You can 3d print everything to make this the ultimate XL laser.
Precision is key with these bigger projects. Great DIY custom bed.

This was a fun project to do. I have some large signs to do in the spring and this way, I can do the entire sign without having to reposition and align "parts". There won't be an enclosure for this one...............

    Roger, nice video.
My thought is the x axis drag chain will eventually sag and bump into the back rail. Hope I’m wrong - time will tell.

It is very rigid and has not sagged a bit, even after a lot of cycles.

Have you considered mounting it vertically on the wall?
I'm thinking about doing this, as it would take much less space, with just a slight angle (maybe 10º) so the board is kept near the base by gravity, instead of tipping it over the laser.

It is stored that way, but when used is laid flat. The signs I engrave are powder coated aluminum.

I recently added the X and Y extension and have the wavelet lines on mine as well. I have come to believe that the extruded aluminum at that length can’t handle the weight of the 20w laser. I went as far as to disassemble it all the way back down and back together just to make sure everything was tight and squared. It still did not help. Please keep updates if you are able to remedy this.

Bad bearing on the X axis carrier. Once replaced, no more wave lines. Since I had it apart, I replaced all three since this laser has had a LOT or hours on it.

Any insight as to where can buy the bearings? On amazon maybe? I discovered a bad bearing on the x axis and cant seem to get anywhere with support from Longer as I need other parts as well but I can make due with everything except the bearings. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Here: amzn.to/4bBawGT This is a very common part used on lasers and 3D printers.
