Three semitrailers collided yesterday afternoon (27 September, 14.19 h) at Holzwickede on the A1 towards Bremen at the end of a traffic jam. The accident resulted in a serious injury and high material damage. According to the first testimonies, the trucks of a 33-year-old from the Czech Republic and a 34-year-old from Macedonia had to stop at the end of a traffic jam. The driver of a following articulated lorry, a 42-year-old from Kaufbeuren, did not brake his articulated lorry in time and collided head-on with the rear of the Czech lorry. The force of the impact pushed this truck onto the Macedonian truck in front of it. The 42-year-old had to be taken to a hospital for in-patient treatment in an ambulance. The damage to property is estimated at around 125,000 euros. Due to the accident measures, traffic was temporarily considerably impaired.
