"
This is a good TV show. Seen You Am I so many times in the 90s. Saw the black sorrows too. Nice to see an American appreciating our stuff 😉
Legendary song, legendary performance
Crazy!!! Next best thing to the Stones!!
Thanks for reacting to this one. You know they are going to be great because who it is but I hadn't seen this one before! xx
This is amazing. I’m glad you found it.
Tim Rodgers ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Linda and Vika Bull just incredible.
If you want to see Rockwiz in all it's glory - then you should be viewing the "Hey Ya" rendition or the "Sloop John B" - both of which feature the incomparable Bull sisters
Cmon now, Gimme shelter, the Stones. Beautiful
Ly performed by vika and Tim
RockWiz .. Short forRock Quiz, which is an indication of what the show is about what its about, a live presentation that tours and also a Telivision series, and each episode they have a musical collboration of the kind that wouldnt often happen otherwise, sometimes putting legendary performers with newer artists, the results are often extraordinary.
I knew you would get to it eventually, well done.😁
Tim Rodgers is the lead singer of one of my favourite bands growing up. You Am I
Vika is my heart. Linda was standing next to her.
Tim Rogers, my forever crush
Tim Rogers is best known for his band You Am I. They were an Australian 90s rock group playing rock in a grunge era.
So mate you've seen gurrumul and now Vika, indigenous aussies❤❤❤❤
Vika and Linda are Tongan.
Tim Rogers, the singer /You am I ,his old band .Circa 1990s .Song try ,Berlin Chair or Cathy's clown .
You Am I another great band live. Saw them at Selina's, excellent! And adore listening to either or both Bull sisters.
The rolling stones. And sisters of Mercy covered it.
Heavy heart- You Am I. ❣❣
There are some great clips from Rockwiz. This music was used in The Departed movie Martin Scorsese uses The Rolling Stones music in a lot of his movie's.
Well that was awesome 🤙🤙🤙
A deep pool of Aussie talent👌🇦🇺
I saw this live.
Bloody fantastic!
Rolling Stones cover of Gimme Shelter.
