PLEASE do more of this. Maybe even upload these like a podcast. Guitars, even clicks or song ideas, just WHATEVER, as long as the conversations are like this. plz
I get the criticism of the old school view of playing faster lines off the grid. But honestly it feels more fluid at times. Both have their place. You can take this all that to quaver rhythms that stretch across the beat or bar in a less gridded way.
Very new to your channel, but loving everything I’ve seen. Guitar was my first primary instrument, but I made a switch over to marching percussion over a decade ago and it’s been really interesting to return to guitar after the fact. When you mentioned the Erich Johnson fives picking pattern, it immediately reminded me of different fivelet sticking permutations. I’ve never really considered drum sticking and guitar picking patterns to be analogous before, but this video unintentionally opened up a bit of a new world for me. Thanks for all the great content!
This is amazing content! No joke, I've dreamt about doing exactly what you two are doing for like 2 years. Having people ask how I come up with the riffs or leads, or practice techniques, or anything guitar related. If there's more of this, it'll be my new favorite content on UA-cam!
This is legit the most interesting conversation on odd groupings and quintuplets I've ever heard👍
"I know what I'm doing tonight" 😂

Great stuff, thank you again for the great playing ideas.
Everything you guys do is pure gold. Thanks
I'm new to your channel and this video made me subscribe! This form of guitar education feels so natural, like working with a teacher. So good!

I love this stuff. It’s really good insight into things that I don’t really think about but I notice.

AS A DRUMMER: everything is divisible by 2’s or 3’s… including very intricate 15/4, 21/8, 7/8, etc…
I've heard Bryan Beller break it down like that as well.
Great format for a show.
last lick was delish

20 minutes of me getting distracted with those guitars and having to rewind😂😂especially that carlsbad OMG

They’re both playing Iconic guitars. Joseph’s is a Solana VM. Josh’s is a Carlsbad VM.
