I have a 250SE W111 in original condition - My dad bought it brand new, I was brought home from hospital in it when I was born, and it was our family's daily driver for many, many years. Unable to sell due to sentimentality, I put her in storage for 6 years and just now am sitting down to start researching a restoration as we have our first child on our way and I would love nothing more to bring her home in "the old girl" just as I was. This has really got me inspired me to do the best restoration we possibly can (given our limited budget unfortunately!), so thanks for the amazing video!
Yes totally understand . Tho while in storage hope the car was on jack stands and not standing on the tire and you took the spark plugs and put oil on the pistons and reinstalled the s.plugs and taped up the exhaust and intake duct . Or did you start it weekly . I remember placing a 59 , 220 convertible into storage for a year every year in Pasadena California for a good customer that lives in Monaco and the car was driven every year, tho it always was serviced before they arrived and the brake fluid and oil was changed including a new battery. Good luck with your beautiful 250SE .

Art on four wheels. Merzedes Benz..one of the most beautifull cars ever made. Respect for this resoration, i reckon the many hours of work put into it...eyecandy..! You should be proud of this exellent restoration...

So nice to see a coupé (or convertible) that doesn't have the chrome wheel arch trim-exclusive to the 300 SE models only - pretentiously , and incorrectly, fitted. Lovely car, beautiful restoration.
*Magnificent* is the perfect word; I had a schoolmate in college in SE Asia with 3 MB in his garage. I was joking when the tough decision each morning was not where to get coffee but which color MB do I drive to school with. His father also got the later models, but still from that same era.

The subliminal power of the hood ornament was key to retaining customer loyalty. After owning a Mercedes you could not drive any other car without feeling that "something is missing". You could not figure out what but it was simply the three-pointed star in front of you leading you in your journeys and instilling in you a sense of quality and poise.

I would go for the 1968 280 SE but the model is the same except other (double vertical) headlights and a few upgrades but to me this is the most beautiful car ever made!!! When you're sitting in this car it is so much more then just driving, it is a very special experience unlike any other car in the world, there is nothing better then the Mercedes W111!!!
I used to drive my dad's 200D 4 doors way back in the early 80s'. I love the handling and what fascinates me is the fuel cap underneath the number plate. We call this the Batman car because of its tail fins.
I feel like I am sinning when I look at that car. Stunning. Like lusting after a woman, yet not in your loins, but wanting the recognition of owning one.
Beautifully restored, very nice video! Just a little side-note, the 280 SE and 250 SE hadn't many differences. The 280 SE's were however at tad more reliable and were a bit cheaper to maintain. Lovely work!
