@@hojichaisfarsuperiortochai9309 yeah that's really unfortunate about the Boxster going electric. I'm a Z4 M40i owner here and that's ONE of the reasons why I chose it over the Boxster.
I have the 30i and you are absolutely right about the engine. For real world driving it’s excellent and way quicker than you expect. And 130 kilos lighter than the 40 so the handling is a little tighter. 👍😊
@@MasterMaster-eo2sn Weight - 30 is 130kg lighter, smaller engine so less weight close to the front axle may make for slightly better handling? But not massive, if you’re a ‘normal’ driver like me then you won’t notice. Speed - 40 is 1 second quicker 0-60. Engine noise - the 40i does sound great. And cost - 30i is cheaper for course. But they no longer sell the 20i in the UK - just the 20i (which probably feels a little under powered?) and the 40i.
2019 Z4 S Drive 30i owner here. Absolutely trouble free and super fun to drive. I don’t need anything more. Big bonus for me is that it easily fits one golf bag in the trunk with the top up or down. Not sure you can say that about any other roadster.
I owned a 2021 BMW Z4 sDrive 30i for two and a half years and it's such a fun experience. I've recently upgraded to the M40i (portimao blue with cognac interior lol) and its just that much better. Is the 30i enough? ABSOLUTELY... is the M40i more for the enthusiast ... ABSOFRICKENLUTELY!
I preferred losing the 200+ pounds on the front end. The 30I is the one to get for handling and tossing around. The 40i has too much added weight on the nose and less character. I found the M40i to be more of a Mustang than a true sports car. Both are great but the entusiasts car is the 30i. Now if they would add the stick to the 30i, I'd trade mine in.
This is a car I would love to take on a long road trip (Well actually the M40i) But we’re 6 years into this model and I think it needs at the very least a front and rear refresh to make it look more aggressive. The interior is beautiful and I love the power semi hard top. I like cars that are different and not mainstream and this is one of them.✌️
This has actually just been refreshed lol. You can barely see the difference, just a new grille, a bit more black in the headlights and a few more colors and alloys.
I bought a 2023 z4 with 4 cylinder. Sold my z06 corvette. Hands down love the z4. This car has all the fun. So comfortable and refined and packs an amazing thrill. Would not hesitate to recommend the 4 cylinder option.
Thanks for this; my 335 is seeing its end of life, and I was just checking out some BMWs at a dealership, and boy did this catch my eye. They pushed for the m40i but I was curious what folks had to say about the base engine.
The reason why this car and others like it don't get much of a notice/buzz is because most buyers in North America are idiots. If a vehicle offers a V8 and a V6 they go for the V8. I have no real idea why. This is North America. Unless you plan on taking the car to track every other weekend, why bother with the more powerful engine. What, you're looking to speed and get ticket after ticket by a speed camera or traffic cop? Vehicle manufacturers bush the top trim level HP because they know people will buy it without thinking. It's not a "I can't afford the buy more HP", it's why would I? So the M40i is nice, sure. But what are you using it for, really?
The B58 engine has the 48V Mild Hybrid on the M340i and M440i. Z4 40i and M240 do not have it yet but some are saying it might arrive on the 2024 models in some countries.
You somehow missed the most important part: is this a toy only suitable for dwarfs like Miata, or can a full-size Murican find enough space to be comfortable behind the wheel ?
I’m 6’5” and I fit. Snug but fit. I was so surprised and happy to discover that I could actually fit. Always loved these cars but like all roadsters I expected that I would need to chop off 6” of leg. But not with the Z4. Absolutely love mine!
It's funny how a driver can "feel" the drivetrain being "smoother and really really crisp" when there is no 48V mild hybrid equipped on this Z4 (or any Z4 so far) at all....kinda demonstrates the subjective illusions car reviewers are presenting : (
They went from too big of a kidney grill to too small. The front end looks squished. This looks like a car that a female real estate agent from Dallas Texas would buy.
@@danieldebono7116 I wouldn't call it an evolution. The 8 series is the best looking design from BMWs new designer. I would say he stole the design of the 6 series (previous bmw designer) and put an 8 series badge on it. The new designer is throwing out some ugly cars right now. Of course it's all opinion but...I mean they don't look half as elegant as they used to that's for sure.
We just don’t see many Z4’s in the UK and if we do they are really for women. 3 series and up are for the guys in convertible form. The only guy I know who once owned one is gay.

Exactly. 20 years ago there were V8 making the same amount of horsepower as four cylinders do now. Buyers here always think bigger is better.
Hi. Does it rotate with traction on still? ( I live in the uk) wet roads at times.
Interesting video it is. What is the height of driver?
6 foot 1 inch
There is no 48 volt hybrid in z4, what are you talking about???
That’s on the 6 cylinder I think. So, I believe this was wrong on the 4 cylinder. Maybe this is new for 24?
No 48 volt. I have an m40i. Best car I’ve ever owned but 48 volt only applies to Mercedes.

Sounds like someone didn't do their homework first.
"The pass-through to the main cabin is funny to me" Why is that funny? You use it for your skis.
Is the european Z4 m40i as good as the american one? Is it recommended?
42 less horsepower. Heard the engine levels out at 6k rpm instead of redline.
how tall are you?
This or Red or Purple or grey which colour do you like the most in z4 ?
this or purple with red interiour
Red, Blue, or White, is there a Yellow one, ? I haven't seen one, must be no.

I assume you're talking about the flickering? Then nothing... the video camera they're using is not synched to the same frame rate/refresh rate.
