Enjoying your videos. Can't wait for your south island ones too. I love how you interact with people, a very kiwi way of being.
Thanks for watching, really appreciate your feedback🤗
Hey guys you forgot to check out Carterton.
I know it's unfortunate. We were running a bit late
There is always a next time.@@GlenAndMado
The sun is shining and you both look so happy. Maybe it really is the luck of the Irish as Glen said😉. I'm happy to see you are no longer suffering from that horrible Orf virus Mado🙂
aww thank you, it was a beautiful sunny day so you can only be happy😅
We had some beautiful Victorian English buildings in Christchurch that were sadly lost in the quakes. You might find one of two when you get down here ;)
Oh my kids would have loved to meet you if only we'd known you would be in Masterton! Still glad you made it up here and enjoyed yourself, I'm sure you were blown away by Castlepoint it's one of the most spectacular beaches in New Zealand for sure.
ah too bad we missd you! It was indeed amazing, never seen something like it before☺
Fun Fact. The Pub you mentioned in Greytown (Gastro Pub known as The White Swan) was moved to to Greytown from Lower Hutt in 6 pieces over the Remutaka hill in 2002 and was extensively remodelled and opened in 2003
ohh wow that's impressive😳
If you like this town youll like oamaru in south island , lots of victorian architecture and steampunk museum lol its a wee gem
definitely have to visit Oamaru!
So glad you stopped and featured beautiful Greytown. Others have mentioned Oamaru 3 hours drive south of Christchurch. We were amazed at the Victorian precinct at Oamaru and like an open-air museum street. Also Sumpter Wharf has over 1,000 cormorants/shags on the road to the Blue Penguin Colony. Guys Oamaru is well worth a visit as probably the smallest quirky town in NZ!
Thanks, definitely have to check it out!
Oamaru is great small town. Only thing I can suggest is don't go on and Monday or Tuesday as most of Victorian precinct will be closed. A Friday or Saturday is normally the best time to visit. Also check out Scott's brewery, craftworx brewery, the sunday farmers market and the steam punk HQ
@@thekiwinomad we already checked it out and it was on a Monday or Tuesday also 🤣🤣 what’s the chances will get a video up soon though for Oamaru
@@GlenAndMado I would suggest checking out the precinct when it's open. It's pretty interesting with all the different shops etc... the lookout and the walk along on cliff side to the gun emplacement is all worth it. As is around Herbert forest and Hampton beach
So pleased you got to see Pam at Trocadero. I get my afternoon coffee from Pam every workday and she, and her partner Sam (yes, Pam and Sam 😅) are two of the nicest people you’ll meet.
A lot of the historic buildings in Masterton were effectively destroyed in the 1942 earthquake, which is why a lot of it looks so boxy and industrial on the main drag. a couple of blocks over from the main road is much more scenic.
If you're through Featherston again, there's a little museum there for the special mountain-climbing trains called the 'Fell Locomotive Museum' that has one of the 1880's locomotives that used to climb over the mountains between Featherston and Hutt valley before the tunnel was opened in 1955.
ohh I think we actually drove by the trains😅 That's interesting!
My friend and I used to sunbathe on top of that fell engine when it resided in the local park.
Vixen Burger Featherston, best burgers in Wairarapa, many say best burgers they’ve had anywhere
Awesome vlog guys - I miss drives through small town NZ! The Wairarapa is just stunning aye! X
Thanks Jason you legend the support means alot to us :) theres plenty of beautiful little towns and we find it so fascinating haha
Poor Carterton is like the proverbial middle child. You know its there, but you just pass through it.
NZ have a lot of old Presbyterian, Anglican and Catholic churches. Love the town and video :)
❤Nice to see your faces again. Miss you guys, happy travels.
We have Victorian-era towns like Greytown too here in Victoria, Australia for example Ballarat, Bendigo, Daylesford, Castlemaine, Kyneton, Beechworth and Portland. However most towns look like Masterton, they usually have a history of farming as opposed to gold mining, gold mining was where all the money was.
Thank you for another great video.
Scott absolutely legend you are, thanks for tuning in and following our journey :) Happy New Year! 🥳
I love Greytown! Must get there sometime. Arrowtown, near Queenstown, is 'Olde Worlde' too. Enjoying your pictures and commentary. Safe travels 🤙
You definitely should, it's a beautiful little town! Believe it or not Arrowtown is already on the to do list 😀
I have only been to ChCH in Burnham military camp n Lake Tekapho in the South Island
when i was 18 and very shy country boy. It was an experience.
Apple Crumble was my first exotic Breakfast.
Some of my racing videos are filmed at the Masterton drag racing track
wow Carterton doesnt exist?, Funny that you managed to stop at the lavender farm in Carterton but completely missed the town.
I know, it's a shame🙈We were running out of time at that day, as we had to make it to the Castlepoint
Glen now has wellington coffe standards 😂 wellingtonions are picky with there coffe
Damn, if I lived there, I'd buy all the sausages that you want. Looks like a great place.
Thanks Glenn and Mado another great video lived all my life in NZ, I've heard of Castle Point but never been there yet.
Damn you need to go and explore it! its such a gem! :) hope your having a lovelt day!
The birds in the background at 13:45 🥺
Nice Sharing
Love what you guys do!! 💗💗
Thank you🧡
Love your videos guys, Glen looks exactly like a guy I know called Sean regan from Sligo , mad auld world
Thanks for watching🤗 what's the chances😅
Wow, the weather looks premo...
Peter Jackson and James Cameron live in (or rather near) Greytown. There's insane Mansions in the area. A lot of wealthy Wellingtonians. James Cameron even owns a little store on the main road.
Peter Jackson resides out the back of Masterton , James Cameron resides South of Featherston. Heard about his shop have to check it out next time I'm in the Wairarapa.
Featherstone is gradually getting more tidier, but business owner's still not fixing their buildings up, which is a shame. Cold and very windy in winter! Greytown is usually very busy but another Martinborough. The White Swan isn't original! It was trucked there and completely don up. It actually fell off the moving truck on the way there! Or at least one half as it was shifted in several pieces.
It’s just the one owner in Featherston who won’t look after his buildings due to a childish decades old argument he had with council officials
❤❤❤❤❤
If you are enjoying the north island wait till you get to the South Island 🏔️🏔️🏔️
It's beautiful so far😍
❤
I might tell you that Balter in Carterton is a really good cafe/bar, but you're probably already on your way to adventures in the other island. Safe journey!
oh no, we missed that! We are already in the South Island😀
@@GlenAndMado The landscape in the South Island is even more stunning than the North Island. I'm sure you'll love it!
8:51 I think Mado wanted to strangle Glen lol
🤣🤣
You can pan for Gold in some areas, if thats another experience?
First thing I noticed is that Glen Is wearing the smallest t shirt ever made 😅
🤣🤣🤣
What happened to Carterton.?
A town full of eye candy but 2000 people not enough for me
Mr Glen, you've got some pecs and biceps going on there, for sure. Very fit n handsome.
😅😅🥰
Antique show😂
Supar dear
I am alao a christian
I hope you starting calling it Masterton, not Masterson.
Looks incredibly boring
