As much as I loved the monster misguided and table technician I'm glad you won't do them anymore. You deserve to do something that doesn't completely destroy you and that makes you happy. I'll rewatch the old videos whenever I need dnd inspiration.

I have been following you on twitter and "in-the-know" ever since...I don't remember. but this was a good video anyways for those who have not been keeping up with the expanded Kanekuo-universe.

While i do think its a shame that you great mechanic videos are gonna stop being made, its good that you are doing what you love.
i feel like as a sendoff to all the only mechanism videos i would love to see a small book of ideas for sale in the future.
something just to quickly check with and fill in to make certain things from your table technician vids like the mutations and the prosthetics.
maybe a book for each series so far with advice, idk it just seems like a nice sendoff to the old parts of the channel

Word of advice as somebody learning pole dancing. Taking good care of your wrists is one of the most important part about pole fitness and you need to do regular exercises and stretches for your wrists to improve. It can be work in and of itself but it is incredibly worth it given how much it improves daily activities like carrying heavy bag of groceries OR anything involving the hands.
I highly recommend possibly getting a coach for this kind of thing cause they can make sure you don't injure yourself AND manage to have stronger wrists as well as many other useful info.
I do hope you manage to improve your wrists and hope you take care of your own health!

I know what you said about MM stopping but have you had any thoughts of basically combining it with your Crit-Role animatics idea creating a mini series of MM Wildmount I’d love a transition from Fjord/Travis screaming about a seahag to a barkeep explaining the tale of Mighty Nein fighting it and what the monster they fought was. Anyway loved your stuff though and though, please don’t hurt your hand again, I am really enjoying By the Book so thank you for making it and I’m supporting it on Patreon.

Came here after remembering that this channel exists and finding that it’s basically gone into hibernation for the past two years. I am just glad it still exists along with all the videos, and that he is making art still elsewhere. Do what you love dude and I hope we might see you here again one day (perhaps with that prologue animatic comic you mentioned).

always been a huge fan of your technical videos, not because of the numbers business, but because of the interesting, creative things you come up with. as long as you keep having a genuine love for the world you create in By the Book, i can't complain!
You do what you enjoy. I love your D&D videos and what pulled me to your channel originally was the Fluffernutter and Nott getting high. I absolutely love your Kobold videos and decided to make a Kobold myself for a game, that did not last long, but I have strong attachments to the character. He is going to be introduced in the world I am building as a powerful Cleric of the Forge that runs a small blacksmithing shop.

These struggles are real and I do not blame you for taking as long as you did. Mostly since I've done it myself before, but that's the price you have to pay as a content creator.
A pity, but yeah, do what's best for you man. Better than destroying your ability to do what you love. That said, wouldn't hurt to test out the comic video idea--though WELL after you've made more material. Otherwise I worry it could push you to make more comic pages faster just to get videos out faster and OH GOD HOW IS YOUR HAND CRYING LIKE THAT??

Honestly, I quite liked your by-the-numbers thing in your early videos, I follow a lot of DnD people that already tell enough stories. I enjoyed your variants on classic monsters and such.

Glad to hear from you, you got me into d&d, hope everything goes well and works out!
So you may have tried stuff like this already, but set yourself a schedule. Keep yourself to working only 40 hours (even if you KNOW you could do more) and use the excess energy on a non hand destroying hobby. 40 hours a week may keep you from putting lots of stuff "out" but working much more then that you are looking at the same issues you ran into. I'd cap myself at 60 hours in a week and only do that much work two weeks in a row to get something with a tight deadline.
If nothing else just start keeping a log of how long it took you to do something. It will let you know next time how many hours had been too many letting you improve your work-life balance. I'm not you, and I don't know the work you do like you, but please don't throw away your ability to care/create just to put something out.
I found your channel by looking at your (completely excellent) CR animatics, but I'm delighted to have found out that a) you're doing more cool shit that I'm gonna check out and b) you're taking care of yourself and your health, rare to see and good to see. Also, your twitter link isn't working, has your username changed at all? Cos I'mma follow the hell out of that if it works
