SCP-1158 is an airborne, carnivorous arboreal predator superficially resembling a very large olive-drab Portuguese man-o-war (Physalia physalis), particularly in its colonial polyp attributes.
Research on deceased specimens has shown that SCP 1158 ’s large, four (4) meter pneumatophore is filled with hydrogen (thought to result from bacterial decay), providing lift. While airborne, SCP1158 nestles itself high in the canopy layer, allowing its feeding and detecting polyps to hang down through the understorey to the forest floor. These polyps are effectively camouflaged among the various vines and branches present. The dactylozooid polyp bundles are, to a limited degree, prehensile. SCP-1158 has not been observed at an altitude greater than the canopy emergent layer, seemingly preferring to remain silently hidden beneath the foliage.
Prey appears limited, so far, to mammals and reptiles with a mass of approximately 50kg or greater. Once a victim makes contact with dactylozooid polyps lying on the ground or adjacent to a tree, nematocysts in the polyp strands inject a paralyzing neurotoxin while nearby polyp threads wrap around the victim's extremities.

My theory, though probably not true...is Dr.Bob is a SCP himself.
Or he simply has no enemies
@@model0.519 fair enough
He's defo an SPC
This one brings up an interesting question within the SCP universe - in cases like this, what exactly is it that separates an Anomaly from just a fucked up undiscovered species?
I can't remember it was Dr Bob or one of the other Scpv video makers but The general idea is the group concept of normality. Or rather the collective understanding of normality.
It's not normal for jellyfish to fly in the air, it's not normal for them to grow to such a massive size, etc. So the SCP foundation, the GOC the horizon initiative and other such groups do their best to through their own methods hideaway or destroy anomalous things (for good or ill)
@@jaredstar Ahh, interesting! So it has more to do with public perception.

18:28 anaesthetics don't work on pigs. That's why doing surgery on an injured pig is Extremely difficult. Also why this didn't go so well.
Then why the heck would SCP foundation didnt think of that?
@@johanplayz4904 not sure, but maybe there are some education lacking xD
@@littleender100I agree, some of their "scientific experiments" are just "send a D class there, see him dying, repeat the process". Science lvl 1000.
As a real scientist I can prove you that this is exactly how we work
Where did you get that information? I'm pretty sure it's wrong.
There are some complications but it will work on them.
@@DGneoseeker1 well, I got the Info from a show, but I looked it up later so. I pasted it here: When it comes to anaesthesia, pigs are one of the most difficult animals to deal with, owing in particular to the huge variation in body weight among individuals and breeds, their reluctance to be handled and complications in drug administration.

They are also tomb raider , indiana Jones and uncharted references so awesome
Oh yeah, I was so stuck up on the Tomb Raider and Uncharted references I must not have noticed.
There's also an Indiana Jones reference with the guys nickname!!!

