HEY!! If I’m going to daydream about luxuries that will be permanently unattainable to me, why am I going to dream about anything less than a 75 footer?! ;)
Another reason why we love your channel, you really do cover all bases for us. This would be an ideal starter boat, someone should snap this up, looks like it’s been well looked after, that engine bay you could eat your dinner out of it. Nice one Nick
“If you’re floating, you’re boating” and what a great way to get afloat! Diesel economy, trailerable, room for a weekend or just blasting down the coast towing some toys! We started our boating life on a 24’er and it was a brilliant intro into the joy of life afloat!
Right away before even seeing the inside I can tell this is the perfect boat especially for beginners who like to party. This boat rests on a beer keg, sold!
Beauty Starter Upper boat. And CLEAN. The engine and surrounds are very tidy, indeed. And the interior is sooo just right for quick get aways after a long work week. Thanks for the find - someone is soon to be a LUCKY boater - have FUN.
With only 337 hours on it,that boat is as new as it looks.Barely broken in,and well kept. Some lining has come loose but a good days work and it is new again too. What a great bargain. The ship has everything you need for a great day on the water, and even an overnight occasionally.Thank you Nick. That's what the higher end ships are like on the lakes near me.(and there's a boatload of lakes here)
A days work on a boat? Hahaha have you had a boat before mate? I'm an actual boat builder and it took me the entire Wednesday and Thursday last week refinishing two 1m long mahogany grab handles. All I had to do was get the shape back, epoxy the old screw holes and cracks then paint them with clear coat 3 times. Two days it took mate and I do this for a living, have done for 3 decades. A day on a boat you'd be lucky to clean the gel coat up in a kitchen area.
This was the very first boat I ever went on and was an excellent introduction to boating. As you say, Fletcher’s were always very capable boats in British waters.
Nice review, however the prices are insane this days. I paid the same amount for brand new Beneteau flyer 6.6 full equipped with cabin and 150HP Suzuki 4 years ago.
Right at the end of the video, as you go forward to the helm to sit down, we can see there's a bracket underneath the wheel. I'd guess that's for the VHF, leaving the bracket above for a chart plotter. That's a lot of boat in 22 feet!
Yeah, new linings and perhaps have mock teak decking added to the cockpit would lift that straight off. New internal upholstery and replace the dashboard infill would be good too. Shouldnt cost a fortune.
From a packaging point of view, we had a Falcon 23SPC which was only a foot longer, but the use of space beat the Fletcher hands down…… I would have preferred a diesel, but the knarly old petrol V6 gave us 33 knots clean with a duo prop leg. The cockpit was larger, more spacious, twin helm seat with the fridge under the seat squab, a usable wet room head/sea toilet and a mid cabin double, which was a squeeze but snug and useable. Again, only a foot longer, but way more boat (older and far cheaper)…… and the earlier Falcon 22 was, as it suggests a 22 foot without the bathing platform and transom door. Our 23SPC also had a rudimentary galley, hob, grill and sink with calorifier and Erberspacher diesel heating………. These Falcons were built in Wroxham Norfolk and many still remain…… never regretted ours 🙂🇬🇧
I had a Fletcher 19 sports cruiser in 1999. It had a tonneau and camper cover. Mine initially had a Merc 115 two stroke , later replaced by a Suzuki 115 4 stroke. Great little starter boat. I had fitted a removable ski/wake board pole. Sold it in 2005, for boat share .....Sunseeker Portofino 32. Now as you know NB a V39 still sharing.
@@2wheelsr2wheels39 gosh, can't remember. But it was the right thing to do. Reliability and efficiency. It was and still is afine motor so I am informed by the buyers who are friends of mine.
It would be great to see a sea trial on a boat like this showing us beginners the type of the boating experience we could expect at this level. (That might encourage a few of us to get off our arses and take the plunge ;-)
That's a great first boat, everything you need for a day or weekend out at sea. Great price compared to the usual yachts on here, but that's what is great about your tours you cover everything. Nice tour Nick thank you.
Great video Nick. Thanks for showing us such a variety of boats. I saw quite a few Moonrakers and Birchwoods over the Bank Holiday- they still look interesting All the best.
Hi Nick… thank you for this review. This exactly the type of boat for beginners should consider. In my early days boating, I owned a Fletcher 19gts cuddy cabin, basically the same as this boat but a bit smaller. and it was absolutely terrific. The performance was excellent. I had an board portals and wet bar. Essential IMO. Very easy boat to manage as well. As a first, 2nd or 3rd boat, it is as good as it gets. Value for money and overall quality is extremely good… Possibly the best in its class. Thank you for considering people on “budgets” for boating… means a lot Nick 🙏
We just sold the very same model, it was our first boat and was great for the 4 years we had her. Yamaha engine and stern gear was very good and reliable.
I remember going on a fletcher years ago and we got close to 40 knots out of her, these British built boats are an absolute flying machine, well worth £23 K nick!
I need a good size boat to run up and down the Tennessee river. I’d love to have a galley, master cabin, and guest cabins. I want room to entertain but also fit the big river
Nice boat, I never heard of Fletcher, probably because it's British. This boat reminds me of the Sessa Oyster 22, which even has a 2nd bed below the stairs into the cabin. These Sessa Oyster 22, 24/25 are very interesting as well because they are like trailerable mini yachts. Thanks for the vid!
Just sold my first boat, very similar to this, a Sea Ray 200OV. We had the best 4 years on it. Reasonably inexpensive to keep. Servicing costs were about £1500 a year, (did have a £2.5k bill after an overhaul) and was pretty decent on fuel (petrol). Cheap boating! Loved every minute.
@@richd1047 No probs. insurance (guernsey) was around £250 for the year (no boating experience, other than local pilotage course) Fuel, when it was 120p ish per litre, I was probably spending maybe £120 a month during the season, and I used it ALOT! I suspect you'd spend near that now with the diesel.
Seeing the heads and how many there are is my favourite part 😊 not far to walk in the middle of the night to use it on this boat 👍maybe remember to pack the air freshener
How clean is that engine!!! Fletchers were and are excellent boats and its such a shame that they had poor management because the sea keeping qualities of all their range was always great and such fun. I've had a few in my day but my all time best was my 199 with a V6 Yamaha 220, awesome boat and a genuine 70mph machine, and boy have fletchers increased in value now!
I remember when these were new at the boat show, still would love a diesel version, but now have kids…. They did a couple more bigger versions, but hard to find…. Awesome boat for a first time buyer
Hey Nick that's a great starter boat for sure and the exterior is in excellent condition, The engine looks like new but might have been reconditioned so all in all a great weekender but I missed where the crew cabin is 😁 have a good one bud
Take it from a boat builder, Your first boat and your last boat will be similar in size. It's the bit in-between that goes all wrong 😂 And btw that's not a myth. The amount of guys I know that went from say a 19ft cuddy fishing boat all the way up to huge things, got bored of not being able to take them anywhere so eventually sold up and ended up happy as Larry with a 20 odd footer. A lot of people give up boating when the larger boats annoy them, which they enevitably will do. They just totally give up rather than downscale to where it was enjoyable for them. I could have any sized boat I liked and I only have a 26footer. Not interested in junk boats that cost millions, they are still junk just you're paying more for it. There's only two companies boats I would buy with my own money now. They all cheapened them out as far as build quality and materials are concerned. There's a company that Nick has recently done a vid about and I'm forever fixing the delamination on them, huge things costing millions and the owners are scared to use them now so they shift hands like nobody's business. Older boats refurbished is how everyone should be going until they start making them right again.
@@bigduphusaj162 thank you for that reply even if you posted on my comment by accident I enjoyed reading it and unfortunately the same can be said with everything these days nothing is built to last anymore it seems it's all about the cheapest now, have a great day bud 👍
Hi Nick, Thats a nice start of the week this Fletcher 22 GTS a great yacht to start boating you are right the cozy cabine the fridge in the copit and a big engine for the size of the boat Thanks again Nick a nice show ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
❤ Great post! Love hearing about smaller boats for beginners. I’m hearing due to inflation, cost of gas, etc. a lot of used boat owners are selling. Currently a buyers market w/ many options and competitive prices. Love to hear (and see) your thoughts on this. Keep up the good work! 👍
Oh youve spoiled us over the last few years.. from the outside it looks nice and acceptable, and the inside although a little dated and tired is certainly a lot of fun and Id def enjoy spending many long weekends relaxing :)

