- it's not lie that right now I'm probably the unfittest I've ever been, which is why when SufferFest came to me with this challenge, it gave me the perfect opportunity to have something to aim for again, it was a great motivator and in general, a lot of fun. Cheers SufferFest!!

yeahhh I know an FTP test is more 'accurate'. But when you're lacking motivation, the last thing you should do is an FTP test (especially when you're unfit...). Smashing a local strava KOM is much more fun in my opinion. I specifically chose this climb as it is sheltered the whole way up, so wind impact is low. I also did the two efforts on days where the wind was light (feel free to check on mywindsock). Finally, this was literally to have a bit of fun and motivate myself after a pretty abysmal year. Sure - there's definitely more I could've done to make myself even fitter. For example focused more on my recovery, my diet... But hey, 1 second per day is pretty decent in my eyes, so yeah. Hope everyone's good :)

What mount do you use for your wahoo that allows you to attach your GoPro?
Maybe do the final ascent 1 week recovery after the 4 weeks of training? otherwise your numbers are going to be down due your fatigue

Does 13secs over his PR up a 8min climb, equating to 2,7% slower than the PR... I wish I was that unfit too! xD
Jokes aside, I always enjoy going along on a nice challenge and journey, and this little mini-journey wasn't an exception. ;)
I was stuck in life, playing games all day and doing nothing, and then a friend introduced me to this program called Forwago. Now I'm on a clear path forward and enjoy every day.

This video actually motivated me to buy my first smart trainer just last week and I'm really excited to get it delivered in the upcoming days. Here in Slovenia the temperatures are already really freezing and I find it difficult to ride my bike without me turning into an ice block even with multiple layers. But your improvment over the course of a month really got me excited about indoor training so thank you a lot for this types of videos.
I know this route being so close to home. I always look out for you whenever I'm out in the car haha. If you ever get hungry after this lockdown, make sure you stop at Eden Newburgh and get the Gammon pie 😉😍

Me too. I got hit by a car August '19 bike broke and was off for about a year. Bought a new bike this September having gained about 10 kgs. Was climbing always this hard?
Main thing is just get out there (or get on an indoor trainer) if even you don't feel 100%. Baby steps, good luck.
Setting a challenge is what saved me during the last lockdown. I'm watching this as I have my breakfast before going out for my lockdown hill reps, but it made me wonder, what's the optimum amount of time between eating and going out for a ride? Don't want to be fighting the porridge as well as the hills! 😝👊🏽

Without a power meter IRL efforts are impossible to compare, how do you know the impact of the wind is the same?
Because motivating yourself to do an FTP test, twice in one month, at full capacity is flippin' hard. The last thing I wanted to do was an FTP test. Smashing a local KOM is much more fun IMO. Yes, agree regarding the power meter situation, which is why I chose two days where the wind was light. (Feel free to check mywindsock if you happen to use it). The climb is also sheltered pretty much the entire way up so wind impact is reduced further.

@@Cameron_Jeffers the half monty might have been an alternate. But I know that ride you did very well. Tough one.
@@Cameron_Jeffers should usee Xert then, I just did a warm up, then a full gas 4min effort and Xert update my fitness signature perfectly. It is so accurate and you don't need to get mentally ready for that full or half monty crap.

Hope your new team and new fitness work well paving the way to a great 2021. Personally feel cycling is about cycling(outdoors). Can’t stand Zwift and all the new indoor computer simulated stuff. Although for folk unable to train outside they are no doubt a game changer.
I had a very similar opinion, but I've just "converted" to indoor training. It isn't a replacement for outdoors, but it fits my schedule better. I've got three kids and can only ride at night. Over the years it has slowly gotten to me and I finally caved and converted to cycling indoors for winter, at least. But I fully appreciate it isn't a replacement for getting out.
Cam, whats the best way to get faster for zwift racing? i do a bit of mtbing but mostly ride on Zwift, been hitting the hills as much as i can to try and improve my strength on climbs, is this a good idea?

Looks good, might have my eye on a turbo trainer for the colder months, looks like a good piece of kit for training.
I picked one up second-hand on Ebay, well worth it. I've had it set up for about two weeks now and have ended up riding far more than I would if I was just relying on outdoors.

@@gavinward3176 I picked up a Lifeline TT-02 Fluid Trainer. Fluid is quieter than magnetic apparently. Turned it into a smart trainer by adding cadence/speed sensors, so I could track my efforts and use Zwift.
Haven’t watched yet, guessing quite fit!

I think cycling contacts only officially start on January 1st, on pro team training camps in December you often see a bunch of kits from different teams because of that.

My unfit was beginning of August. 15kg heavier and ftp dropped about 90 watts...
Ftp is back quicker than the weight.

I was so depressed because of everything that has been happening in the world lately and I started gaining weight like crazy. The one thing that really helped me to get better was Forwago. A big thanks to everyone who puts an effort into the making of programs like this.
The amount of time we spend believing we can't is more than enough time to learn how you can. The Forwago program helped me to realize that I can achieve almost everything if I just try it hard enough. Believe in yourself :)
