Very nice, detail & clarity. I assume the top midrange driver is not connnected? The Altec 409's have made a transition from the ceiling to monitor. Thanks for posting. Good recording. Tube amps and single drivers or point source:)
Hi, one question. Did you have a product identification of this box, this loud speaker? Name, version? Because only the greater speaker is a altec lansing 409 duplex. The sound is very fine. Thank you.
aaaaah I don't know. "Stunning?" my fav. speaker was the Altec 601-8D 12" coax. I had 'em mounted in a STONEHENGE type enclosure. Yes, they were G-R-E-A-T until my stupid daughter came to visit; While I was at the store she and her stoner - friend from Idaho cranked the Marantz 140 past my mark that said "MAX" as in maximum; she blew up the tweeters and there are no replacement parts. SO I saved up and purchased a couple 15" super duplex Altec 904-8A 16" speakers. Broke my heart that all my hard work building the cabinets and hunting down 601 series 12" coax went to waste. YOU know what she said, "Oh, well, they were OLD speakers."?? Don't care much for the 409'ss sorry to be a scofflaw --they're just OK
love altec !!i have alot a diff kind of speaker and my altec of by far the best
And people say about modern HiEnd speakers...tsct, tsc... In time, I liked those 604 on the wall, great setup!

does this have the same quallity as the 604 605 ? maybe for monitoring studio useage?
Looks like they were dropped into a pair of L26 JBL cabinets. Imagine what they would sound like with correct enclosures.
I've recently purchased a pair of 409 4-T. I hope it sounds like yours !!
Could you suggest a box to mount them?
Thank You.
