The BBM block is a thing of beauty and is capable of 3500 hp with Cammer heads and a blower. It blows my mind that Callita, and those guys were running Ford Factory 427 blocks at 2500 hp back in the day. They didn’t live like that BBM, Pond and the like and the BBM heads are really good, I had the honor of seeing the design prints and process, they are really a spectacular piece of work that is top drawer of the parts for any project based on the FE. I really wish I had not lost my sight and have not been able to build a wonderful 482 12:1 piece of racing art. I used to run a 68 4 speed car from the early 68 with the 289. A coupe midnight (Caspian) Blue with Black interior. I miss it so badly, I planned to put a 428 with as much valve as I could fit in it with a Offy PortOSonic and a 930 Holley. I had to sell it. I have gotten some of my vision back, but I really want a BBM 482 , BBM heads and BBM TunnelWedge 2x4 intake and just build one more. I m 62 now, but I have a 1965 Galaxie Fastback, and a C6, Locker 4.33. I want to try to drive again if not just down the 1/8. I love the FE and what you and the many wives of FE racers who have heard that Clarion call !

They still are in C/SA. I hope they allow the BBM block sleeved and the Edelbrocks Pro Port to factory cc pour specs and a CJ cc pour Intake The Molmar rods and the 2.2 rod journals so that there can be castings even if they require ballast. Really the BBMs would be best, sleeve the block, iron BBM heads and an intake all spec at 431 max would keep the class cars ticking a long time. I think they were thing about doing an Olds 64-67 400 block 4x 3.975, or a small journal 425, 4.125x 3.975 sleeved BBM iron block and aluminum head. That would bring C/SA back wouldn’t it? 64-67 442s hanging the hoops with the CJs !

A friend of mine had one just like this one except a four-speed. Back in the mid 80s when all of us started racing he started racing also. His first true love was car shows. He was always cleaning that car. After every run he would get every last bit of rubber off the car before staging for the next race.
He had blown his transmission up and was able to buy one used. The person he bought it from told him that he knew nothing about it that one of the members of our mustang club gave it to him said he had no more use for it that he was only running automatics.
One early Saturday morning a few of us went over to help him. When we were under the car he had the transmission that was getting ready to be put in down at the end of his driveway washing and cleaning it. Then he spray painted the transmission to match the one in the car.
Once the paint I had dried we put it back in. This one was as broken as the one we had taken out.
We all teased him and told him he had two of the prettiest broken transmissions.
It had taken a couple weeks to get it straightened out. Once we had his car up and running he never raced it again.
I love the car in the video. I'm actually considering building one for myself. My best memories from being young was at the track with all my friends. I meant lifetime friends and we have always been there for one another.
If it wasn't for my friends I would have never been able to work on cars like I do today. Not for a living I do it on the side since I'm retired. At one point of my life all of my friends were mechanics it seemed like that was the type of people racing at the track.
This video really brought back great memories. I really like all your other ones but this one I love.

Ive got a BBM block in the shop right now being honed out to 4.25 to replace my Low Riser block that cracked a cylinder and will be putting the Scat 468" internals back in that with new pistons....that will be going back in my 65 Galaxie 500 , hopefully this summer.

The FE has a racing all out xxxxx to the wall ability. I am still cooking with them. The 427 is so good, the BBM block can take everything you want to throw at it, the BBM and TFS heads intakes are the best they have ever been and if you need more call Jay Brown and he will make it for you! People don’t forget. The Windsor is not an FE, they have their purpose. Sadly they were caught in the malaise alphabet soup and they really threw the reputation out except for the pickup blocks , I have a lifetime of 390 blocks. The Godzilla is exciting but I can’t afford one. I want to do a 600 hp 550 ft lbs 390, and they are being done. Scott Foxwell did a BBM block Edelbrock headed engine at 850 hp that will run on E85. The gift that keeps on giving!

They should take that car just the two of them with a small trailer behind the car on a Drag and Drive event or even just a cruise like the Hot Rod Power Tour but I think they would do great in like Mid West Drags on the 4 day event or Sick Week where most of the tracks are in Florida except for one of them but Hot Rod Drag Week and Rocky Mountain Race Week would be the ultimate challenge for them all week long and over 1000 miles on average but take it on one of them events and join the 10.0 index class I think they would do great in and I almost forgot they can also go on the NMCA/NMRA drag and drive class or the Carolina Cruise event as well

Is the 3485lbs with him in it? He said he can run "as much as 300lbs ballast". Whats the weight of the car without ballast, no driver?
Im building my 68 fstbk now, curious on weight. Mine is very similar - 6pt cage, full interior, curious about weight with the big block vs a stroked windsor

Cant say I am familiar with the headers on this one. Were these a custom set ? I see they cross over like the older Dougs but the ones going to 3 and 7 take a different route than Dougs.... KInda strange looking but they seem to fit good and stay out of the way of front end travel.

I grew up with muscle cars, My dream car was at the time was to have this same model mustang. Found one while in high school in 1980 the next neighborhood over, but my father would not agree to me moving up to a V8.