For 20 yrs old it looks like it as hardly been used or very well looked after and that engine compartment looks pristine. I'd love it but the wife wouldn't like the idea of the chemical toilet under the lounge seat cushion. A lot of boat for the money
I love the social loo! Looks like a great fun way to spend the day and it's ready to go, I think it could do with a bit spending on the interior but as a 'rolling [floating] restoration' it's got some charm! Is there a pull out shower somewhere?
Nice boat but those rear seats that wrap around look next to useless. The sides appear to disappear under the back bolster, and the extension for the engine bay makes the area of seating available look pretty skinny. Redesign those seats and it looks a great boat to invest in.
It's easy to get spoiled looking at new expensive boats but that looks like a lot of fun and a reasonable price.
I agree it is a nice boat, but the price is too high..!
Spoiled? Nick's channel has conditioned me to believe any yacht under a £1m is only fit for sailing through sewage.
HEY!! If I’m going to daydream about luxuries that will be permanently unattainable to me, why am I going to dream about anything less than a 75 footer?! ;)
It's nice but I wouldn't pay that price. That's a premium retail price on that boat right now. 60% of that would be a fair deal

Great video again! I am looking for a first boat but then as a liveaboard. Preferably with 2 heads, for guests. Would a, say, 40 footer be too big?
Can you use a IPad with some kind of app for navigation etc instead of buying Garmin screens
I think at £25000 it would be better value. Don’t see that at £35k with sagging headlining etc when you can get a Sealine s24 or similar.

Nope.