I love watching Dr. Bob at 12 in the morning, it's so peaceful for some reason
Based and same
As an Australian, I really appreciate the mention of our most ferocious predator, drop bears. Thank you for spreading information of the anomalous and other deadly threats in a fun, interesting way Dr Bob!
Yea drop bears are interesting critters. Man do they really hate tourists though.
It’s interesting how most animals have evolved resistance/immunity to this so called SCP, as well as being one of the few SCPs that equally falls prey to other non-anomalous animals.
Plus, does anyone think that there might be any connection with SCP 312- Atmospheric Jellyfish- with SCP 1158 here?
Lol piggy got revenge for all the people and animals who were unpleasantly killed. Go Babe!
Babe? Naaahhhh bro tf up with you💀
@wildskelly Nahh bro you musty to defend the animal killers
Just as a quick note, machetes are very useful tools for clearing foliage. It's basically their purpose. The "clearly not compensating for anything" quip was out of line in this case.
it was a joke about how men who try to act manly to impress women are compensating for their "underwhelming" size.
I love it when dr.bob use to get scps in real life. How adorable it is !😊😊❤
There’s also another Scp jellyfish that flies in the sky that being Scp 312
My heart when I heard the name Evie OML
Killer Jellyfish? D20 modern, the modern variant of 3.5 D&D, had a creature in the Menace Manual (Monster Manual) called the Acid Rainer that is essentially a flying gargantuan killer jelly fish. They used to be much higher in atmosphere and never interacted with humans, but since airplanes became common they would accidentally kill them, which forced them to live lower.
Aussie here; Drop bears hate Vegemite, hence why we all have a jar at home
I don't think I've seen this SCP before. Or at least this Jellyfish related SCP.
This SCP is like any other SCPs that uses a form of mimicry or a trap. Only with a Jellyfish that lives out of the water. It'll be terrifying to run into these types of Jellyfish if they really exist in the wild.
Well done on covering this SCP. Keep up the great work on covering SCPs we may not heard and/or know much about. And take care!
This is honestly one of the most horrifying and downright disturbing SCPs I think I’ve ever seen..
18:42 *the only thing they fear is you start playing*
This needs more views and likes, these videos are well told and animated. These SCP's are really interesting!
It's interesting to me that they have the prey stand on their hind legs and wave their arms around, since that only really works with humans
I'm guessing in most cases it's meant to frighten away potential threats while they're feeding, but with humans it just lures them in
Perhaps it originally evolved as a way to lure in monkeys and apes? They are both native to jungle habitats and have a tendency to stand on their hindlimbs from time to time.
Judging from this clip, normal pigs are considered the natural enemy of this SCP.
I had forgotten about this one I like the work done on this one but it also reminded me of another SCP Jellyfish like this but they live much higher they disguise themselves like clouds and stalk a person who becomes their target but they only feed if you look up and see what they really are.
The jonesy hate was crazy
1:21 scp 343: What are you talking about? That thing has absolutely nothing to do with me.
What do you mean
Scp 343 is God as in the abrahamic God, or possibly an obscenely powerful reality bender who believes himself to be God. And that's a time marker I used It was said that the artifact they had found contained the wrath of God.
Long story short I was making a joke
One of the greatest SCP animators by far. I love how creative you are and how fast you can post new videos. Keep the good work.
R34 artists gonna have a field day with this scp
This scp and scp 5411 are 100% justified in whatever they do to protect their home
I appreciate channels like this that are still posting scps in their own videos
Season Opener
What scp you think dr bob and bob squad should make video about next?
1918 or 2031 would be nice.
It could be the pigs high fat content. Commercial pigs are genetically breed for their meat and fat. Unlike wild boar, domestic pigs are more fatter and bulkier.
But, the Jellyfish are food for all pig species.
You forgot the part where to discourage koala bears, you have to have a knife with Vegemite above your head.
Finally not a compilation.
You so based o’connolly and evie from O’Conner and Eve from 1999 The Mummy and it’s sequels. I was a huge fan of the first two movies after they were released so I am very familiar with the characters
18:28 Everything in the animal kingdom no matter how bad you think you are is weak to something. Fish > seal > Shark > Orca > humans
There actually haven't been any cases of orcas killing people before, despite their name of "killer whales."
Maybe they're just TOO good at hiding it... 🤔
Bob Squad!
If those things are filled with hydrogen , it’d be quite easy to destroy them . A flaming arrow well aimed and they would go off with quite a bang
tbh them being able to roam around that much of the world for so long (as they put it they explored more than most people could in their entire lifetime) the fact they hadnt seen tons of anomalies by then is crazy
I love how we go so long in the dark, cutting out before any reveal, very expertly done
*edits* And how informative it is, teaching us real life facts too!
Dam I missed this guy
When youre high up
"Bro, don't look down"
When you find yourself in rainforest
"Bro..don't look up"
Who here wants to see SCP-5094?
Nice video thank you for posting!! 😊
I'm not going to lie. I appreciate the world building of creating these characters with backstories just to give their death's more weight.
Awsome man! Keep up the awsome work!
Finally the pigs fight back. The scp always sacrifices them but not this time
Ok that pig part was awesome. 💀
Aubrey almost cleared the whole floor.
The pig be like: ooh chew toy.
I think there's a mistake on the title, the semivisible man is scp-1058, not scp-1158
Great video though :)
Keep up the good work 👏 you are legendary dr.bob
Is this thing really anomalous? It just comes across as a newly discovered predatory species. This feels like something you don't need to 'contain' and keep secret. It's a scientific curiosity that could easily be known of by the public.
They are classified as anomalous because:
1. Their habitat is much different from similar counterparts. The normal man'o'wars usually live in the ocean, while this one lives in rainforests.
2. Their hunting behaviour is way too advanced for an anomalous animal. Perfect camouflage and toxin is one thing, it can even use the corpses of its victims to lure other potential victims, which isn't normal for other kinds of animals.
3. They die to a pig. A literal pig.
@@blueskyalchemist623 I don't deny its dangerous, but so are a lot of animals. Is anything thats just different labelled anomalous by the SCP foundation?
@@eyokirvideos7400 I think it's mainly the way they reproduce or hunt that makes them anomalous.
Like for this one, the way these things hunt is definitely way too advanced for an average animal in the wild. Camouflage and neurotoxin are commonly seen, but not using the victim's corpse to trick other things to come.
@@blueskyalchemist623 There are plenty of animals that use the remains of animals as tools for various tasks. Ourselves amongst them. Is this thing incredibly dangerous? Yes. But frankly it just comes across to me an undiscovered animal that could just as easily be managed by scientists who study them without the need for the SCP foundation to get involved, outsides of a need to conceal anything out of the ordinary
@@eyokirvideos7400 Remember that a lot of the things are considered "anomalous for humans", so "ourselves" isn't a valid example.
Also talking about the animals that using the corpses of their victims for other purposes, the only things I can think of are the zombie fungi, worms and such. However, they usually do that within the insect kingdom only, not something you would expect to target almost all kinds of faunas, humans included.
In addition, the anomalous classification is usually used when the extent of their "anomalies" are yet to understand within the boundary of conventional science that humans are used to. As soon as they are explainable via conventional scientific methods, they are classified as "explained" and thus become non-anomalous.
10:34 I would do that too if encountering this Euclid
