I used to like all that white, but now I realize it just reminds me of a hospital. Very sterile and cold. This house needs some wood and moldings to warm it up. I don't mind light and airy, but it doesn't feel comfortable when there's no warmth at all.
There's also no depth. When she pointed at the 'curved wall', I was like... "where?". It all gets lost in the blank space. It has insane asylum vibes to it, and then the pops of bright color and weird shapes just make it look unhinged.
I was so excited to see this house, after their stunning house in OZ that was featured here, but this was disappointing, I thought the artwork comical, and it didn't feel like a comfortable home to live in, more so a place to make money from at the cost of feeling like home.
beautiful houses with uncomfortable looking chairs 😳. This would have been a great opportunity to showcase some great Balinese art? Indonesia has the most beautiful carved artwork for doors, furniture, wall art- would have complemented the white beautifully.
the comment about them just loving to watch the farmers in the rice fields while sipping on morning coffee was really off putting. Bali's in a water crisis bc of tourism development and western influencers flocking to indonesia and other countries to live out their luxury fantasies on the cheap. stop the gentrification of Asia!
Yeah, that was some weird ass elite class privilege for sure…. I just love watching people slave away in the hot sun in the mud doing back breaking work.
Yeah this level of wealth is honestly disgusting, especially considering the level of poverty in Indonesia. I doubt they paid the workers fairly at all.
So good to see Sophie back! I am a huge 3 birds girl - hoping Sophie moves back to aus and does another Aus house because the last one was fab in that beautiful bush landscape!! I do worry 3 birds could become a little bit tricky for the general public to relate to just with the amount of money that seems to be behind some of these properties/projects these days…. Hoping the money and the lavish lifestyle some of these homes portray don’t put people off! I’m sure the girls know what they’re doing though and just love what they are doing for the most part! Especially love the friendship and girl power xx
I loved the last build with Soph too and enjoy her instagram immensely. I like seeing this family build their portfolio, yes it is very luxe but they are betting on themselves and really going for it and thriving with their artistry etc. I’m shocked at all the negative comments. I take it for what it is- it’s a risk they’ve taken that’s paid off and they are going the more luxe route with accommodation and lifestyle. I can appreciate all kinds of builds
I hate the sofa and chairs in the living room. The furniture is sitting on the floor, and it looks weird. The living room furniture does not match the rest of the house. This is my least favorite house on this channel. My favorite is the dog.
I really liked Sophie and Bell but I'm really sickened by this new colonialism that forever changes the economy and home security for local people for mostly if not always white, sorry but it is a fact, people bringing dollar amounts and resources that take more and more property from local people, who usually end up commuting to hospitality and service job in service to these same people, higher property taxes, fewer resources and lowered aspirations. They see foreigners take up space in luxurious homes and they cycle more and more into tourism dependent economies. Australia already had a horrible history and present of Aboriginal removal and marginalizing...and now they and all other foreigners to these beautiful countries do this in some bastardized version of "finding themselves", "healing" or plain I like it there so I stay there mentalities. Just because you make relationships or share kind exchanges, doesn't mean those people don't go home feeling further marginalised in their own homes or lost sense of self. Even language about high end versus real life living is gross. As if their intentions are to cater again to your non native wants. I'm not into this sort of thing and it is disappointing. Nothing is aspirational when someone else cannot envision that for their people in their home. Look at what has been happening in Hawaii, even look at White Lotus season 1, if the report is too scary for you. Whitewashing ones entire existence so you can "vacation forever" is gross. You can't play cool and laid back when you know you have an upper hand and used it.
I understand that interior design is personal and it looks like this woman really like her "beautiful villas", so good for her! I don't get why the second you go to Bali you forget the word house and start using the word villa but anyway. So much white literally blinded me from the screen, so I don't want to know what is like in person. The colorful accents are just not enough to break all the whiteness. What bothers me in this design is that is modern and funky now with all the curves and everything but I'm %100 certain that this trend and very transient and after a couple of years it will be GONE! Then they'll have to sledge hammer half of the purposely build in furniture and transform it into the next trend. Everything aside, this is not the first influencer who brags about watching the farmers do the hard farming job in the rice fields while they sip their coffee... So colonial, so arrogant. What happened in Bali is just heartbreaking. Seeing the locals diminished to servents to the rich western influencers... Their farming land taken away to build just another all white "villa" which will be rented out for $1000 a night. The ricefield she loves so much will likely be gone in a few years and another concrete "'villa" will be erected just in front of them... Until Bali is "whitewashed" for good. 😔
Es inquietante ver como ricos extranjeros toman islas para hacer su segunda residencia, en España sucede lo mismo con las islas Canarias y Mallorca, una pena que se permita esto
Wow..... once again all the people that say all those white furnishings and its not livable the amount of money here means full time cleaners and maintenance.sit back and just enjoy😊😊😊xx
this is honestly so weird. nothing about this house celebrates the location it's in and the comments about watching the rice farmers being therapeutic are so out of touch.....
I'll miss Lana and Bonnie, but I have to unsubscribe. I admire your work ethic but I find the over the top wealth and homogeny of the projects are just too much to take these days. All the best!
I have to agree with other posters, fed up of seeing massive houses that are too far removed from my real life to be style inspiration. Sometimes nice to see but not much i can apply and take away to my own life. I also dont like the white Bali stone meets kitsch-chinoiserie look.
😬 I don’t think the farmers appreciate you sipping coffee from your villa and watching them work. I recommend appreciating the view and keeping the rest to yourself as what you said was in poor taste.
Please, Please, Please! Expand your vocabulary for the word ‘BEAUTIFUL’ - there are many other adjectives you can use. Not just this episode - all three birds overuse the word beautiful - it detracts from the lovely work you do, it is such a high standard but overusing this word detracts from the brilliant work you do and the amazing way you all work together. I really enjoy 3🐦 but it needs to be said. 💛

