For anyone taking offence here and slating Rod for these comments, him and Elton have had this little thing going against eachother for years and years now, I forget which way exactly but one calls the other Doris and the other Jessie or something like that. It’s really nothing more than light hearted joking acknowledgement of a rival from the same shores in the same era. As a London boy myself regardless of which of the two you prefer or dislike, the pair of them are two long standing legends with legacies already solidified, and have done Great Britain proud for their contributions to the music industry.
Cyndi and Rod, Cyndi has a brilliant singing voice it the first time I have heard her in an interview (I didn't recognize her at first) two great rockers.
theres a grain of truth in each insult but its born out of respect, honesty & friendship for two who are still performing so long after being joined together by the late great Long John Baldry.
I know that this will probably be lost in the comments below, but some times when am home alone I like to go out in my garden and cover myself with dirt and pretend am a carrot
I bought a concert for 21 Oct 2020, it was postponed to 2022. He can’t retire before that! I bought the concert with insurance if something was wrong. It was! But until now nobody to answer the phone or email to give my money back, then I want watch the concert.
Hah! If anyone knows anything about Elton from the people he’s worked with over the years, it’s that he’s an absolute bloody diva, & I think this ‘farewell’ bollocks just highlights that fact. He won’t be going anywhere. He might slow down but most do at a certain age anyway, but he won’t be going anywhere.
That's exactly what I thought when I first heard about this "retirement." He just wants to rake in as much cash in as possible before calling it quits. Elton has a very expensive life style to maintain. I heard the guy spends like $20,000 a week just on flowers. I don't want to see Elton John at 70. I saw him when he was astounding 24 year old rock and roll machine.
💿💿💿 #💿💿💿💿 💿💿💿 #💿💿💿💿 *Based on love alone. God sent His Son Jesus Christ to die in our place. Then on the third day rose Him from the dead.* *Now, though Jesus Christ alone. God has granted us the free gift of eternal life. He will save and heal you, if you ask Him.*
I highly doubt Rod is jealous of Elton's wealth, if that's what you're implying. 235 million is more than enough to last forever and entire family generations after.
No mate. I was defending Elton in fun by saying that Elton doesn't need a farewell tour because he's worth double Rod's wealth and maybe Rod should do a money making farewell tour. It's all in good fun with those 2 because they're close friends.
Jesus aging rock/pop stars are an embarrassment. I thought Rod had faded away? Is he still going? How? Why? and who is paying to watch these over rated icons of the past?
....ok, so Pensioners are still digging into their pockets to buy his albums. Good for him. I'm not having a go if you like Rod Stewart that is allowed. I'm just taking the piss out of how old he got. Like the Rolling Stones these old guys have become kinda funny living caricatures of themselves. Still banging out tour dates, over priced tickets to watch some old dudes do a butlins esc rendition of their former glory days. Living relics of the last millennium. Someone should tell them it's no longer the 1980's though.
TheDragonfly why shouldn't they still perform for their fans? Are the only people allowed to perform be young, overrated types with lots of money spent on advertising aimed at kids?
TheDragonfly I do see what your saying here but I would hazard a guess that you are much younger than me and for that reason wouldn’t be able to weigh up the vast difference between his era and that of today. I see your comparison of sales to Justin beiber, but you must take into account that in Rods day there was no internet at all, no options to download, no UA-cam, instagram, or any form of social media. You had radio only and if you liked his work then you physically had to go out and purchase his songs on vinyl or cassette. And millions of people did exactly that. In my opinion most of Justin biebers sales would of stemmed from the internet being around, his image, downloads being so accessible and a young target fan base which was easy to directly promote to. This is also the sole reason guys like rod are on tour a lot cause that is precisely where they make their money as this generation couldn’t be persuaded to go and download his music. Same for the stones and all of the pioneers of music pre internet. If you come from where I come from then going to see someone like Rod Stewart perform a live gig is something you’d remember for the rest of your days. A true legend who paved the way for many many artists of today, just my opinion mate.
Craig P- Fair enough I get your point. The internet has forced an awful lot of artists to go on tour to make their bread. The case these days seems to be that there is a whole lot more music readily available and there isn't really any scenes really happening as a result because everyone's tuning in to a wide variety of music across the board and the artists are the one struggling to get a decent payout as most streaming services like spotify and deezer don't pay out much to smaller artists starting out. Most of the friends I grew up with started out listening to similar music as we were at the tail end of the last millennium and things still worked much as they had done before but the internet wasn't as widely used as it is today and the likes of napster we're laying in wake. Today though non of us are even remotely hearing the same music or even watching the same t.v shows because everyone is doing their own thing as it's so easy to listen to whatever you want and there's a lot out there. I have almost every album ever released at my fingertips thanks to deezer for the price of a cd a month. It's a good deal for me but I know it's come at a cost for musicians wanting to make a living. Hence the increase in tours and the festival boom of the last decade. Anyway cheers for engaging in reasonable manner which is rare online. Susiela1-I'm not having a dig at older artists performing for there fans. I couldn't care less how other people spend their money and I can understand why a person would do so as I would pay to see the like of Lee Scratch Perry perform and he's like... 82, I Think? That's not my issue my issue is that bands like The Stones have already made a fair whack of money and still seem to think charging ridiculously overpriced tickets to watch the "shadows of their former self's" do renditions of there glory days is a bit...you know, of a kick in the teeth for anyone who is a fan of their music (which I am BTW) but that's just like...my opinion, man.
I love all the jabs Rod and Elton make at each other they have been doing it for years :D

Did Rod refer to Elton as "her" lol
"Hey buddy I'm walking here!"
Condo has such a New York accent
Rod is a straight talking no nonsense rocker.
Ya, keep retiring like Streisand.
Thomas Joint she released and album and tour in 2016..
She had stage freight and had therapy, even when she came back she started with small audiences and built her way up
And Cher
we don’t want la streisand to retire, though!
:-) delightful clip! Except for Andy. GOD he's annoying to me. Maybe it's just me.
Wouldnt go to a Rod Stewart concert if it was free.

rods voice is kaput
Elton also lowered some songs to help a little bit that's the smart thing to do

why she tryin to look like rod's momma?
Rod is worth 235m and Elton is worth 450m. ;-)

Rick T Rolled. Tit
At least Elton doesn’t sound like he has throat cancer when he sings.
Who's the drag queen interrupting Rod?
aabove she made a few hit songs in the 80s and that's pretty much it
How very dare you!! She’s a legend lol
She didn't interrupt him. Each time she spoke Rod had already finished his comment. They're
close together but not interrupting.
aabove That's the one and only legendary Cyndi Lauper.. you fool. Have respect!!!
Jesus aging rock/pop stars are an embarrassment. I thought Rod had faded away? Is he still going? How? Why? and who is paying to watch these over rated icons of the past?
Why not? Sounds exactly like the definition of overrated. Justin Beibers sold a lot of records does that mean his musics any good?
....ok, so Pensioners are still digging into their pockets to buy his albums. Good for him.
I'm not having a go if you like Rod Stewart that is allowed.
I'm just taking the piss out of how old he got.