@@o0Theresa0o Totally agree. If it wasn't for the beautiful view outside, I'd feel like a patient in a mental ward in that place.
Yeah the curved shower area was lost in all that white@@o0Theresa0o
But it could be anywhere. Where is Bali in those villas?
The dalmation looks great with the house :)
Bali is loosing its identity
It felt like the rice fields were left for tourists attraction.
Just little rice fields for tourists.
I was so excited to see this house, after their stunning house in OZ that was featured here, but this was disappointing, I thought the artwork comical, and it didn't feel like a comfortable home to live in, more so a place to make money from at the cost of feeling like home.

Yes, quite disturbing and careless to think it’s therapeutic to watch hard working people
Yeah, that was some weird ass elite class privilege for sure…. I just love watching people slave away in the hot sun in the mud doing back breaking work.
Literally it was giving Tone Deaf to the max 🫠
I thought the same. "Relaxing watching the farmers" gross gross gross
Completely agree. Really disgusted by this whole thing. It’s so unbelievably tone deaf.
I don't find these big rich houses interesting at all. I miss when you did small home renos that we could relate to.
I thought the house was modest I live in lager house than that how funny
Yeah this level of wealth is honestly disgusting, especially considering the level of poverty in Indonesia. I doubt they paid the workers fairly at all.
@@hazel1960 You missed my point. I would rather they do small cottage and three or four bedroom Australian suburban homes we can relate to.
@@ihatehandles111 wow, I hope you can back up this accusation you just pulled out of nowhere
Girl, it’s an air bnb. It’s for tourists. Go build a small cottage to live in then

Well, that was weird and off putting…
Absolutely beautiful!! Such attention to detail. And I just love all the pops of fun colour to lift the mood.
A bit strange to call the house La Playa in Bali, no? Seems very much out of context. Beautiful nonetheless.

I love SO MUCH about this but my biggest takeaway is that I need to immediately paint all my art frames in bold bright stripes. I'm obsessed with that

Wow! @ like the interior design home absolutely really beautiful... I LOVE IT.. ❤. thank you for Sharing your Home in Bali..
Most beautiful home on the internet! *Goals!! Left me with so much inspiration. Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you for sharing ❤
Sophie, nice to see you back, thanks for sharing

Bravo ! C’est magnifique !
I love what Sophie does, I love her style.
Absolutely STUNNING!!
Watching this video was like stepping into a tropical paradise! I was in awe of the beautiful design and serene atmosphere of the La Playa Villas.
OH FFS. The last thing we need in Bali is more developers making more all-white sh*tbox holiday homes.
You clearly didn’t listen the house was already in place
Agreed!! I just commented almost the same thing before even seeing your comment lol
Omg!!!!! ❤❤
Truely stunning! ❤ I love the minimal, simplistic vibe but still so much texture, character & full of life ✨
This house is clean but not cozy
You need a soul to make a home cozy... this is soulless lol.
Put Some big colorfull old marrocan kelims on the Floor and it Will work better with connecting the white house with colorfull furniture❤❤❤❤
This is so amazing ❤ Sophie and Bell are mad talented !!
stop ruining Bali for the locals
Helping the tourist industry and paying tax in Bali isn’t ruining it for the locals …
How rude with theses people spending money the locals wouldn’t have work done like this
What a negative small minded view.
Seriously!!! F this. No one needs these ridiculous all-white mega mansions. Come on.
Immigration is an issue everywhere.
Wow..... once again all the people that say all those white furnishings and its not livable the amount of money here means full time cleaners and maintenance.sit back and just enjoy😊😊😊xx
Absolutely beautiful spaces
Why don't any Bali villas have dishwashers? Seems crazy to me. The last thing you want to don holidays is wash dishes.

Does anyone know where Sophie’s shirt is from ??
Hi lovely, it's from Silk Laundry. xx
Thank you so much !!!

The dalmation had more color than the house.

oof i don’t like this 😢 maybe too much concrete?
Strong test 38
Rice field view is great till they start spaying pesticides all over it....
